World boxing reacts because the IOC recommends boxing for La 2028

The world boxing was satisfied with the decision of the Executive Council (EB) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to propose to include boxing in the Sports Program of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028 (LA28), to the 144th session of the IOC, which will take place at Costa Navarino, Greece, this week (19-21 March 2025).

Provided that the voices of the IOC session approved the EB proposal, when he met this week, boxing will be restored to the competition program for LA28.

The president of the World Boxing, Boris van der Vorst, said: “This is a very essential and essential decision for Olympic boxing and attracts sport one step to restoring to the Olympic program.

“I have no doubt that they will be very positively received by everyone related to boxing, at every level around the world who understand the key importance for the future of boxing sport, which still remains part of the Olympic movement.

“On behalf of everyone in World Boxing, I would like to thank the EB ICK for the trust they put in our organization, and we hope for a positive result when the IOC session meets this week.

“World Boxing understands that being part of the Olympic Games is a privilege, not a law and I assure the IOC that if the box is restored to the La28 program, then world boxing is completely involved in being a trustworthy and a reliable partner that will follow and maintain the values ​​of the Olympic card.”

World boxing was released in April 2023 with a mission ensuring that boxing will remain at the Olympic Movement Center.

Organized the first formal meeting with the IOC in May 2024 and on February 26, 2025. It was awarded by the IOC ephemeral recognition for the International Federation (IF) in the Olympic movement ruling boxing sport at the world level.
