Eddie Hearn: Conor Benn will be booed against Regis Prograis
Eddie Hearn has predicted a frosty reception for Conor Benn in his fight against Regis Prograis next month.
Benn is fighting for the first time since dramatically leaving Hearn’s Matchroom to join Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing on a one-fight deal reportedly worth $15 million.
Hearn, who has staunchly supported the 29-year-old after two failed drug tests, revealed that Benn refused to speak to him following his decision to leave Matchroom.
‘The Destroyer’ will face former super lightweight world champion Prograis at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 11 as part of Netflix’s live coverage of Tyson Fury v Arslanbek Makhmudov.
Benn returns to the scene of his two fights with Chris Eubank Jr, the second of which he won by unanimous decision in Novemberafter losing the first fight on points in April last year.
However, Hearn believes the Ilford man will face a hostile reception from the public following their public conflict.
“I think the public reaction will be engaging at Spurs when he leaves,” the 46-year-old said Boxing now.
– Because honestly, I think he’ll be booed in the stadium.
“If this happens, I’ll be a lot more popular than I thought.”

Benn’s two fights with Eubank Jr were at middleweight, but his match with Prograis will be contested at the 150-pound catchweight.
“The Destroyer” says his desire remains to win the welterweight world title, with WBC champion Ryan Garcia as a potential future fight.
But Prograis, who snapped a two-fight losing streak with a unanimous decision victory over Jo Jo Diaz in August, has vowed to tear up the script and believes he is one level better than Benn.
“I feel like I can beat Benn,” the 37-year-old said Professional boxing fans.
“In terms of skills, I am better.
“He might weigh 180-200 pounds, it won’t matter.
“I know I have power and I am world-class.
“I’m 37 now, but I’m feeling better and better, I’m going to go out there, shine, have fun and do what I have to do.”

Jaron Ennis is the bookmakers’ main favorite to defeat Xander Zayas in their highly anticipated world title clash on Saturday in Brooklyn.
Ennis challenges Zayas for the WBO and WBA super welterweight belts at the Barclays Center live on DAZN pay-per-view.

On Wednesday, Lewis Crocker heads to Australia to defend his IBF welterweight world title against Liam Paro for the first time.
Crocker will face Paro at the Pat Rafter Arena in Queensland, live on DAZN in the UK and Kayo Sports in Australia.
Crocker (22-0, 11 KO) became world champion in September, defeating Paddy Donovan twice before winning the rematch by split decision.
Man from Belfast recorded his second victory over Donovan after the first victory in March last year, and his rival was disqualified for hitting him after the bell.
Paro (27-1, 16 KO) is trying to become a world champion in two weight categories, having previously reigned in the super-lightweight division.
The 30-year-old won the title with a unanimous decision victory over Subriel Matias in Puerto Rico before winning the belt in his first defense against Richardson Hitchins.
The Australian has since won twice, overtaking David Papot in his last appearance in September.
McKean meets Taliva
Heavyweight Demsey McKean will look to continue his rebuild when he faces Liam Talivaa for the vacant IBF Pan Pacific title.
