George Foreman: 1949-2025

By: Sean Crose

One of the greatest weighty weight of all time died. George Foreman, who became as known as his grills as his stunning second career in boxing, was one of a kind. “Our hearts are broken,” said Foreman’s estate in a statement in social media on Friday evening. “With deep sadness we announce the departure of our beloved George Edward Foreman Sr., who calmly left on March 21, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. A pious preacher, devoted husband, loving father and proud and great -grandfather, lived with life marked by different faith, humility and cell.”

He is not a hyperbola to claim that Foreman led an extraordinary life, moving from heel to one of the most believing characters of pop culture in America and leaving an indelible mark in boxing sports. “Humanitarian, Olympian and two -time heavyweight master of the world”, he continued the statement – “he was deeply respected – strength for the good, man of discipline, beliefs and as a defender of his heritage, tirelessly to keep his good name – for his family.”

After winning the gold medal at the 1968 Olympic Games, Foreman became one of the most cruel strokes in the heavyweight division. In 1973, he was ready to become a heavyweight champion from Houston, which he achieved, repeatedly abandoning the defending master Joe Frazier six times in two rounds before the fight. However, less than three years later the situation changed to worse for Foreman, because former world champion Muhammad Ali stunned the world, throwing Foreman and taking his crown in Zaire.

Surprisingly, Foreman regained the championship in weighty weight – full twenty years after he lost him from Ali. Foreman’s return probably began when he had a deep religious experience, which permanently changed his life. Becoming a ordained minister, Foreman returned to boxing in 1987 to earn money for his parish. It was then seen by many as a joke. At that moment Foreman was fat and bald, looking completely different than the intimidating giant he was once. Foreman recently laughed when in 1994 he knocked out the defense of IBF heavyweight titles and WBA Michael Moore, full two decades after losing the championship with Ali.

Foreman continued the fight until 1997. At that time, he was seen more as a ubiquitous spokesman for a celebrity and a grill than a warrior. Indeed, the money earned from George Foreman Grills reportedly made him the richest athlete in the world – even exceeding the NBA and King Sneaker Michael Jordan. After his death, George Foremeen left the world of boxing with a dazzling, positive narrative that would never happen again. “We are grateful for pouring love prayers and we kindly ask for privacy because we worship the extraordinary life of a man to call our own,” said Foreman’s estate.

Rest in peace, Large George.

Lewkowik: Bivol will not fight Benavidez, so he should leave the title, a Mexican monster to fight for the full title of WBC in September

Image: Benavidez Open to Undercard Role on Bivol-Beterbiev 3, But for the Right Price

Promoter Sampson Lewkowicz says that David Benavidez will fight for the full title of WBC Lightweight Heavyweight in September, probably against Callum Smith, after releasing the belt or deprived of the current master Dmitri Bivol.

Give up!

Lewkowcz stated that he wanted Bivol to restore the title of WBC and give it back on Monday because he does not intend to defend him against Benavidez. This will not be threatened when Bivol faces Artur Beterbav in the trilogy match.

WBC has already ordered Bivol to start negotiations with the mandatory Benavidez (30-0, 24 KO) and have until April 8 to connect the contract before the offer of the handbag. However, Lewkowcz does not see it because of the Bivol-Betiview trilogy match, which is located at the planning stages.

There is no chance The fact that Bivol risks the fight of “Mexican Monster” Benavidez because he probably lost and would be non -flashed in a trilogy match with Artur Beterbal. The fight would still be interested in fans, but much less because of Bivol took a loss with Benavidez and did not hold the titles.

Risk factor

If Benavidez were an straightforward sign, Bivol would fight him in a second, because it is a fight that would cause much more interest in fans around the world than a tired trilogy match. But Dmitry and his management know that Benavidez is irate for them and quickly solves his impact style. This approach worked on 40-year-old Artur Beterbalwal because he is elderly and snail-paced. This would not be effective against Benavidez, who is juvenile at the age of 28, cut off the ring quickly and well.

“He won’t fight [in a title defense of his interim belt]. It will have to be a full WBC title. If Bivol does not fight, I recommended that he give up [vacate] Title before April 8, “said Sampson Lewkowicz Fight Hub tv About his insistence that the WBC Lightweight Heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol defended against his mandatory David Benavidez, and then left the belt.

It is not clear why the Bivol promotional team pulls him out because Benavidez will not change the opinion that he wants to have the title shot in WBC. If they think that they change their minds, they are joking because it won’t happen. Bivol may as well leave the belt now so that they can start promoting the trilogy with Beterbiev based on the fact that this is not the undisputed lightweight championship.

“It won’t happen,” said Sampson about the fight between Bivol and Benavidez. “If he [Bivol] I don’t want to fight on Monday, restore the belt. A guy who brings money to this place [the Saudis]I don’t want it [Bivol-Benavidez]”Said Lewkowicz.

It will not be the end of the world, so that Bivol can go to the trilogy match with Beterbawał with three lanes, not four. The fight will continue to have a value for fans who like to watch how two aging 175-pounds fight in the next chess match.

Boxing fans are tired seeing Bivol and Beterbaiew, because none of their two fights were entertaining. According to American standards, their fights were tedious. People from outside the country may like tactical fights that look like amateur competitions, but fans do not like this style.

Smith next?

“It can be [Callum] Blacksmith [that Benavidez fights next]But there are many others. He will fight for a full title in September – said Lewkowcz. “If he [Bivol] He wants to go to a handbag offer, we are well prepared for PBC. America wants his own blood to fight [for a light heavyweight title]And the blood is David Benavidez. This is the best fight.

“We’ve seen twice in the same fight [Bivol vs. Artur Beterbiev]. Less than 50,000 people saw this fight [on DAZN PPV in their rematch on February 22nd]. This is a good fight for us [hardcore fans] This love box, but they don’t care for ordinary people. I would never reach Saudi Arabia because I love this screams. “

The champion IBF Bakhram Murtazaliev challenges Sebastian Fund is a union

Image: Negotiating Bakhram Murtazaliev vs. Vergil Ortiz Jr.: IBF Title Fight Hinges on Financial Agreement

Bakhram Murtazaliev, IBF junior champion, called WBC and WBO champion 154-LB, Sebastian Fundor for the Unification Fight after his technical victory in the fourth round over Chordale Booker on Saturday evening in Las Vegas.

Murtzaliev (23-0, 17 KO) published on X, congratulating “The Goring Inferno” Fund (22-1-1, 14 KO) for winning the Booker (23-2, 11 KO), saying: “I’m ready!“It would be a great fight for fans if Sebastian was ready to take this risky fight.

Unquestionable goal

At a press conference after the fight last night he said that his goal was to become the undisputed champion at the age of 154 Using empty words To sound brave, taking Bakhram from his offer would be great for fans.

It is unlikely that the fund and his promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz, agree to fight Murtazaliev because he is hazardous, and not someone with whom he could stand and fights, as in the case of a featherlight bookmaker last night.

In this way, the fight against Murtazaliev will quickly eliminate the fund, perhaps in less than three rounds. It took Bakhram so long to get rid of the former WBO champion 154-LB Tim Tarest on October 19 in Orlando, Florida. Tsyzyu tried to arrange himself with Murtazaliev and was dropped four times in the third round of losing.

The fund would have to change its fighting style to have a chance to defeat Bakhram. He will not win by fighting him in the trenches, using the same approach that worked for him against Booker and Tisz.

Zayas or Murtazaliev?

Murtazaliev would be a good option for the fund if he wants to shorten his pretender to WBO, Xander Zayas. May go by unification; There is no way that WBO can undress him. However, I do not know why the fund would avoid a feeble impact, such as Zayas, which is at the Booker Power level, but with more silky, in favor of a risky fight with Bakhram. This movement would not make sense.

The fund said last week that he was interested in renewing conversations about the fight against Errol Spence if he still wants to fight him. This is a much more fight for money than defense against the little-known 22-year-old Xander.
