World Boxing News can confirm that the long -awaited BKB clash between Paulie Malignaggi and Tyler Goodjohn will now take place on October 18 at Ice Palace in Leeds after the former world champion in boxing, two weight suffered a miniature injury in the camp.
Initially planned for BKB 45 in Bristol, the organizers pulled out the fight after Malignaggi twisted the thumb during sparrings.
The 44-year-old Up-to-date Yorker, who won super airy and scale scale during the decorated boxing career, insisted that the switch was purely caution to ensure that he was entering Trygon.
“Magic Man” return
Malignaggi, who was the voice of BKB as a color commentator and a leading analyst since 2021, announced in June that he signed a contract with the promotion.
His goal? Become a world champion with two sports, adding bare gold to his glove concentration.
Goodjohn, a bare veteran 5-3, was revealed as his first opponent during BKB 43 in Bolton.
Deferment, not cancellation
“This is a postponement, not a cancellation,” said Malignaggi. “I had a great camp and I am in the best form of my life.
“But I owe it to myself, Tyler, BKB and fans to be 100%when I enter Trigon. Without excuses. I am glad that I can still fight before British fans – Tyler, make sure you are ready.
“Train strenuous. We are to make an appointment on October 18.”
Goodjohn, never avoiding verbal sparring, replied in nature: “Ice of this hand, buddy. Take what you need.
“Just go to this ring, because with all the noise about the return, there is no way you can fight with me. On October 18, it will fall.”
BKB Matchmaker Mel Valenzuela confirmed the switch, adding that fans who bought Bristol tickets will receive a discount code for the Reserved Leeds event.
BKB 47, entitled Leeds Brawl II, will be broadcast live in Great Britain and Ireland to TalkSport, as well as in the USA and Canada on Vice at 20:00 et. Tickets are already available via bkbtickets.com/bkb47.
The delay may be frustrated by some, but for Malignagga the waiting is to ensure that even the most miniature failure does not violate his naked return.
