Exclusive WBO Oath to enforce the rules regarding Usyk vs Parker
Published
1 year agoon
Exclusive Despite the public interest of Turki Alalshikh in battle, the World Boxing Organization will continue to enforce Oleksandr Usyk vs Joseph Parker as a compulsory defense.
President WBO Gustavo Olivieri confirmed only World Boxing News that the organization enforces its principles without exception, causing the battlefield in the bag on August 23, thirty days from the official decision issued on July 24.
WBO enforces rules
“Note that I am obliged to follow and consistently enforce regulatory frames regulating the world boxing organization,” said Olivieri WBN.
“In the present case, Usyk must release his mandatory obligation to Joseph Parker. WBO duly notified all parties through the applicable negotiations and the order. This is unable to intervene in to conduct WBO intervention in order to conduct proceedings in the field of bidding of the bag in accordance with the relevant provisions.
“Simply put, I have to play according to the rules regardless of who is a warrior, promoter, manager, adviser, broker, etc.” – added Olivieri.
Alalshikha attitude
The declaration is clearly contrasting with the comments of Alalshikha, who announced “not interested” by issuing the next unquestioned fight of the master with the Parker.
Despite the growing rocking of Alalshikha over the biggest nights in boxing, WBO explained that it does not bend the rules, regardless of the influence or financial force.
Alalshikh wanted Moses to be next for Usyk instead of Parker, but there is no chance that all four lanes would be on the line, because the youthful British pretender is not on the mandatory list.
Parker is the number one with WBO, then Agit Kabayel from WBC. Then the WBA resolution appears, currently “ordinary” Master Kubrat Pulev, with a grace period earlier.
Usyk Shada lost the titles
Usyk can then arrange another voluntary phase before IBF returns to the game, but all this depends on the Usyk according to all obligatory orders.
Together with the ongoing thirty -day countdown of the Usyk team, he must either finalize the conditions with the Parker, or prepare for the WBO to open the fights. Non -compliance with the risk of the WBO title.
It is not for the first time to lose part of his massive crown a few weeks after folding it together. The same happened when he first beat Tyson Fury, when Dubois gained a belt without a fight.
Usyk finally caught up with his ancient rival, knocked him out and took his title in July.
Parker, driving a wave of revival with victories over Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang, can expect to raise from his position as a fleeting ruler by the end of the month.
The Broad Ukrainian stands in the face of direct choice – a mandatory or lost belt.

David Benavidez Finally Pursues Canelo Alvarez Three Years Later
Published
2 hours agoon
October 18, 2026
David Benavidez has finally conceded that a fight with Canelo Alvarez will never happen, admitting that reality years after his climb up the divisions settled the question.
Benavidez currently fights at cruiserweight, two full divisions above super middleweight, while openly discussing a future heavyweight jump against Oleksandr Usyk. He has not made 168 pounds since 2023. Any realistic window to face Canelo closed several weight classes ago.
“I think honestly I could say with confidence that that fight is never going to happen,” Benavidez told Brian Custer.
When Brian asked if he had permanently moved on, Benavidez praised Canelo, yet still claimed the Mexican star simply refused to face him.
“I don’t want to keep disrespecting somebody … not even disrespecting, but just calling somebody out that doesn’t want to fight,” he said.
That rationale ignores the massive physical gap separating them today. Critics can reasonably argue Canelo should have met Benavidez when both shared the 168-pound division. That complaint loses all weight with Benavidez now preparing for Michal Cieslak at 200 pounds.
His prospective roadmap includes Jai Opetaia, Artur Beterbiev, and eventual heavyweight tests. None of those plans lead anywhere near Canelo.
A logical alternative after Canelo fell to Terence Crawford would have been targeting Crawford directly. Crawford had talked of entering boxing’s Mount Rushmore. The public intrigue around him was at an all-time peak, and Turki Alalshikh held the purse strings to fund virtually any blockbuster Crawford wanted next.
If Benavidez truly wanted to settle the score on the belts Canelo kept out of reach, Crawford was the obvious lever to pull. Instead of shifting his crosshairs to the newly crowned undisputed champion, Benavidez let the moment disappear.
“He’s a great fighter. He’s a legend,” Benavidez said. “I would like to be a great Mexican legend like him one day.”
Calling yourself a future Mexican legend sounds nice in an interview, but looking at the actual resume tells a different story. Canelo earned that status by taking on the toughest challenges available from junior middleweight all the way to light heavyweight, facing elite operators like Floyd Mayweather Jr., Gennadiy Golovkin, Miguel Cotto, and Dmitry Bivol.
Benavidez is nowhere near that neighborhood. Instead of securing defining legacy bouts, he is lining up voluntary defenses against Michal Cieslak at 200 pounds. While Cieslak is a capable European contender, nobody outside of hard-core circles is paying to see that fight. It does nothing to elevate Benavidez to the pantheon of Mexican greats.
If Benavidez genuinely wanted to close the gap on Canelo, he needed to make real waves. Taking out Gilberto Ramirez was a solid win, but sitting on belts and scheduling low-demand opponents like Cieslak keeps him in neutral. Fighting fringe contenders at cruiserweight only proves that while he talks about chasing history, his matchmaking still trails far behind the standard Canelo set.

Adrien Broner Evaluates Floyd Mayweathers Odds Against Ryan Garcia at 49

Rumours of a left-field bout between WBC welterweight world champion Ryan Garcia and boxing icon Floyd Mayweather surfaced earlier this month.
Garcia has publicly addressed the talkconfirming that an offer is on the table but setting strict conditions for his participation.
Taking to social media, the 28-year-old active champion outright rejected the idea of an exhibition match, stating that he will only accept a licensed professional contest that puts Mayweather’s legendary 50-0 undefeated record at risk.
In his comments on X, Garcia claimed that Mayweather was the one who initiated contact, stating:
“I’m ready Floyd, remember you made this call. I’m just returning the favor. Offer is on the table … Let’s see how much you love that ‘0’… And no I wouldn’t do an exhibition I want his 0 on the f—ing line”.
Mayweather has not fought in a sanctioned professional bout since his 2017 victory over Conor McGregor, competing exclusively in exhibitions since that time. A scheduled professional return in a rematch against Manny Pacquiao was postponed due to legal issues on the American’s side.
Despite all of the above, four-weight champion Adrien Broner recently told Garcia to his face that Mayweather beats him.
“Floyd [wins]. Floyd gonna smoke bruh.”
Garcia was then animated about the potential fight, saying:
“I’ll knock out Floyd. If I get him hurt, it’s over. I’m not letting him go. I’ve seen him, he’s a small man. I don’t give a f**k what his name is, I don’t believe in acronyms. You know what? F**k him.”
Most fans will remain unconvinced that the fight happens, and be content with that given Mayweather’s age and inactivity.
Garcia – who recently defended his belt with a blistering second round stoppage over Conor Benn – instead seems poised to face Teofimo Lopez in a welterweight unification bout, that is if Lopez’s appeal to the WBA to bypass mandatory challenger Jack Catterall is successful.

Emanuel Navarrete vs OShaquie Foster: October 24-25 Boxing Schedule and Previews

BLH will have live results and updates
From Sheffield, England, for Smith’s WBC super lightweight title. Smith won that title his last time in action, knocking out Subriel Matias in the 5th round of their January tilt. Matias won the belt in his previous fight against Puello, a majority decision result in July of 2025.
Will Smith be the first to successfully defend this belt since Regis Prograis in the summer of 2023? Or will Puello emerge triumphant, reclaiming the title and continuing the WBC 140 lbs. White Elephant belt exchange game? It’s a good matchup, and I’m eager to find out!
ON THE UNDERCARD: Maxi Hughes fights for a lesser WBC lightweight doodad against Giorgio Visiolirecently announced as Nominative Determinism Magazine’s 2026: “Most Likely Boxer to Spend His Free Time Seducing American Tourists on an Eat Pray Love Adventure in Venice.” The honor comes with a free Vespa and a lifetime supply of candles in Chianti bottles. Tough break for Guido Vianello, who’d held that title for as far back as I can remember. Also on the undercard, Shannon Ryan defends the British and Commonwealth super flyweight belts against Emma Dolan. Additional prelims stream available on DAZN starting at 12:00 pm ET.
Emanuel Navarrete vs O’Shaquie Foster (DAZN, 9:00 p.m. ET)
BLH will have live results and updates
From San Antonio, Texas, to unify Navarrete’s WBO and IBF and Foster’s WBC super featherweight titles. Fantastic fight here, with the unconventional and powerful Navarrete and the quick, shrewd, Foster providing the sort of stylistic debate I change my mind on every time I try to predict a winner.
Navarrete is a crowd pleaser, with a fighting style that produces knockouts far more often than not, but seldom without putting himself in serious jeopardy. His only official loss in 14 years, with a brief aside to acknowledge some referee and judging controversy along the way, came by split decision to Denys Berinchyk in Navarrete’s only pro tilt as a lightweight. That fight featured lots of joking references on commentary to Twinkie consumption, after which Navarrete found the discipline to get and stay back down at 130 lbs., where he’s now a unified champion.
Foster is a savvy, strategic guy who will always find his edge whether he’s slugging with the likes of Rocky Hernandez (and knocking him out) or outworking a former P4P guy like Stephen Foster. This is one of the five best unification fights available in boxing right now (for anyone wondering, I put it up there with Opetaia-Benavidez, even though that’s more of a half-unification, Benavidez-Bivol, another semi-unification in Ennis-Ortiz, and Lopez-Garcia). Definitely worth your time and attention.
ON THE UNDERCARD: Chief support here is Albert “Chop Chop” Gonzalez against Edward Vazquez. Gonzalez is 24 years old, 18-0 (11 KO), and he will absolutely have to earn his way past Vazquez, who is my favorite working class fighter in boxing today. The only fight I’m sure I’ve ever seen Vazquez lose was his knockout to Rafael Espinoza, and I’d put him 1-0-1 at worst against Ray Ford and Joe Cordina, even though the official results have him 0-2 there. Vazquez has one of the keenest tactical minds in the sport, and Gonzalez will need to prove he’s world class to get past him. Also, Steven Navarro vs Emanuel Moreno at bantamweight.
DAZN, 1:00 pm ET Top Tier Boxing
From London, England. DAZN are spotlighting the women’s lightweight matchup between Shauna Browne and Jade Burden as the main event. But, that feels disrespectful to not one, but TWO vacant junior varsity IBO title fights! Archie Sharp vs Ross Driscoll will decide the owner of the Continental lightweight belt, while Tiago Muxanga and Muzamiru Kakande will square off for the European super welterweight title. Why are a guy from Mozambique (Muxanga) and a guy from Uganda (Kakande) fighting for the European belt? Don’t ask me! I’m not the computer that does the IBO’s rankings!
