Arman Tsarukyan rips Ilia Topuria’s Justin Gaethje glove claim: ‘Just excuses’
Arman
Tsarukyan believes Ilia
Topuria isn't handling his first professional loss well.

Justin
Gaethje pulled off a historic upset against Topuria at the

Ultimate Fighting Championship's White House event this past
June. Topuria was a massive favorite going into his first UFC
lightweight title defense against then-interim champion Gaethje,
who forced a corner stoppage before the final round.

Topuria recently made some curious claims about the fight, drawing
a strong reaction from Tsarukyan.

Arman Tsarukyan tells Ilia Topuria to accept his loss to Justin
Gaethje

Gaethje survived a treacherous second round before putting a
beating on Topuria in the third and fourth frames at
UFC Freedom 250. “El Matador†sustained extensive facial damage
and his vision was significantly affected during the fight.

Topuria recently announced that he is medically cleared to return
to action. He also called for a rematch against Gaethje, claiming
the champion put something “weird†in his gloves, prompting a
response from Tsarukyan, who said it would be impossible for
Gaethje to cheat with the athletic commission checking every
step.

Tsarukyan believes Topuria is looking for excuses, which is the
wrong way to deal with a loss. According to the top-ranked
lightweight, Topuria should accept his loss and look into what
mistakes he made.

“Just excuses,†Tsarukyan told Carlos Contreras Legaspi. “How can
the commission let [Gaethje] wear different gloves? They stay in,
check. Just excuses. You got to accept what really happened. You
got to start with what you did wrong. Not finding excuses and
talking about gloves.â€

Gaethje has inflicted significant damage to most of his opponents
in the UFC, even in defeat, with many fellow lightweights lauding
his power over the years, including Hall of Famer Khabib
Nurmagomedov.

Robelis Despaigne says UFC exit fixed the hole in his heavyweight game
Robelis
Despaigne believes experience outside the Octagon has prepared
him for a second run in the
Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Despaigne had finished all four of his pro fights within a combined
cage time of 5:13 when he made his UFC debut in 2024. The Olympic
taekwondo bronze medalist lived up to his hype by finishing
Josh
Parisian in 18 seconds in his promotional debut. However,
Despaigne's flaws were exposed as he was outwrestled in consecutive
losses against Waldo
Cortes-Acosta and Austen
Lane.

Robelis Despaigne details his improved ground game before
facing Tai Tuivasa at UFC 331

Despaigne (6-2) was released from the UFC in 2024 and went on to
compete in Karate Combat, where he won the heavyweight title. “The
Bad Boy†returned to mixed martial arts competition this past May
with a first-round knockout win over Junior dos
Santos at
Most Valuable Promotions' inaugural MMA event.

Despaigne has now re-signed with the UFC and is scheduled to begin
his second run against Tai Tuivasa
(14-10) at UFC
331 on Sept. 19 in Los Angeles. He feels more confident in his
second UFC run after gaining experience outside the Octagon. The
Cuban also believes he has significantly developed his ground game
since his first UFC stint. Despaigne still has the lofty goal of
becoming a UFC champion.

“I am happy to be back and thankful to the UFC for giving me the
opportunity to make my return,†Despaigne said in a recent
interview. “I gained about a year of experience outside of the UFC.
And now that I'm returning, I have much more confidence in myself.
The main difference is that I've got a lot of experience and I've
worked on my ground game. I feel as if it's a welcome party and I'm
gonna give it my all to get the victory… As always, I'm highly
ambitious and my goal is to get the UFC belt.â€

Paulo Costa wants his UFC jacket after claiming 200 drug tests
Paulo
Costa claims he has been drug-tested around 200 times.

Arman
Tsarukyan, who is scheduled to fight Mauricio
Ruffy on Sept. 19, recently received a clean record jacket from
the
Ultimate Fighting Championship for 50 successful drug tests.
Costa subsequently took to social media to demand a jacket of his
own.

Paulo Costa reacts to Arman Tsarukyan's 50-test UFC
milestone

Reacting to a video of Tsarukyan receiving the milestone jacket,
Costa asked for his own, claiming to have been drug-tested 200
times.

“I keep asking where is my f*ck 200 tests Ugly jacket son of a
b*tchessssss,†Costa posted on X.

Costa is among the UFC's most tested athletes. While “Borrachinhaâ€
never tested positive for any banned substances, he accepted a
six-month suspension from the UFC's then-drug testing partner,
USADA, in 2019 for using an IV infusion to recover from a weight
cut. Costa has previously complained about drug testing authorities
turning up at his residence early in the morning while he was on a
tough weight cut. Costa’s frequent testing history gave him the
idea to come up with his “Secret Juice,†which has now turned into
a brand.

The Brazilian has one fight left on his UFC contract. He recently
campaigned for an interim light heavyweight title fight, and claims
the UFC wasn't interested and is repeatedly stalling his Octagon
return.

‘I’m his dad’: Joshua Van continues to mock Alexandre Pantoja ahead of UFC 331 rematch

‘I’m his dad’: Joshua Van continues to mock Alexandre Pantoja ahead of UFC 331 rematch

Joshua Van and Alexandre Pantoja were respectful and cordial during every interaction leading up to their first encounter but the same can't be said for the rematch at UFC 331.

A pre-fight press conference announcing the rematch saw Van and Pantoja at each other's throats, just waiting for the chance to settle some unfinished business. The bad blood turned so volatile at that press conference that Pantoja went as far as saying Dana White actually stopped the former flyweight champion from slapping Van during the event.

“As far as I checked, I'm his dad,†Van said during UFC 331 media day on Wednesday. “I don't know what he was talking about. The shit that he's been saying, he should get smacked for that.

“He was being respectful after the fight and [now] he's doing interviews and things like that, making me the bad guy. I told him we were going to fight again so I don't know what his deal was. It was just annoying.â€

The animosity between the flyweights stems from the first fight between them ending under odd circumstances. Pantoja suffered a freak injury just seconds into the contest and when he couldn't continue, Van was crowned the new UFC flyweight champion.

As Pantoja recovered, Van embraced his new role as champion and went on to battle Tatsuro Taira in one of the best fights of the year as he retained his 125-pound title in victory.

Van believes Pantoja is just angry he lost his spot at the top of the division so now the Brazilian is trying to tear him down every chance he gets.

“He's trying to be this guy, where [he's] the good guy,†Van said. “Trying to put me [in the bad guy role]. I don't mind. It's the way he said it. Even in the Countdown videos, he's trying to fix my arm and he was saying the video they showed was him saying ‘no more.'

“It's funny to me. We're going to fight on Saturday and find out who is the better man.â€

In reality, Van doesn't seem to care much what Pantoja has to say or what else he might say over the next couple of days leading to UFC 331.

If anything, Van feels Pantoja is a little delusional with his takes on the fight, but also knows by now that the former campion just doesn't like him very much and that comes across in every single thing he says.

“That's because the things that he's been saying. He doesn't even believe it,†Van said. “When I point that out, it just pisses him off I guess.

“I'm just going to be myself. As far as I know he can't stand me so I'm just going to be myself.â€
