Carlos Prates predicts Ian Garry upset of Islam Makhachev at UFC 330
Carlos
Prates believes Islam
Makhachev vs. Ian Garry
will go the distance.

Makhachev (28-1) puts his
Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight title on the line
for the first time against Garry (17-1) in the main event of
UFC
330 on Aug. 15 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia. Prates,
whose only UFC loss came against the Irish challenger, is backing
Garry to emerge victorious.

Carlos Prates believes Islam Makhachev's win streak will be
halted by Ian Garry

While Makhachev is a -330 favorite, Garry's style poses a
legitimate threat to the Dagestani champion's historic win streak.
Prates predicts an upset win for Garry. “The Nightmare†believes
the former
Cage Warriors champion will defeat Makhachev via decision.

“UFC 330, Ian Garry is gonna beat Islam Makhachev by decision,â€
Prates said in a recent interview while in attendance at
UFC Vegas 120. “I don't know unanimous decision or split
decision. But it's going to be a decision.â€

Prates (24-7) lost to Garry last year in a tightly contested
five-round bout. The Brazilian has since bounced back with knockout
wins over veteran Geoff Neal
and former champs Leon
Edwards and Jack
Della Maddalena.

Jean Silva shares prediction for UFC 330 headliner, Caio Borralho disagrees

Fighting Nerds teammates Jean Silva
and Caio
Borralho seemingly disagree on how the upcoming
Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight title fight will
play out.

Ian
Garry (17-1) is scheduled to challenge Islam
Makhachev (28-1) for the 170-pound title at UFC
330 on Aug. 15 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia. While
the reigning champion is a massive betting favorite, many fighters
have picked Garry to pull off an upset.

Jean Silva backs Ian Garry against Islam Makhachev as Caio
Borralho signals disagreement

While Silva is backing Garry to come out on top, he admits that
supporting the Irishman is challenging, likely referring to his
teammate Carlos
Prates' loss to “The Future†last year.

“I like Ian Garry, I prefer Ian Garry,†Silva said in a recent
interview. “I have little problem for my team.â€

Meanwhile, Borralho shook his head in disagreement as Silva weighed
in on the fight.

Garry has nine wins in the UFC and has only lost to Shavkat
Rakhmonov, who is currently sidelined as he recovers from
injury. The former
Cage Warriors champion has beaten the likes of Prates, Belal
Muhammad, Geoff Neal
and Neil
Magny.

Meanwhile, Makhachev is on a 16-fight winning streak, tied with
Anderson
Silva for the longest in UFC history. The Dagestani champion
defended the lightweight title four times before moving up to
welterweight and dethroning Jack
Della Maddalena.

RAF 13 adds matchup between Luke Rockhold and Joe Pyfer

Luke Rockhold returns to the Real American Freestyle mats next month.

On Sunday, RAF announced that Rockhold will face current top-15 middleweight Joe Pyfer in a catchweight bout at RAF 13 on Sep. 19 at Watsco Center in Miami.

A former UFC middleweight champion, Rockhold made his RAF debut at RAF 5 in January, where he lost by tech fall to Colby Covington. Rockhold does not have a significant wrestling background, though he did wrestle in high school and at community college before transitioning to grappling and MMA. Rockhold retired from MMA in 2022 and has spent the past several years trying his hand in various other combat sports.

Currently ranked No. 9 in MMA Fighting's Global middleweight rankings, Pyfer has a similar wrestling background to Rockhold, having mostly participated in the sport in high school, though he also has some experience in professional grappling events. Most recently, Pyfer knocked out former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya at UFC Seattle in March. This will be Pyfer's first match in RAF.

RAF 13 is supposed to be headlined by a cruiserweight crossover championship grudge match between Colby Covington and Belal Muhammad.
