Three men Tyson Fury could face in his comeback fight
Tyson Fury has announced that he will return to boxing after numerous social media posts announcing his return.
Fury has not fought for over 12 months and was last seen in action in December 2024, where he was defeated for a second time by Oleksandr Usyk.
It wasn’t the first time the “Gypsy King” announced his retirement, but it was the first time he was no longer undefeated.
Fury was on the wrong side of losing by consecutive decisions in both fights with Usyk, in which he was outclassed for 24 rounds.
He claimed he was done with boxing and retired in January last year, but to the delight of many in the boxing world, he revealed that he would be back, but the opponent he would face was unknown.
Arslanbek Makhmudov
Arslanbek Makhmudov is a name that continues to be linked to Fury as a potential next fight.
On paper it makes a lot of sense.
Makhmudov is a constant threat, as evidenced by his staggering knockout rate of over 90%.
‘The Lion’ scored a major victory over Yorkshire cult hero Dave Allen.
The pair fought in front of a packed Sheffield Arena, where Makhmudov won a comfortable points decision.
Despite the threat of a knockout, the Russian should be a comfortable rematch for the “Gypsy King”, who has been beating Makhmudov at a much higher level for twenty years.
This fight is probably the most likely one at the moment, as Fury is set to fight for the world title later in the year.
Fabio Wardley
WBO world champion Fabio Wardley has become the main candidate for the fight with Fury, which will take place later in 2026.
A fight with Warley would give him a chance to become a three-time heavyweight champion
Considering Fury has lost twice to another world champion in Usyk, a fight with Wardley makes a lot more sense.
There definitely seems to be legs behind this fight, as both men comment.
Fury said on social media: “Large smoke for GK after a long break. [Wardley] may be an option later in 2026.
“Let’s see how I look and how I will cope when I come back.”
Wardley didn’t hesitate to have fun with the fight in an interview with Sky Sports, stating: “It’s good. [to be named on Fury’s hit list] because he was already on mine.
“That would be a fight I’m very keen on. Call me anytime.”
Mahmud Carr
The third name Fury could face is Mahmoud Charr.
Charr is a former (regular) WBA world champion who won the title in 2017 against Alexander Ustinov by points decision.
He was later stripped of the 2022 title due to inactivity.
A 2023 court ruling restored his WBA title, which he then lost to Kubrat Pulev in 2024.
On Monday, Charr called out Fury.
The latest name Fury has opened the door to is WBC interim world champion Agit Kabayel.
The German returns to action next weekend against undefeated Polish heavyweight Damian Knyba.
Looks like he’s making an impression at the homecoming competition in Oberhausen, Germany.
Considering his WBC title and good streak, a fight with Kabayel may interest the “Gypsy King”.
Like Wardley, this may be seen as a step too far to take immediately after more than a year out of the ring, but it may make sense later in 2026.

Jaron Ennis is the bookmakers’ main favorite to defeat Xander Zayas in their highly anticipated world title clash on Saturday in Brooklyn.
Ennis challenges Zayas for the WBO and WBA super welterweight belts at the Barclays Center live on DAZN pay-per-view.
The undefeated resident of Philadelphia enters the game as the favorite on February 11 Bet365 give the 23-year-old his first professional defeat and become world champion in two weight categories.
“Boots” has stopped 31 of his 35 opponents, including Uisma Lima in his 154-pound debut in October, and is expected to stop the Puerto Rican on 20/21.
The 28-year-old last covered this distance in 2024, and a decision victory is valued at 13/2.
Even though Zayas has taken over as unified champion, he is an underdog Bet365 at 15/04.
Man from San Juan defeated Abass Baraou by split decision will add the WBA belt to his WBO crown in January and his best chance of victory is rated at 13/2 by decision, while success in the shock break is rated at 14/1.

On Wednesday, Lewis Crocker heads to Australia to defend his IBF welterweight world title against Liam Paro for the first time.
Crocker will face Paro at the Pat Rafter Arena in Queensland, live on DAZN in the UK and Kayo Sports in Australia.
Crocker (22-0, 11 KO) became world champion in September, defeating Paddy Donovan twice before winning the rematch by split decision.
Man from Belfast recorded his second victory over Donovan after the first victory in March last year, and his rival was disqualified for hitting him after the bell.
Paro (27-1, 16 KO) is trying to become a world champion in two weight categories, having previously reigned in the super-lightweight division.
The 30-year-old won the title with a unanimous decision victory over Subriel Matias in Puerto Rico before winning the belt in his first defense against Richardson Hitchins.
The Australian has since won twice, overtaking David Papot in his last appearance in September.
McKean meets Taliva
Heavyweight Demsey McKean will look to continue his rebuild when he faces Liam Talivaa for the vacant IBF Pan Pacific title.
McKean (24-2, 16 KO) had his career cut miniature after a last-round loss to Filip Hrgovic, followed by a brutal first-round loss to Moses Itauma.

The 35-year-old southpaw returned to winning ways with back-to-back stoppage victories.
Talivaa (8-2, 4 KO) last won the IBF Oceania-Orient title, defeating Faiga Opelu by first-round stoppage.
