Brandon Figueroa breaks Nick Ball’s heart with a brutal finish in the twelfth round
Published
14 hours agoon
March 20, 2026
Nick Ball’s reign came to a controversial end when Brandon Figueroa forced a stoppage in the twelfth round of a grueling featherweight battle that continued on and off until a disturbing conclusion.
Ball started with a clear tactical focus, repeatedly moving inside and delivering pointed uppercuts to the taller Figueroa. This approach brought quick success, but required the champion to take shots, setting the tone for a challenging fight.
As the rounds progressed, Figueroa began to impose himself. His efficiency increased and the challenger repeatedly found success with weighty body shots that slowly took their toll on Ball. Momentum jumped back and forth in the middle rounds, with Ball’s precision briefly testing the pressure whenever Figueroa threatened to overwhelm him.
The pace changed as the fight deepened
In the later stages, the competition became a test of endurance and composure. Ball continued to hit cleaner shots from close range, while Figueroa relied on volume and physicality to keep the pace high. Neither fighter was able to fully escape as the fight moved into the championship rounds.
‘The Heartbreaker’ finished better in the tenth period, but Ball responded in the eleventh period with greater accuracy, trying to counter the challenger’s excellent performance with timing and precision, while both men showed the effects of sustained momentum.
A disturbing finish in the twelfth match
The ending came suddenly and disturbingly. Early in the twelfth round, Figueroa landed a weighty left hand that left Ball severely injured. Despite being clearly in trouble, the champion was allowed to continue and took another penalty when Figueroa took advantage.
The ball eventually fell through the ropes as the fight was finally stopped, leading to an abrupt end to the match. What followed created an unsettled atmosphere in the arena as Figueroa celebrated while Ball remained visibly dejected, prompting a frosty reaction from the crowd as attention focused on the fallen champion’s condition.
Figueroa later apologized profusely.
WBN had Ball right in front of him going into the final round at unofficial scorecard.
Official result: Brandon Figueroa TKO 12

March 19, 2026
World Boxing News presents live results of the fight between Mario Barrios and Ryan Garcia at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, where the WBC welterweight title is at stake.
Updates to the full DAZN Pay-Per-View card will be posted here throughout the night as the action unfolds.
Barrios defends his world title against Garcia in a high-stakes welterweight bout with his position in the division hanging in the balance.
WBN will be updating all main fights live from Las Vegas, with separate live scorecards and a Barrios vs Garcia live scorecard available for featured fights.
The early drama unfolds during Fight Night
Richardson Hitchins was forced to withdraw from his scheduled fight against Oscar Duarte on fight day due to a reported illness. The IBF super lightweight champion will therefore not defend his title on the card.
Live scores of the Barrios-Garcia match
Gary Russell Jr. defended the WBA super lightweight title by unanimous decision, although the official results did not fully reflect the ferocity of this fight.
Andy Hiraoka landed the heavier shots throughout, but the judges preferred Russell’s cleaner and more consistent work throughout the twelve rounds.
Results read 117-110, 116-111, AND 116-111 for Russell, while the WBN Live scorecard showed the competition the opposite way.
Nahir Albright AND Frank Martin they fought a unanimous draw in a competitive fight that kept the crowd entertained throughout. Three times the score was 95-95, and both retained their win-loss records.
In the WBN Live Scorecard standings, Albright defeated Martin 96-94. Albright’s cleaner counterattacks and sharper bursts in the swing rounds proved decisive, while Martin managed to press forward and win rounds five, six and nine. A fiercely competitive ten-round battle that ultimately resulted in a share of the spoils.
Bektemir Melikuziev he led Sena Agbeko from the start, collecting runs before getting a break mid-innings. The super middleweight fighter is one step away from winning the world title after another bulldozer victory in which he suffered another injury.
In the post-fight interview, “Bek” stated that he had his eye on Armando Resendiz for the WBA title. (WBN Live Scorecard).
Amari Jones he almost got the job done early against the experienced Luis Arias, bowling his opponent over with a mighty left wing that he used to find the target all night long. The middleweight continued his merciless attack until Arias broke out of the corner after four completed rounds.
Mohammed Alakel he defeated the hapless David Calabro in his second super featherweight fight in Las Vegas. Alakel fired a devastating body shot that knocked down Calabro and ended the fight in the second round.
In the opener, Joshua Edwards improved to 6-0 with a composed victory over Brandon “The Real Life Rocky” Colantonio.
Edwards controlled the action throughout but seemed content to bank runs rather than push for stoppages, showing patience and ring maturity over the planned distance.
Colantonio, a 29-year-old Canadian and the first opponent to defeat “Rocket” for more than three rounds, once again attracted attention for his uncanny resemblance to Chuck Wepner – a resemblance that quickly became part of his in-ring persona.
Other attacks
Richardson Hitchins vs. Oscar Duarte – IBF super lightweight title – OFF due to Hitchins disease.
Barrios vs Garcia match preview
Mario Barrios enters as the current WBC welterweight champion, looking to defend his title against one of the most polarizing and commercially powerful figures in sports in Ryan Garcia.
Barrios holds the belt, but is viewed in many circles as an underdog tasked with thwarting Garcia’s latest attempt to win the 147-pound world title.
Garcia returns to the ring looking for redemption and validation in the welterweight division after losing to Rolly Romero in the WBA version of the fight.
The Golden Boy star is aware that a victory over the current champion changes his position in the division.
With the championship at stake, the promotional implications and the division’s position on the line, the main event in Las Vegas has ramifications that extend beyond one night.

Leigh Wood is leaving no debate on his return win over Josh Warrington
Published
2 days agoon
March 19, 2026
Leigh Wood emphatically closed the chapter with a controlled unanimous decision victory over Josh Warrington.
Boxing brilliantly from the opening bell, the Nottingham man rarely allowed the Leeds man to build something lasting.
Wood immediately set the pace, keeping Warrington on the back end of his shots and forcing him to constantly reset. It wasn’t flashy, but it was decisive.
Wood took control early and never let up
Warrington had moments in the second quarter, landing cleanly and appearing to damage Wood’s nose. If there was going to be a turnaround in the fight, this was the window.
Wood shut it down quickly.
He stayed serene, moved his legs and kept the exchange on his terms. By the fourth, Wood was in full control, landing a acute uppercut and still causing Warrington to miss enough to lose momentum.
Warrington finally landed his best series of punches at that point in the fifth round. It reminded him that when he was ready, he could still land.
It was as good as it got.
Wood returned to center in the sixth set and blew the air out of the fight again, jabbing, spinning and forcing Warrington into pursuit.
Warrington needed a knockout but couldn’t find the door
As the middle rounds progressed, it became increasingly clear that Warrington needed something dramatic. Wood calmly continued forward and Warrington was running out of ways to change the rhythm.
At eight o’clock Warrington was chasing and Wood was dictating.
Warrington bowled his strongest spell in the ninth over, but the difference was already wide. When he was unable to maintain this rhythm in the tenth minute, Wood immediately regained control of his thrust and movement.
By the eleventh mark it seemed that the fight would be gone for good. The wood looked fresh. Warrington looked tired and opportunities were becoming fewer.
Warrington finished twelfth, but the result had already been decided. Wood controlled the fight too cleanly and too calmly to ever be in any danger.
Ultimately, the rematch didn’t bring any of the uncertainty that some expected.
Official results
World Boxing News scored the fight 117-111 for Wood. The official judges returned 119-109, 119-110 and 117-111, giving Wood the decision.
WBN was reporting the full results of the Nottingham undercard throughout the evening.
