Video: Sean O’Malley crashes out watching Conor McGregor’s shocking UFC 329 loss
Published
10 hours agoon
Sean O'Malley was going through it watching Conor McGregor's disappointing UFC 329 injury loss.
The former bantamweight champion posted an emotional live YouTube reaction to Saturday's main event, which saw McGregor forced to bow out in just 69 seconds after injuring his leg in a loss to Max Holloway. McGregor was fighting for the first time since July 2021—when a broken leg signaled the start of his five-year hiatus—and fans at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas were left speechless at the abrupt ending to McGregor's comeback.
O'Malley was as stunned as anyone as he endured a lengthy crash-out watching one of his idols falter.
Watch O'Malley's full reaction below.
“I feel like I'm in shock,†O'Malley said. “I cannot believe what just happened. There's no way he had a previous knee injury going into the fight. There's no way, because you don't come out with a f*cking double front backflip 720 spinning heel kick to the chin if your knee's compromised. It's hard for me to believe if he had a previous existing injury. I'm so sad right now.â€
Following the loss, McGregor has maintained a positive attitude regarding his injury and potential recovery time, with the expectation that he will fulfill the final fight on his UFC contract at some point in the future. The former two-division champion has credited a renewed sense of spirituality for helping him to rededicate himself to fighting following years of public misconduct that include multiple allegations of sexual assault and suspicion of rampant substance abuse (McGregor admitted to cocaine use when testifying in a civil suit for which he was eventually found liable in November 2024 for sexual assault).
O'Malley worries this new setback could cause McGregor to spiral.
“Oh God, I hope Conor doesn't go off the f*cking deep end,†O'Malley said. “And if he does, I hope he calls me and asks me to join him because I would love to f*cking partake off the deep end with you. If you need a mate, let f*cking let me know.
“All those five years that he was off—and even those years before when he wasn't off, but he was still in—a lot of alcohol. A lot of nose lattes. A lot of just partying and that takes a toll on your body. Then you come out there and you throw a spinning 180 900 720 kick flip kick and your shit pops.â€
Despite McGregor's return fight being a bust, there was no denying anticipation was high to see “Notorious†fight again and that was reflected at the box office. UFC CEO touted that the McGregor vs. Holloway rematch broke the promotion's gate record, generating $25 million in ticket sales.
McGregor is still big business and if he does fight again, O'Malley expects everyone to show up.
“If Conor decides to fight again, battling the demons to come back and—not even just to get to the octagon, but to get through the fight,†O'Malley said. “What do you do if you're the UFC? You had the Chandler stuff with the toe, out for years, then he finally gets in, it's happening, it's happening. F*cking tickets sold out, Vegas sold out, gets to the fight, blows his shit out in 30 seconds.
“Do you book Conor again? Conor probably got paid 15, 20, 25, 30 million, 40 million, whatever, 10 million, I don't know what he got paid. The UFC made their money from the gate, Paramount was happy with the views, so I guess they still made money, but how do you sell it again? The thing is, it will sell again. Conor vs. anybody, end of the year, next year, will be huge. It will probably break the f*cking gate again.â€

McGregor following the Irishman's anticlimactic defeat to
Max
Holloway.
McGregor suffered a knee injury with the very first strike he threw
in his rematch with Holloway at
UFC 329 in Las Vegas. He couldn't plant both feet properly
thereafter and the referee subsequently intervened, calling a halt
to the action. Makhachev has now mocked the former two-division
champion.

Makhachev has addressed the result of UFC 329's main event, wherein
his friend and mentor Khabib
Nurmagomedov's bitter rival failed to return to the win column.
UFC featherweight champ Alexander
Volkanovski posted his live reaction to the injury on Instagram
and Makhachev commented with a laughing emoji underneath.
“Conor beat Conor congrats Max,†the former lightweight and current
welterweight champion then posted on X.
Notably, McGregor commended Makhachev in the lead-up to UFC 329,
ranking him above Nurmagomedov and Daniel
Cormier. “Body of work, finishes. I rank him above Khabib and
DC. People around him are talking about [retirement], but there’s a
lot left in that boy,†he said in an interview.

Terence Crawford reacts to Conor McGregors UFC 329 injury with brutal message

Terence “Bud†Crawford has addressed Conor
McGregor's anticlimactic return to action in the
Ultimate Fighting Championship.
McGregor's return to the Octagon ended in just 69 seconds at
UFC 329. The former two-division champion seemingly injured his
right knee in the opening sequence of the fight, leading to a
stoppage from the referee as he was unable to continue.
UFC CEO Dana
White subsequently speculated that it could be an ACL-related
issue, an unfortunate occurrence considering McGregor's last bout
before UFC 329 also ended in a leg injury.
Terence Crawford says Conor McGregor’s UFC 329 injury was ‘God
punish them’ after the former champion’s 69-second loss.
Crawford, who has gone back and forth with McGregor previously,
believes the Irishman got what was coming his way. The unbeaten
boxer and the MMA superstar were once rumored to be squaring off in
a two-fight crossover series across both combat sports, and
McGregor claimed Crawford turned down a $200 million deal, which
the latter has since dismissed.
“It's crazy when they talk sh*t to me God punish them,†Crawford
wrote on X.
This isn't the first time Crawford has addressed an MMA result.
After Ilia
Topuria suffered the first defeat of his professional career at
UFC Freedom 250 to Justin
Gaethje, “Bud†questioned the hype behind “El Matador†going
into the historic White House event. Notably, Topuria had
previously claimed he could beat Crawford in boxing.
“This the guy that said he would knock me out and whoop me and
Shakur at the same time?†Crawford posted after UFC Freedom
250.

Ultimate Fighting Championship debut, Gable
Steveson has responded to Josh Hokit's
trash talk.
Steveson defeated Elisha
Ellison at
UFC 329, extending his professional record to 4-0 and recording
his fourth straight first-round finish. Hokit, who's emerged as one
of the most polarizing figures in the UFC, has issued threats to
Steveson and his mentor, Jon Jones,
drawing a reaction from the Olympian.

victory
Hokit took to X to share a clip from one of Steveson's pre-fight
interviews wherein the latter questioned the former's skills. “The
Incredible Hok†listed his many athletic achievements before
suggesting that both Steveson and Jones steer clear of him.
“Remember, this ain't wrestling,†Hokit wrote on X. “If anyone
signs up to face me in a fist fight, better have a good insurance
policy. It will take your doctor time to put your face back
together, unless you quit like the last guy I fought. This includes
the guy [Jon Jones]
that trains you. I'm the baddest man on the planet.â€
Steveson responded at the UFC 329 post-fight presser, claiming that
he and Hokit have contrasting priorities.
“Like I said, I like Josh as a fighter,†Steveson said. “Josh is a
character. Josh wants to make sure people follow him on Instagram
or follow him on Twitter. I go out there and dominate. I go out
there and win. So, if the time comes with Josh, if he doesn't move
down before that, so be it, will make it happen.â€
