In the latest rankings of the Ring magazine for Super Middle Wwweight Canelo Alvarez he was moved from Master to No. 1 after losing to Crawford on Saturday evening. The rankings were updated on September 15, 2025.
Bud is now the Ring champion in 168 after just one fight in the weight class. This was perceived as a enormous enough win for Crawford (42-0, 31 KO) to give him a master of the master. He became a triangular unquestioned champion and won his title of the fifth division.
Dubious Alvarez ranking No. 1
It is doubtful whether Canelo (63-3-2, 39 KO) deserves ranking No. 1, because there are probably four fighters listed under it in the top ten of the ring, who would have a great chance to beat him like Crawford, but in a more impressive way.
I believe that 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 would defeat Alvarez. #10 to William Scull, a warrior who defeated Canelo on May 3. However, I suspect that he would fight much more aggressively in the rematch after seeing what Crawford did Canelo. Scull is better than what he showed against Canelo.
I assess his power, hand speed and combination skills over the Ring Crawford champion. Scull did not apply his talent against Canelo.
Ring in the top ten for a super medium weight
Master: Terence Crawford
- Canelo Alvarez
- Oslyys Iglesias
- Christian Milli
- Lester Martinez
- Diego Pacheco
- Jose Armando Resendiz
- Caleb plant
- Hamzah Sheeraz
- Bruno Surace
- William Scull
Unofficial king: Iglesias
Oslyys Iglesias (14-0, 13 KO) should be in my opinion number 1 and I think that he would beat everyone on the updated r Creor list for 168, including Crawford. Southpaw Iglesias’ power in the right hook, left hand and JAB would be tough to deal with it. It has the same range as Crawford and cuts off the ring well.
Crawford pressure fighters avoid
After watching Mbilla, Martinez and Pakco through their entire career, they are gigantic problems for Crawford with their power, size and pressure. They are guys who would not be cautious and they would constantly attack Crawford.
Crawford’s concentration on maximizing your income and the desire to capture more belts means that it is unlikely to defend your unquestioned super -medium championships towards any of these warriors.
Crawford’s Bait for Canelo
Terenka has not released his titles yet, because he probably holds them to apply them as a bait to lure Canelo to the second fight. However, if he does not get a rematch, Crawford will probably leave the title when he will be able to defend himself against Iglesias and the winner of Mbilli Vs. Martinez.
