Sebastian Fundora defended the title, handing Thurman his first defeat by TKO

Sebastian Fundora defended his WBC junior middleweight world title with a dominant sixth-round TKO victory over Keith Thurman on Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. This marked the third successful defense of Fundora.
The 6-foot-10 with an 80-inch reach Fundora (24-1-1, 16 KO) used his considerable size advantage to control the distance from the start, keeping the 6-foot-10 Thurman at bay while landing killer body shots that continually wore down the former champion. Fundora dictated the tempo with his punch and volume, making it impossible for Thurman to find any rhythm.
Thurman (31-2, 23 KO) started well, using his movements to close the distance, but was only able to land a few punches and had restricted success in the first rounds. Ultimately, he suffered the second defeat in his career and the first by stoppage.
Thurman, a former unified welterweight champion who defeated top names in his prime, has been struggling with inactivity. This was his third fight since July 2019, when he lost a split decision to Manny Pacquiao. He fought once in 2022, winning a decision over Mario Barrios, and once in 2025, winning a third-round TKO over Brock Jarvis.
Fundora, who entered as the favorite against the more experienced Thurman, imposed his style early on. In the second round, he landed a brief left hand that buckled Thurman’s legs, an early sign of the trouble Thurman would face throughout the night.
As the fight progressed, Fundora’s unrelenting pressure and body attacks continued to take their toll, restricting Thurman’s movements and neutralizing his power. By the end of round 4, the damage was evident on Thurman’s face. While he had moments where he wanted to counterattack, he had difficulty dealing with Fundora’s reach and activity.
In the fifth game, Fundora took control, landing 36 of 80 punches, the highest mark of any opponent against Thurman. In the sixth round, the result was no longer in doubt, and referee Thomas Taylor stopped the fight at 1:17, with Fundora defeating Thurman with unanswered punches.
“With all due respect to Keith, that’s why I had to train so tough,” Fundora said during his post-fight interview. “That’s why I worked so tough, to prove to him, to prove to the world that I am the best 154.
“It was a lot easier than I expected. I was a little nervous today because it’s such a massive name, but we got there and as soon as we get through everything, I remember this is my world. You’re in my world.”
The junior middleweight division has become one of the most compelling in boxing, with champions Xander Zayas and Josh Kelly and minor titleholders Jaron “Boots” Ennis and Vergil Ortiz Jr. However, after Saturday’s performance, Fundora looks like the player to beat.
“I think 154 is the best division right now,” Fundora said. “So whoever wants this next, we can get it.”

Agit Kabayel Expected to Defeat Nelson Hysa by TKO in Five Rounds

Agit Kabayel is expected to make short work of Nelson Hysa when he defends his WBC heavyweight title on November 28, with Bernd Boente exclusively telling World Boxing News that he expects the German champion to win within five rounds.
Kabayel has become one of the most dangerous heavyweights in the world, with his relentless pressure and body punching proving too much for some of the division’s biggest names.
Hysa brings an unbeaten record and considerable knockout power to Düsseldorf, but the 42-year-old has never faced an opponent of Kabayel’s quality.
Boente believes the challenger has a dangerous weapon of his own, although he expects Kabayel to take control from the opening bell.
Boente Predicts Five-Round Finish
Asked whether Hysa’s punching power has been overrated, Boente warned against dismissing the Albanian’s right hand.
“Agit is a classic pressure fighter and will put Hysa under pressure right from the start. Hysa certainly possesses a dangerous right hand that Agit needs to watch out for, especially when Hysa counters,” Boente told WBN.
“However, Hysa hasn’t fought any top-tier opponents yet, so it’s hard to say for sure how things will go, but I’m predicting Agit wins within five rounds.”
Kabayel has already stopped Arslanbek MakhmudovFrank Sanchez and Zhilei Zhang on his way to becoming world champion.
Those victories established him among the heavyweight elite, while Hysa must now prove that his knockout record can stand up against a fighter operating at the highest level.
Hysa’s Financial Demands
The fight was not agreed without difficulties, with both sides involved in a public exchange before negotiations were completed.
Asked whether the disagreement had simply been an attempt to generate publicity, Boente pointed to money as the main issue.
“I think it came down to finances, as always. I heard Hysa wanted too much and his demands weren’t met. He initially turned it down, but then presumably realized that, at 42, he wouldn’t get many more chances to compete in a World Championship.”
The agreement gives Hysa an opportunity to become world champion at an age when most heavyweights are approaching the end of their careers.
It also gives Kabayel the chance to make the first defense of the full WBC championship he inherited following Oleksandr Usyk’s decision to vacate in June.

35,000 Tickets Sold
Questions have been raised over whether Hysa is a big enough name for a major stadium defense, but Boente believes the occasion itself is attracting supporters.
“Queensberry has already sold over 35,000 tickets in days. Ultimately, most spectators come for the event—for a heavyweight world title fight in a stadium. That is something truly special, and many people simply want to be there!
“When the Klitschkos boxed in German stadiums, they sold out—regardless of whether the opponent was Mormeck or Haye.”
Boente is also a DAZN DACH heavyweight pundit and will provide analysis for Daniel Dubois vs. Fabio Wardley this weekend.
The November 28 event at Düsseldorf’s Merkur Spiel-Arena marks another major step in the revival of heavyweight boxing in Germany.
Kabayel has already ended the country’s 94-year wait for a recognized heavyweight world champion, becoming the first since Max Schmeling in 1932.
Now comes his first defense, with a large home crowd expected to back the unbeaten champion.
Hysa has the power to make things interesting, but Boente believes Kabayel’s pressure will be the difference.

Derek Chisora Predicts Early KO in Dubois vs Wardley 2 Following First Fight Canvas Drama

Daniel Dubois seeks a repeat victory over Fabio Wardley in their WBO heavyweight title clash on Saturday, and ahead of the action, fellow British heavyweight Derek Chisora has offered his final prediction for the bout.
Wardley was elevated to full WBO world champion in late 2025 and accepted a daring first defence against ‘Triple D’ at Co-Op Live in Manchester, who had lost his IBF title to Oleksandr Usyk in his prior outing.
Despite being floored twice in the opening three rounds, Dubois was able to bring Wardley’s reign to an early end as he bounced back to dominate proceedings, battering Wardley until referee Howard Foster waved the contest off in round 11.
Wardley absorbed an enormous amount of punishment, but he was still quick to activate his rematch clause and initiate an immediate second meeting with Dubois, in the hopes of becoming a two-time heavyweight world champion.
Although, whilst pursuing a win that could define his career, Chisora told talkSPORT that he believes a second encounter with Dubois could turn out to be Wardley’s career finale, anticipating an early stoppage win for the reigning WBO heavyweight champion.
“I think that this is Wardley’s last fight. I don’t think that he wants to box anymore. This is his cash out.
“After three rounds, Daniel’s going to win it by knockout.”
All will be revealed when Dubois vs. Wardley II takes place this weekend at the O2 Arena in Londonwith Michael Gomez Jr set to challenge for Louie O’Doherty’s British lightweight title in the co-main event.

Tyson Furys Advantage: The Importance of Leg Endurance in Boxing
Published

Paulie Malignaggi likes Tyson Fury’s style against Anthony Joshuabut only if the Gypsy King’s legs still hold up to control range. He points out that Joshua must close the distance, yet doubts AJ has the footwork required to get there.
Fury’s movement creates the main problem. If he keeps Joshua following his lead and constantly resets AJ’s rhythm, Joshua risks spending the entire night chasing shadows instead of landing meaningful shots.
“AJ has to obviously get in close,” Malignaggi told Boxing King Media. “It’s not easy against a guy with the footing of Fury, but who knows, maybe Fury’s old legs are a little slower.”
That lingering doubt stops Paulie from locking in a definitive pick. Fury understands how to dictate distance against AJ, but executing that plan across twelve rounds takes functional wheels.
If Fury has lost a step, Joshua gets a direct route into punching range without burning energy on pursuit. AJ does not need sudden speed if Fury can no longer skip away. Joshua simply has to capitalize whenever Fury sits in the pocket.
At the same time, Malignaggi remains skeptical about Joshua’s mobility.
“I think AJ’s feet are a bit cumbersome, though. So, I think the size of the ring and things like that will also matter in the fight.”
A larger ring hands Fury extra space to glide and forces Joshua to cover real estate. A tighter ring gives AJ a clear path to trap his rival, though he must cut off the ring instead of trailing behind.
Paulie’s breakdown hinges entirely on Fury’s mobility. If the legs work, Joshua’s heavy feet could leave him swinging at air. If those legs fade, AJ suddenly finds a manageable target. Malignaggi spots the stylistic edge, but he refuses to assume Fury can still pull it off. He is analyzing a long-gone version of Tyson Fury from ten years ago, not the lumbering heavyweight who actually steps into the ring today.
That 2015 night in Düsseldorf against Wladimir Klitschko might as well belong to another century. Ever since the Usyk beatdowns, the slow-motion survival against Wach, and that labored outing against Makhmudov, Fury has looked completely grounded.
The twitch reflex is gone, the lateral bounce has vanished, and his upper-body slips look like they are running through wet cement. When heavyweight legs check out, no amount of altitude running or motivational talk in Morecambe brings them back.
