Nigerian police said the driver of the car involved in the crash that injured Anthony Joshua and killed two people has been charged with reckless and unsafe driving.
Adeniyi Mobalaji Kayode, 46, was driving a Lexus SUV on the Lagos-Ibadan highway when it collided with a stationary truck. Joshua and the driver suffered minor injuries in the crash, while Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, two members of the British-Nigerian boxer’s training team, died.
The Ogun State Police Command issued a statement on Friday saying that the driver was arraigned on Friday before a Sagamu Magistrate’s Court.
A police spokesman told AFP that Kayode was charged with “reckless” and “unsafe driving causing death”, driving without a valid driving license and driving “without due care and attention, causing bodily injury and damage to property”.
They said he was granted bail of five million naira ($3,500) but would remain in custody until he meets his bail conditions.
Kayode is scheduled to appear in court on January 20.
– Former champion Anthony Joshua has been released from hospital following a car accident – The Jake Paul show isn’t over yet, but where is it going?

Ghami, Joshua’s strength and conditioning coach, and Ayodele, the trainer, were pronounced dead at the scene. Joshua and his mother visited a funeral home in Lagos on Wednesday to pay their last respects.
Joshua, who was born in Watford, has family roots in Sagamu, a town in Ogun State, close to the site of the disaster.
The boxer was in Nigeria following his recent victory over Jake Paul on December 19.
