Tyson Fury weighs in 26 pounds lighter than opponent for potential Anthony Joshua tune-up fight

Tyson Fury won't be the bigger man for once.

For the first time since 2011, Fury weighed in lighter than his opponent for a fight, coming in at 265 pounds Thursday for his heavyweight matchup with Mariusz Wach in Pattaya, Thailand. The Polish veteran registered at 291.4 pounds, over 26 pounds heavier than Fury for Friday's fight.

The last time the 6-foot-9 Fury came in smaller on the scale was for his first fight with future rival Derek Chisora 15 years ago, when Fury came in at 255.5 pounds and Chisora at 261.

Fury's fight with Wach is expected to serve as a tune-up fight for the former heavyweight king's long-awaited matchup with fellow British star Anthony Joshua, who also fights this weekend when he takes on Kristian Prenga on Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. An official date and location for the potential Fury vs. Joshua fight is still to be determined.

This is Fury's second fight since ending his latest retirement bid. This past April, he made a successful comeback with a unanimous decision win over Arslanbek Makhmudov to boost his career record to 35-2-1.

“This man's nearly two and a half stone heavier than me, and I'm usually a f*cking fat c*nt, ain't I?†Fury said at Thursday's weigh-ins. “‘Mr. Slim' now.â€

“Look, I want to keep busy,†Fury added. “I'm not banking myself on any f*cking fight that happening that might not happen or whatever, but I want to keep busy. I'm a fighter, so the main thing I've always wanted to do and never been able to do it is stay busy all the time. This year is the year of Tyson Fury staying busy, so whatever happens, I'm just going to stay busy throughout the year. Who knows how many fights? I might have f*cking 10 fights this year.â€

Fury vs. Wach is not being broadcast live via any traditional or streaming services. The fight is expected air at a later date as part of Fury's reality show At Home with the Furys on Netflix.

Eddie Hearn bashes Dana White after Fury vs. Joshua announcement: "You've lost, mate"

Eddie Hearn bashes Dana White after Fury vs. Joshua announcement: "You've lost, mate"

Eddie Hearn is claiming victory over Dana White as the Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight is indeed on for the United Kingdom.

There was a bit of a power struggle, which stalled the official date and location reveal. Under the terms of the original contract, which was signed by Joshua, the fight was to take place in England. With Fury being linked to White, the Zuffa Boxing boss reportedly wanted the fight to take place at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

On Thursday, Turki Alalshikh announced that Fury vs. Joshua will take place at Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Dec. 11.

Speaking to iFL TV, Hearn said White has no business being around Fury vs. Joshua at all, and he thinks the UFC CEO is struggling to accept defeat (via MMAJunkie).

“Dana White cannot be involved in this fight,†Hearn said. “Netflix clearly didn't get the memo. You see, no one talks to each other. So I speak to Sela and Turki, ‘No, Dana White is not involved in the fight, you've got a contract that says that, he won't be at the presser, blah, blah, blah.' And then Netflix says the fight's in conjunction with Dana White. So now we have to go through that process. We stand by our contract, and he cannot be involved. When I saw the press release, I just couldn't stop pissing myself. You really got them to include your name in the press (release), you silly, sloppy tit. It's just so petty. You've lost, mate. You've lost. You did everything you could to bring the fight to America and rob the British fight fans of the fight. Give it up, son. …â€

Hearn and White were once quite complimentary of one another, but things changed after Zuffa Boxing launched. White's involvement in the boxing industry, including attempts to revise the Muhammad Ali Act, have drawn the ire of Hearn and other promoters.

What do you make of the Eddie Hearn's comments about Dana White “losing†this round in their promoter rivalry? Is this the win Hearn thinks it is? Sound off in the comments below.

Mauricio Ruffy blames 'carelessness' for KO loss against Arman Tsarukyan : "I paid the price for that"

Mauricio Ruffy blames 'carelessness' for KO loss against Arman Tsarukyan : "I paid the price for that"

Mauricio Ruffy believes he slipped up against Arman Tsarukyan and was knocked out for it.

Ruffy had the biggest opportunity of his pro MMA career on the UFC 331 main card. The Brazilian knockout artist was featured in the co-main event against top-ranked lightweight Arman Tsarukyan. This was Ruffy's chance to turn the 155-pound division upside down.

Ruffy had success in spots, catching Tsarukyan with a punch early, and he even had some success with his takedown defense. Ultimately, Ruffy's grappling defense led to his downfall, as Tsarukyan used the opportunity to catch his opponent with a brutal elbow that put him to sleep.

In a statement posted on his Instagram Stories, Ruffy said that while he felt in prime form inside the Octagon, he made a big mistake leaving his guard down prior to the elbow (via MMAFighting).

“I was 100 percent focused on performing, in passing all possible situation, and have an answer for them all. I was feeling really good in the fight. …

â€When I got that flash knockdown and felt his strength starting to fade. I felt the fight in my control. And when he got flash knocked down, I felt that his strength was breaking. I saw how much he felt it when I hit one elbow at the tip of the rib when he was defending reversal. So he was hurt, his eye was very closed. I would get a lot of punches up there, and I was sure I would finish the fight in the second round.

“An important thing to say is that the mistake was totally mine. It was my fault, my carelessness, and his merit. Arman is an excellent fighter.â€

Ruffy admitted it stings knowing that he had a brief lapse inside the Octagon.

“I just got careless,†Ruffy said. “I relaxed on defense, which I normally don't do. So I paid the price for that.

The good news for Ruffy is that there were some things to build off of even though the fight didn't make it past the first round. Time will tell how he responds to being knocked out for the second time in his pro MMA career. This is also Ruffy's third pro loss.

Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua finally has a date and location set: "The time for talking is over"

Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua has finally found a date and location.

Chairman of the Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority, Turki Alalshikh, announced that Fury vs. Joshua will be taking place at Principality Stadium in Cardiff on Dec. 11.  The long overdue heavyweight grudge match will be streamed live on Netflix.

“For 15 years no one has been able to make this fight,†Alalshikh said. “Back in April, I said that any announcement would come from me. I can now confirm that Fury Vs Joshua will be coming to the UK, as I promised British boxing fans. The time for talking is over ……..â€

Prior to the announcement, Fury vowed to put Joshua to sleep early in a video clip posted on his Instagram account (via MMAFighting).

“I'm gonna knock him out so bad, it's gonna be unbelievable,†Fury said. “It's gonna be the quickest knockout ever. Man's chinny and a poppadom, paper chin. I'm taking him out. The last two real fights he had, it was over in both first rounds — not including Jake Paul, obviously. So the last two fights he had, he was down in the first round twice. I'm taking this cunt out. One round.â€

There had been a disagreement between both sides over the location of the bout. Per the initial terms agreed to by Joshua's camp, the fight was to take place in the United Kingdom. Fury's team was reportedly pushing for the bout to emanate from Madison Square Garden in New York City. The general consensus is that Fury vs. Joshua should've always been planned for England.

Not long before the announcement, Matchroom's Eddie Hearn, who represents Joshua, was confident that the bout would indeed come to fruition under the original terms. It's clear that he had good reason to be optimistic.

Now that Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua finally has a date and location, who are you leaning towards picking for the long-awaited showdown? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
