Tyson Fury says Moses Itauma "Dared to be great", but "he'll come again" following loss to Filip Hrgovic
Tyson Fury offered encouraging words to Moses Itauma after the latter attempted to break a record held by the man the former got his namesake from. Fury offered this feedback while live in attendance at BKB 58 in Miami as he prepares in the lively city for an as-yet unannounced bout with Anthony Joshua.
BKB Bare Knuckle Boxing presented that night of fistic fireworks on August 29th, which was the same day Itauma suffered his first loss as a professional when Filip Hrgovic authored a ninth-round TKO stoppage. Mike Tyson has the distinction of being the youngest heavyweight champion in the history of the sweet science, which was the historical piece that Itauma was attempting to rewrite over the weekend.
Alas, despite early successes in the IBF championship clash that bore the hallmarks of some of the emphatic performances he has put on so far, Itauma seemed to have issues with his gas tank down the stretch. Tyson Fury was brought into the BKB Mighty Trigon with an accompanying special entrance, and when asked if he would ever drop the gloves, he excited the crowd by saying he would entertain it if the numbers were in proper alignment.
During a chat with Gareth A. Davies in front of the live Florida crowd, Fury covered a couple of topics on a night that saw fellow UK compatriot and multi-promotion bare-knuckle champ Mick Terrill get finished in the second stanza by the supremely dominant Gustavo Trujillo, who now has a 9-0 record with a one hundred percent finishing rate.
The Gypsy travellers have such a rich history of bare-knuckle fighting over the course of several generations, and when ‘The Gypsy King' himself was asked whether a BKB bout could draw his interest in the future, Fury stated,
“I'm a prize fighter. Show me the money…get the chequebook out, I'll be here.â€
