BOXXER signs a contract to broadcast many fights with DAZN, PBC is now an independent company

Published

BOXXER announced a multi-fight partnership with DAZN on June 9, with promoter Ben Shalom’s company set to stage its first event under the deal on August 8 at the First Direct Bank Arena in Leeds. The main attraction of the event will be a rematch between Troy Williamson and Callum Simpson, some eight months after Williamson stopped Simpson in the tenth round to win the British, Commonwealth and European super middleweight titles.

The deal does not end BOXXER’s relationship with the BBC, which has done so distributed promotional cards on public television since his four-year contract with Sky Sports expired about a year ago. BoxingScene reported that BOXXER will continue its partnership with the BBC, while DAZN will handle wider distribution, with a pay-per-view event scheduled for later this year.

Shalom shapes partnerships

“We are delighted to partner with DAZN, the world’s home of boxing, to bring this event to a global audience,” Shalom said in a statement. “Leeds will provide an incredible atmosphere on August 8 and we are excited to build on this momentum by bringing more major events to DAZN, including the massive BOXXER PPV event later this year.”

DAZN Group adds another promoter

BOXXER becomes the latest established promoter to partner with DAZN. The streamer already offers Matchroom Boxing, Top Rank, Golden Boy Promotions and Queensberry Promotions, each of which has signed multi-year deals that bring most of the promotion’s classic boxing under one subscription. Frank Warren’s Queensberry moved to the platform in 2025, leaving BOXXER as the last major UK promoter off it until Tuesday’s announcement.

BOXXER is separately seeking an injunction in English courts against Zuffa Boxing and Sky Sports regarding two fighters it claims are still under contract, Chris Billam-Smith and Sam Hickey. Zuffa Boxing rejected these claims and continued the June 6 event in Bournemouth, headlined by Billam-Smith.

PBC is the last main promoter from outside the Group

Thanks to BOXXER’s partnership with DAZN, Premier Boxing Champions is the only main promoter operating outside the DAZN group and TKO-owned Zuffa Boxing. PBC is produced via Amazon Prime Video, primarily on a pay-per-view basis, and the schedule is confined to a few cards per year. Al Haymon’s company has not announced any moves for either side.

Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua location update as one stadium venue reportedly ruled out

The fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua has been the most desired fight in British boxing for some time, and the signed contract has brought it closer than ever. Assumptions that the event will take place in the UK, however, can be taken for granted.

Rumors and attempts at a Fury vs. Joshua fight have been circulating for years, and both men are considered pillars of glamor boxing. However, the long-winded competition has so far failed to break the ropes.

British boxing fans were given hope this year when it was announced that the pair had agreed to fight in 2026in anticipation of “AJ’s” official “warm-up” against Kristian Prenga in July, with Fury potentially fighting his own fight at a similar level.

Although the UK was considered the obvious leader in terms of location, The boxing scene it was recently reported that Fury-Joshua may end up at SoFi Stadium near Los Angeles instead.

SoFi Stadium is home to the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers and will be used eight times during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as well as next year’s Super Bowl LXI.

Although the facility, which could accommodate up to 100,000 fight fans, had not previously been used to host boxing events, it was used to host WrestleMania 39 in 2023, which was scheduled to follow a schedule similar to fight night.

However, in response to the reports, boxing journalist Dan Rafael offered conflicting observations.

“According to a source with direct knowledge of the plans, assuming Joshua and Fury win their warm-up fights, their fight will take place in November in the UK. It will not be in Los Angeles.”

As Rafael states, both Fury and Joshua must complete their “warm-up” bouts unscathed in order to start the fight and reveal official details about their meeting. Until then, fans will likely have to speculate as to where this megafight might take place.

Location talks further confused the event after Zuffa Boxing’s Dana White stated he would be the main promoter. This was strongly refuted by Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren, who represent Joshua and Fury respectively.

Tim Bradley tells Keyshawn Davis he will always be “second fiddle” to Shakur Stevenson

Tim Bradley believes Keyshawn Davis is once again being pushed to the side as attention shifts to a potential showdown between Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson.

Haney and Stevenson have spent recent days discussing the possibility of facing each other at catchweight, and both fighters have publicly expressed interest in making the fight happen. If negotiations move forward, Davis could wait even though he is the WBO’s top welterweight contender.

“If this fight [Haney-Shakur] it will be done, Keyshawn, I told you. I told you, boy. You get in line for the belt and so on [expletive]Man. Shakur’s about to get you into this. I told you. I told you. I told you, boy. Second fiddle always to Shakur Stevenson. Yes,” Bradley said on his channel.

“He’s better than you. That’s the point. He’s better than you.”

Keyshawn spent weeks fighting Haney, repeatedly reminding the WBO welterweight champion that he was in a must-see position. Haney has previously shown interest in the fight, but recent developments have focused on a possible meeting with Stevenson.

Bradley also wondered where a potential Haney-Stevenson fight should take place.

“Please, one request, Turki Alalshikh, Zuffa Boxing, whoever, whoever the hell organizes this fight, if the fight is agreed, let this fight take place in America, please. We don’t want any offense towards Saudi Arabia, any offense against them, but have Shakur and Haney in America. Please do it in America, man.”

No official settlement has been announced for either Haney-Stevenson or Haney-Davis.

Frank Bruno doubles down on Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua verdict: ‘Ancient age has caught up with him’

Canelo Alvarez picks a winner in Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua mega fight: “I go with him”

23 years after Lennox Lewis and Frank Bruno’s notable ‘Battle of Britain’, boxing is on the verge of a similar but bigger event that will see domestic heavyweight rivals Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua collide. Looking ahead to the proposed fight, Bruno doubled his prediction on how the fight would go.

In 1993, Frank Bruno was defeated by Lewis, stopped in the seventh round, which was the third unsuccessful challenge for the heavyweight crown. The event at the Millennium Stadium was the first all-British clash for the coveted throne and marked the beginning of an impressive run of success.

This has since grown to seven all-British world heavyweight title contests, with Daniel Dubois and Fabio Wardley most recently going to war, and the latter activated the rematch clause and scored the eighth goal.

There will be no world title if Fury and Joshua collide, but that won’t stop the main event from becoming one of the biggest in recent sporting history

Both fighters are scheduled to do a “warm-up” before the match – Fury’s announcement has yet to be made official – as Joshua looks to gain additional experience under newly appointed coach Iegor Golub when he faces Kristian Prenga in July.

Last month, Bruno praised the move, believing Joshua’s attitude would make the difference on fight night, saying: “If he’s in a good mood, I don’t see him having a problem.”

Now in interview for iFL TVBruno stood by this opinion, believing that “age has caught up with Fury” and that Joshua will take advantage of it if he is in the right headspace.

“It will be a good fight, I think it will definitely last, but I think Tyson Fury is getting aged. Even his dad says so: [about his] aged age. I hope he does very, very well.

“He has the survival skills you know, Tyson, but Joshua is a very good fighter – if he believes in himself. If he goes out there believing in himself, it will be a tough fight for Tyson.

“We need it, it’s good for boxing.”

Joshua returns on July 25 against Prenga, and Fury could face his own Albanian heavyweight next month. If they both win, their own Battle of Britain will take place in mid-November.
