Zuffa Boxing returns to the fight that ended brutally for the first time. Edwin De Los Santos and Jose “Rayo” Valenzuela will fight a lightweight rematch in the main event of Zuffa Boxing 08 on August 15 at The Chelsea at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, with the event streaming on Paramount+.

De Los Santos’ first fight with Valenzuela in 2022 lasted just three rounds, but it changed the direction of both fighters’ careers. De Los Santos defeated Valenzuela twice before finishing him in the third round with one of the biggest knockouts of the year. Valenzuela later rebuilt his position with victories that pushed him back to lightweight, while De Los Santos continued to enter the conversation for hazardous fights due to his hard-hitting and high-pressure style.
The rematch will take place at an compelling time for both players. Valenzuela has spent the last few years trying to prove that the first defeat was more due to inexperience and defensive mistakes than to ceiling problems. Meanwhile, De Los Santos returns to the exact opponent he has already stopped, which creates a different kind of pressure. If he wins again, especially by knockout, the first result will seem constant rather than accidental.
It looks like Zuffa is building the card around action fights rather than titles. In the joint film, Omar Trinidad will face former world champion Jerwin Ancajas in a 12-round featherweight fight. Brandun Lee will also return to face Cain Sandoval in a 10-round welterweight fight.
The event will take place in Las Vegas, rather than in a larger arena, which is consistent with the direction Zuffa Boxing has taken in its presentation so far. The company focused heavily on compact cards built around recognizable names and aggressive matchmaking, rather than layering championship belts across the lineup.
The 26-year-old De Los Santos has only fought three times since his knockout victory over Valenzuela in 2022, but his strength remains a real problem at lightweight. In his last appearance on December 13, 2025, he knocked out Eliot Chavez in the first round with the kind of shots that can instantly change a fight. Chavez is nowhere near Valenzuela’s level, but the punching power that De Los Santos showed in this fight makes a rematch hazardous for Rayo before August 15.

Frank Warren defended Daniel Dubois ahead of his fight with Fabio Wardley, deflecting criticism of his behavior during fight week. Warren said Dubois prefers to remain mute and let his in-ring performance speak for him.
In a speech ahead of Saturday’s match against Fabio Wardley in Manchester, Warren stressed that Dubois preferred to remain private even after his career-best win over Anthony Joshua.
“Anyone who fights Daniel is trying to get under his skin,” Warren said secondit’s about Dubois. “Fabio does the same thing. It’s not Daniel’s style to do that. He’s more of an introvert. Fabio is very articulate, very good at speaking, while Daniel is articulate but doesn’t really want to do it.
“I’m looking at 93,000 people at Wembley when he did an absolute job on AJ. He took him to the floor five or six times before knocking him out. Then in the locker room he wanted to go home. I had to drag him to the press conference behind us and he has a great victory.”
Warren said too much attention is paid to Dubois’ personality and not his in-ring performance. Wardley repeatedly questioned Dubois’ behavior during fight week in Manchester.
Dubois’ perceived “awkwardness” became a major topic during fight week. Dubois has gained attention this week after several uncomfortable interviews and tense moments during a media tour of Manchester ahead of Saturday’s fight with Wardley.
Former IBF heavyweight champion Dubois stopped Anthony Joshua in five rounds at Wembley Stadium last year and now fights Wardley for the WBO heavyweight title in Manchester.
Wardley was promoted from interim to full WBO heavyweight champion after Oleksandr Usyk vacated the title in November 2025.
