Oscar de la Hoya remains unaware of why Canelo hates him

The head of Golden Boy, Oscar de la Hoya, shed delicate on his broken relationship with Canelo Alvarez, admitting that he still does not know exactly what caused the division.

Speaking in Podcastie All the Smoke Fight, de la Hoya was asked directly about rainfall with his former star warrior. Hall of Famer revealed that the first signs of distance appeared after the fight of Floyd Mayweather vs. Canelo Álvarez in 2013.

De la Hoya admitted that he could not take part in the event because he was on rehab, but he tried to call Canelo before the fight.

De la Hoya theory on Canelo

“I actually called Canelo during rehabilitation and said I am sorry, I am here and I cannot do it, and he said,” Oh, I understand, and we will win, “and it was,” said De la Hoya. “After that, there were no problems, so I can’t indicate.”

After pressing, when the problems began, de la Hoya pointed to one possible factor.

“It can be jealousy, because I remember every time I go to the room where he is, all attention turns to me. They have a lot of love, so there must be some jealousy.

“That’s all I can come up with because we are straightforward shooters.”

The head of Golden Boy continued, insisting that he never misled Alvarez during their joint stay.

“That is why I am a promoter for over twenty years, because we are straightforward shooters. I am a warrior myself, so I know what it is like to cheat. I know how it is for promoters to promise you and that side.”

Asked if there were any other hidden problems, de la Hoya was blunt.

“Zero. Zero. No one.”

De la Hoya said he wanted Canelo to share his side of history one day.

“I hope so because I need an answer,” he summed up De la Hoya.

History of Wales

Speaking earlier in another interview, this time with Shannon Sharpe at the Shay Shay club, de la Hoya admitted that Canelo hates him. President Golden Boy added that he did not want Canelo to fight Mayweather at all.

I said Canelo: “Don’t fight Floyd because you are too youthful. You have no experience.” He is 21 years senior and bends his muscles like: “I can face Floyd; I’m the best. Guess what, I’m learning. It wasn’t close!”

“I can do it (another great fight), but Canelo hates me from me ***. It would be a lot of money, but this is not a heritage. I don’t think Canelo has something to prove.

“I think that Canelo of course is now fighting for money, for which I do not blame him, if he fights. But for example, not to take Benavidez, to which the world calls him; he is harmful to his reputation and his heritage for not taking this main warrior in his career.”
