Tyson Fury says Moses Itauma "Dared to be great", but "he'll come again" following loss to Filip Hrgovic

Tyson Fury offered encouraging words to Moses Itauma after the latter attempted to break a record held by the man the former got his namesake from. Fury offered this feedback while live in attendance at BKB 58 in Miami as he prepares in the lively city for an as-yet unannounced bout with Anthony Joshua.

BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing presented that night of fistic fireworks on August 29th, which was the same day Itauma suffered his first loss as a professional when Filip Hrgovic authored a ninth-round TKO stoppage. Mike Tyson has the distinction of being the youngest heavyweight champion in the history of the sweet science, which was the historical piece that Itauma was attempting to rewrite over the weekend.

Alas, despite early successes in the IBF championship clash that bore the hallmarks of some of the emphatic performances he has put on so far, Itauma seemed to have issues with his gas tank down the stretch. This waning cardio piece resulted in his Croatian adversary running away with things on route to securing a big upset win. When asked if he had any advice for Itauma going forward after this setback, Fury said [via Bare Knuckle Bowker],

“Boxing is a tough sport. Young, young lads having a go at becoming world champion, he dared to be great and it didn't work out for him. He'll come again, rest up, come again. Very talented kid.â€

Tyson Fury says “show me the money†when asked if he would take on a bare-knuckle boxing bout

Tyson Fury was brought into the BKB Mighty Trigon with an accompanying special entrance, and when asked if he would ever drop the gloves, he excited the crowd by saying he would entertain it if the numbers were in proper alignment.

During a chat with Gareth A. Davies in front of the live Florida crowd, Fury covered a couple of topics on a night that saw fellow UK compatriot and multi-promotion bare-knuckle champ Mick Terrill get finished in the second stanza by the supremely dominant Gustavo Trujillo, who now has a 9-0 record with a one hundred percent finishing rate.

The Gypsy travellers have such a rich history of bare-knuckle fighting over the course of several generations, and when ‘The Gypsy King' himself was asked whether a BKB bout could draw his interest in the future, Fury stated,

“I'm a prize fighter. Show me the money…get the chequebook out, I'll be here.â€

16-0 Farid Basharat confirms UFC exit after seven straight wins

Farid
Basharat has addressed his departure from the
Ultimate Fighting Championship in a statement on social
media.

Basharat (16-0) completed his contract with a victory over John Garza
in July and wasn't offered a new deal despite going unbeaten in the
promotion. In his statement, Basharat reflected on his UFC tenure
and questioned the organization's direction.

Farid Basharat says the UFC never offered a new contract after
his unbeaten seven-fight run

Basharat went 7-0 in the UFC after earning a contract on
Dana White's Contender Series, with six of those victories
coming by decision. He confirmed his departure on Instagram, saying
he competed under unfavorable circumstances and never declined a
fight.

“The news is confirmed, I am no longer with the UFC,†Basharat
wrote on Instagram. “I've had an incredibly successful time in the
organization. I'm proud and happy with what I've accomplished
inside the Octagon. I leave with a stainless record. Holding the
longest active win streak in my weight division and the fourth
longest in the entire UFC. I feel I'm the best bantamweight in the
world. I always turned up and fought regardless of injuries and
weight deficits. And I always asked for the toughest opponent to
get me closer to the title.â€

While grateful for his time with the promotion and its staff,
Basharat questioned the UFC's direction and said he had not
received a contract offer since his last bout.

“But my departure clearly has nothing to do with my fighting
capabilities,†Basharat added. “Unfortunately, the organization
just isn't what it used to be. They're heading in a different
direction from what we all grew up loving. I want to clarify that
since my last fight, I was never offered a contract or an opponent;
I waited, but it never came. I've certainly never declined a fight
during my whole tenure.â€
