Moses Itauma (12-0, 10 KO) crushed the game, but restricted Mike Balogun (21-2, 16 KO), rejecting it in the second round of the 10-round weight weight on Saturday evening at SEZ Hydro, Glasgow, Scotland.
Balogun surprisingly fought aggressively, spending the perspective of the 254-pound Itauma during a tiny twentieth fight. This excessively aggressive approach caused the Balogun to be dropped in the first round with the left hand of the cuff.
Balogue bold aggression
At the beginning of the second round, Balogun came out of the gate, Bum threw itauma and immediately dropped with a perfectly placed right hook to his head. Ituma landed at the bottom, showing speed and precise placement. Balogun collapsed as if he were shot by a ball. He stopped for counting nine, then rose to his feet and looked unverified.
Despite the fact that he was dropped twice, Balogun did not prove to be fear and attacked Itauma, as if he had him where he wanted. The appearance of Ituma was concerned because he knew that this guy was determined to win, and had more than sufficient power to cause nervousness if he was allowed to spin.
Balogun accused Itauma, wanting to catch him with a massive shot, but he entered the next right hook, which dropped him flat on his back to get a third knocking. This time the judge, John Latham, stopped the fight. Balogun looked surprised when he got up, but Latham saw enough. The time of detention was at 0:46 in the second round.

Josh Taylor lost for the third time in his career and has a great decision to make after losing to Ekow Essuman.
Taylor fought in his first performance at the welterweight limit after defeat with Jacek Cattell at 140 pounds.
Essuman gave the Scot everything he could do in Hydro and received a response to every tactic that Joe McNally tried to convey.
However, this was not Essuman, because Taylor had an advantage over the first five rounds. The Scot showed the flashes of his elderly self and Essumana hurt from time to time.
But the second half was all of Essuaman, and the Londonian probably won each of the last six.
Taylor, was the undisputed super lightweight champion, was stunned by the decision of the judges. The truth is that he did it far to nod. All three gave Essuman unanimously judgment 116-113, 116-112 and 115-113.
Karma returned to Taylor after his shocking win, which was never over Jacek Cattell in the same place.
After the fight, Essuman told Dazn: “Respect for Josh Taylor. I have always respected him since the GB team.
“I went to the lion. I remembered things from the time when in the GB team. Now I want the world championship title.
“I beat the undisputed master, and then I want the title of world champion. I did what I had to.”
Compubox Stats agreed with his decision.
“It was the story of two halves. Josh Taylor had a quick start and built an advantage, but Ekow Essuman was sturdy in the second half.
“Essuman landed 140 of 363, 22% in total blows, and Taylor landed 125 of 493, 25%. Finally, Taylor maintained an advantage of 117-115 in the blows, but many of them were done early.”

Carl Frampton believes that Josh Taylor will decide not to fight again after losing to Ekow Essuman in a nervous 12-round unanimous loss on Saturday evening at SEZ Hydro, Glasgow, Scotland. It was the third defeat of Taylor in a row and it was a fight he was supposed to win. The results were 116-112, 116-113 and 115-113.
Essuman (22-1, 8 KO) is far from the elite or even warrior at level A, but it was too well conditioned for the 34-year-old Taylor’s Titedring (19-3, 12 KO). The losing to this level of the warrior was a bitter pill for the former undisputed welterweight champion, Taylor. He looked depressed when the results were announced because he knew what the results meant his career.
Frampton doubts Taylor’s return
“I don’t think so. This guy was the elite of the elite and he was a star. It is obvious that he is not a warrior he once was,” said Carl Frampton Boxing DAZN Asked if Josh Taylor could ever fight again after losing to Ekow Essuman on Saturday evening in Glasgow.
The problem is that Taylor has lost a lot from the game. It is more a coincidence that it is never overrated to start with. If you look at his best winnings, he did not defeat outstanding fighters in 2017–2022. Taylor’s best wins were against these fighters in this five -year period:
– Jack Cattell
– King of program
– Jose Ramirez
– Ivan Baranchik
– Viktor Postol
– Miguel Vazquez
“It depends on his dreams and ambitions. I think it was a world champion in two importance. But in such a performance I don’t think it is possible.”
The only chance of Taylor that he will become the world champion in two validity is that he will get the title shot against the winner of the clash between the WBC WBC Master Mario Barrios and Manny Pacquiao. This does not seem to happen after Josh’s loss with Essuman. In order for Taylor to win the title, he must come back and defeat someone good.
The Taylor engine works empty
“He had it for the first few rounds and that’s all,” said commentator Ade Oladipo about the fact that Taylor looks good in the first two or three rounds against Ekow, and then quickly disappears. “He looked piercing, he looked really good. The fact that Southpaw left, landed, and then the engine seemed empty very, very quickly,” said Ade about Josh.
In previous fights, Taylor did not show problems with his endurance. However, he was out of the ring for a year from his defeat with Jacek Cattell in May 2024 and he fought only four times since 2021. For a long time, it could be included in Taylor Gassing for a long time. It’s his fault. If Josh remained energetic, fighting three times a year from 2021, he probably wouldn’t have this problem.
“It was like a 2-liter engine against 1.6,” said Darren Barker, talking about Essuman, who has more energy than tired Taylor. “It was an engine that began to disappear. It was a good start to Taylor.”
It is strange that Essuman looked slowly, as if he did not spend any energy with the pace he fought for. However, he simply attacked Taylor, from time to time landing great shots, and it wore him. Taylor did not like to be hit by Essuman hefty shots.
“He was in a good groove, showing a real fire and such a will to win that we are used to Taylor. But as this fight progresses this man [Essuman]I wouldn’t say he was overwhelmed, but he released Taylor. Three or four shots for each of the Taylor – said Barker.
Ekow landed heavier arrows and landed in his body when Taylor fought closely, trying to stay.

The former world title Josh Taylor returned to the ring in his family Scotland on Saturday to stop the bleeding of his career caused by a series of losing by two fights. 19-3 Taylor’s opponent was 21-1 Ekow Essuman this weekend. Although Essuman was a weaker romance entering the planned twelve, the Englishman was traveling in the winning series of two fights. Undoubtedly, he also knew that the fight against Joshua was a chance for life to prove that he belonged to a conversation of grave welterweight.
The designated Taylor looked great early during the first two rounds. His razor’s piercing and quick stab Southpaw was generally unexplored by Essuman. What’s more, Taylor worked well on the body. However, in the third Essuman he began to confirm with his own aggression. The fourth saw Taylor Rock Essuman, but Essusman replied, throwing his man. It became a close battle. Until the fifth, both men changed the action. Essuman landed well and with some regular in the first part of the sixth part. He still looked good for the rest of the round.
Taylor began to move around the ring in seventh place. Did he run out of gas? Essuman was a more lively warrior throughout the eighth. Taylor certainly fought well, but Essuman had better arrows and a better round. The ninth was an electrifying matter that Taylor could be trimmed. Tenth was also a good round for Taylor. However, Essuman was very fighting. Indeed, Essuman had powerful energy for himself. In the twelfth and last round of each warrior, he grinds himself in the hope of the opponent’s outskirts. Each man deserved recognition for granting her whole … But it was Essuman who was awarded the unanimous victorious decision by the judges after completing the final bell.
“It’s an amazing boxer,” said Essuman about Taylor after a fight. “Thank you very much for having me,” he said to journalists and a Scottish crowd. “He is nice, nice and talented.
