Brian Norman Sr. predicts that his son, Norman’s WBO welterweight champion, will make Devin Haney with Norman’s power “uncomfortable,” causing his pre-existing self-doubt to intensify on November 22.
Norman Sr. was amused to hear what Haney’s sparring partner, Troy Isley, said about how Devin created distance between them and used his superior technical skills to neutralize Norman’s “physicality.”
Running is prohibited in Riyad
Brian Sr. points out that Norman Jr. (28-0, 22 KO) has more reach than Haney (32-0, 16 KO) and is excellent at cutting off the ring from his opponents if they try to escape.
Haney vs. Norman Jr. will take place on November 22 at the ANB Arena in Riyad, Saudi Arabia on the undercard of the David Benavidez vs. Anthony Yarde fight. The event will be broadcast on DAZN PPV for $59.99 for US fans.
“He definitely doesn’t have the power of Brian Norman. We know that,” Brian Norman Sr. said MillCity Boxing about how Devin Haney doesn’t have the power that Norman Jr. has. “They said they were concerned about the physicality. None of them have the power that Brian Norman has. To me, that’s the biggest thing,” Brian Sr. said of Haney and his sparring partner, Troy Isley, who don’t have Norman Jr.’s power.
Devin is not in the same league as Norman Jr. when it comes to power. Even if Norman’s last opponent, Jin Sasaki, packs a bigger punch than Haney. He’s nowhere near in this section. He only has one hope of defeating Brian Jr. and it is to bang and move all night long on November 22nd.
Father’s Warning
“You feel uncomfortable. That’s how power works. Every fighter goes through a shadow of doubt before a fight,” Norman Jr. said. “When you have doubts, you go in there and deal with the person who turns you upside down. You know what’s at stake. It’s going to be challenging to deal with. We’ll see on November 22.”
If Devin doesn’t get “uncomfortable,” he could be knocked out or dropped multiple times by one of Norman’s hefty punches. Haney looked like a human yo-yo when Ryan Garcia knocked him down during their fight on April 20, 2024. Garcia dropped Devin six times, but the referee only counted three of them.
If Ryan had the two-fisted strength of Norman Jr., Haney would not have made it out of the seventh round. It was there that he was knocked down multiple times by Kingry.
He doesn’t have the courage to stand up and trade with 24-year-old Norman Jr. We’ve seen this over and over again in Devin’s fights. That’s why it holds and moves so much. There is no impact resistance.
