Commentator Ade Oladipo points out that Joseph Parker’s inactivity over the past 15 months leaves him in a vulnerable position for tonight’s heavyweight clash with Fabio Wardley at the O2 Arena in London. In the last eight months, Parker has only fought two rounds lasting a total of four minutes.

Wardley (19-0-1, 18 KO) is more dynamic; he’s younger, stronger, and when he knocks down his opponents, they stay knocked down. Ade, based on his experience, gives Parker (36-3, 24 KO) the advantage.
Fifteen months, four minutes of action
“I’m worried about Parker because he’s boxed four minutes in 15 months,” commentator Ade Oladipo said. Queensberrytalking about Joseph Parker’s inaction.
Parker knocked out the grossly out of shape 310-pound Martin Bakole in the second round earlier this year on February 22. Parker’s previous fight was a 12-round majority victory over Zhilei Zhang on March 8, 2024. He didn’t exactly look like a reincarnated Joe Louis in that fight, being knocked down twice by Zhang and only winning because Zhilei gassed himself in the championship rounds.
The lack of activity and quality fights puts Parker at a sufficient disadvantage to give the younger and fitter Wardley a chance today. Parker didn’t look slim, weighing in at 262 1/2 pounds at Friday’s weigh-in.
Parker conditioning under the microscope
Joseph’s best weight was mid-40s, and he looked like he hadn’t missed many meals since the Bakole fight. Surprisingly, Parker allowed himself to go into such an significant fight looking as limp as he did against one of the biggest fighters in the division.
“Yes, he had an amazing run with Wilder, Zhang and Bakole. But he wasn’t dynamic and he’s fighting someone who was dynamic. Someone who is unpredictable. But you have to favor Parker,” Ade said.
“Parker is more experienced. What Parker has done in boxing over a decade is amazing. He’s fought everyone except Fury and Usyk, but for Wardley this is a huge step forward. He’s not Justis Huni. It’s a different level.”
