Terence Crawford makes his feelings clear on Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing

Terence Crawford has given his verdict on Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing appearance.

After spending more than two decades turning the mixed martial arts giant UFC into a global powerhouse, White entered the world of boxing to more mixed reviews in an attempt to take the formula he created in MMA and translate it to another combat sport.

It seems that some of the established boxing promoters did not take too kindly to his arrival, and one of the more critical voices was Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn, who commented on the shows Zuffa has organized so far.

However, White has made some significant moves so far, signing former long-time Matchroom player Conor Benn for $15 million, with the promise of more large names to come.

One of the large names White worked with in September was Crawford, as the UFC CEO acted as promoter of the fight between “Bud” and Canelo Alvarez at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Crawford won this fight and became the undisputed super middleweight champion before retiring in December, but the 38-year-old remains an avid sports watcher.

With this in mind, he revealed live broadcast with Adin Ross that he thinks Zuffa’s arrival could have a positive impact.

“It’s good for boxing. Anything that brings more eyes to the sport is good for it. They put on great competitive fights.”

Zuffa has held four events this year, all at Meta Apex in Las Vegas, with another show scheduled for early April.

The Jarrell Miller-Lenier Pero fight will take place on April 25 in Las Vegas

Miller (27-1-2, 22 KO) will take a split decision over Kingsley Ibeh in January. A fight in which he took more than expected and failed to separate himself in a convincing manner. This came after Lucas Browne was retained in 2023, which remains his only clear victory in that stretch. He retained his public persona as he works for the promotion and reached for it again when the fight was announced. “The most stimulating and entertaining heavyweight in the world returns to action with fireworks,” Miller said. “And remember, when you step into the ring with me, a wig always comes with a price!”

The opponent has a different profile. Lenier Pero (13-0, 8 KO) has pedigree and size, but his career is moving at a moderate pace. The two-time Pan American champion and 2016 Olympian has a win over Guido Vianello and a loss to Filip Hrgovic in his amateur days. As a professional, he took his time. His last fight was a decision over Jordan Thompson, a natural cruiserweight, and his 2023 fight with Viktor Faust ended in unusual circumstances. The possibilities are there, but there hasn’t been much evidence against the top heavyweights lately.

The physical side of the fight is immediately striking. Judging by their recent weigh-in, Miller will likely be significantly heavier, and the difference could be as much as 80 pounds. These types of disparities change the look of the fight and place more emphasis on how Pero handles size and pressure based on distance.

“I respect Jarrell Miller and what he brings to the ring, but this is a great opportunity for me to continue to improve,” Pero said. “I have worked my whole life for moments like this, and each fight is another step towards my goal of becoming a world champion.”

For Hearn, fighting is a adaptable element. Miller is a recognizable name who can be assigned to different roles depending on the result, while Pero has a chance to attribute his record to someone who is observable. The stakes are not defined by titles, but by positioning. One of them is edging closer to prominence in a department that’s always looking for useful names, and the other is slipping back into the middle of the pack.

Sources: Jermall Charlo will fight Armando Resendiz for the WBA belt

Published

Jermall Charlo (34-0, 23 KO) will fight Armando Resendiz (16-2, 11 KO) for the WBA super middleweight title on May 2 as the co-main event of Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez’s cruiserweight title fight against David Benavidez in Las Vegas, sources confirmed to ESPN on Tuesday.

The fight will be part of the PBC Pay-Per-View event on Prime Video, which will take place at the T-Mobile Arena. Boxeo de Primera was the first to report that the Charlo-Resendiz fight was being planned.

Discussions over whether Resendiz would face Charlo in his first title defense began a month ago after a proposed fight against Jaime Munguia reportedly fell apart. Resendiz, who won the interim title last May after a stunning loss to Caleb Plant, was elevated to full champion following Terence Crawford’s retirement in December. Charlo appeared on the same card and stopped Thomas LaManna, ending an 18-month break from boxing. Resendiz’s victory thwarted plans for a fight between Plant and Charlo.

Instead, Resendiz will have a tough task ahead of him in his first title defense against a former two-division world champion.

Charlo, 35, has won middleweight and junior middleweight world titles, but has fought sporadically over the past five years, with only four fights since 2020. Still, he maintains an undefeated record and will aim to become a three-division world champion by challenging an upset Resendiz.

After eliminating Plant, Resendiz now looks to confirm his victory by defeating another high-profile fighter in his initial WBA title defense.

Resendiz, 27, became a name to watch when he knocked out Jarrett Hurd in 2023. However, his momentum dropped when Elijah Garcia stopped him in the next fight. After getting back into the win column against Fernando Paliza, he was assigned to fight Plant, but was viewed as nothing more than an opponent before shocking the former super middleweight champion.

Dubois accuses Baumgardner of skipping 130 fights

Image: Caroline Dubois Accuses Alycia Baumgardner Of Skipping 130-Pound Fights

“This bogus coward!!… He called out and proposed a super featherweight fight. That’s what this clown wanted to fight,” Dubois wrote. “Miss Scary Ass says she will move up to fight Claressa Shields at 147 pounds and Katie Taylor at 140 pounds.”

Dubois says Baumgardner is not taking fights at 130 pounds.

Fighters start to skip their own divisions when bigger fights take place in higher weight classes. The belts stay with them, but the rivals below must wait.

Baumgardner (17-1, 7 KO) is now in this position. Serrano stands out as the biggest fight still available. The other names she mentioned are above her weight class and attract more attention.

They point in different directions. Baumgardner talks about Serrano and bigger names above her weight.

Dubois sees it differently. Baumgardner still holds the belts at 130, but is talking about fighting two divisions up, leaving his opponents down the line waiting. Dubois holds the lightweight title and insists on fighting in a closer weight class.

Baumgardner did not respond to the accusations. Her attention remains focused on Serrano. IBF, WBA and WBO super featherweight champion Baumgardner defeated Leila Beaudoin by unanimous decision of 12 rounds last December.

Baumgardner, 31, had already beaten most of the fighters at 130, which left fewer obvious options in the division. Dubois wants the fight that is there, while Baumgardner chases whoever pays for it. From Alycia’s perspective, she is simply looking for profitable fights to capitalize on her popularity. That’s understandable.
