Esteban Ribovics details hotel mishap that led to UFC 332 weight cut prior to TKO win over King Green

Esteban Ribovics has revealed that a hotel blunder led to his inability to make the contracted weight for his UFC 332 bout.

Ribovics and King Green collided in Salt Lake City this past Saturday. There was a heated exchange between Ribovics and Green's team prior to fight night. Ultimately, Ribovics scored the first-round TKO finish after securing multiple knockdowns.

Speaking to media members, Ribovics detailed that the reason he missed weight this past Friday was due to something going awry in his hotel (via MMAFighting).

“On Thursday, there's something that we do, we do everything we could to get to a certain number, just to cut some stuff on Friday, but they turned on the air conditioning while we were just doing it and basically I stopped sweating,†Ribovics said via a Spanish translator. “At one point, ‘We have to leave this for tomorrow,' I stopped sweating because of it, so we got cold and just stopped sweating.â€

Green said he wishes referee Herb Dean would've given him more time to recover, but the result is final. Ribovics now moves on to 17-3 in his pro MMA career. This is also his second straight victory.

Ribovics told reporters that his most recent defeat has opened his eyes, and he feels confident in facing any name the UFC matchmakers throw at him.

“I don't like to call out names,†Ribovics said in Spanish. “I'll tell you that after that fight against [Mateusz] Gamrot, things clicked in my head, and I just became more professional, improved a lot of things to be ready for whenever and I can tell you I am ready. If called upon, I will face anyone.â€

It was a submission due to a triangle choke that Ribovics succumbed to in the aforementioned clash with Gamrot. He bounced back with a second-round TKO finish over Edson Barboza before stopping Green's three-fight winning streak.
