Mike Tyson: I would prefer to fight Oleksandr Usyk
Published
1 hour agoon
Mike Tyson talked about what a fight between him and two-time undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk would look like.
Tyson became the youngest heavyweight champion in history at the age of 20, and Usyk moved up from cruiserweight to defeat some of the best fighters of the decade.
After the Ukrainian moved to heavyweight, many wondered where he belonged among the great fighters.
Usyk has defeated Tyson Fury twice, Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois.
He is also scheduled to take part in a historic competition against kickboxing great Rico Verhoeven, to name a few the lasting legacy it leaves behind.
Tyson talked Ring Magazine and said that he would love to share the ring with the Ukrainian.
“I would absolutely agree to fight Usyk.
“But Usyk is quite busy for a contemporary heavyweight.”
“Iron Mike” continued, comparing the activity of heavyweights today to when he was an busy champion.

“We are different fighters. Fighters of this era should see this. We were more busy than them.
“In my day, we defended our titles four times a year. Now these guys defend their titles once every two years.”
Usyk’s fight with Verhoeven will be his fourth in 24 months.

Another name that Tyson brought up that would pose a great challenge to the current world champion is Evander Holyfield.
“Holyfield would give him a great fight. It’s a different era.
“You have to kill these guys to beat them. It’s tough to beat these guys without getting a scratch on your face.”
Tyson shared the ring with Holyfield twice. He was stopped in the 11th round of their first meeting and notoriously disqualified in a rematch for biting his opponent’s ear.

Even though Usyk, now 39, is entering the final phase of his career, he listed three fights he wants before the fight ended.
He spoke to Inside The Ring.
The first of them was, of course, Rico Verhoeven, trained by Peter Fury.

He then sees himself fighting the winner of Fabio Wardley and Daniel Dubois, who will fight for Wardley’s WBA crown on May 9.
And finally, Usyk wants a monumental trilogy with Tyson Fury after already defeating him twice.
“Rico [Verhoeven]this is the first. Secondly, either Wardley or Dubois will win, and the third fight will be my friend “Greedy Belly”, Tyson Fury.

Three-time world champion Duke McKenzie has commented on Tyson Fury’s upcoming return in April.
McKenzie said Fury needed a break at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
His opponent will be Arslanbek Makhmudov, a former product of Russian amateur boxing.
After turning professional in 2017, “The Lion” put together an impressive 18-fight win streak during the session before getting his chance to fight WBC interim champion Agit Kabayel.
Makhmudov was the favorite but was outclassed in the evening before being stopped in sixth place.
McKenzie talked TalkSports about fighting.
“If Fury can’t take it from there and look good doing it, then there’s no point in fighting for the world title.
“A lot will depend on what he has left, because no one will know until the bell rings. A perfect test.”
In October, Makhmudov won a major victory in Great Britain.

He headlined in Sheffield against fan favorite Dave Allen.
The Russian was the better on the night, leading the way to a unanimous points victory.
Fury recently spoke to Gareth A Davies from his training camp in Thailand.
“If I can get back to what I did in my last fights in 2024, then yes, I will definitely be able to beat all these guys. I’m not that far away.”

“The Gypsy King” is the so-called two-time world heavyweight champion and clearly aims to win a third world title.
One of the fights Fury has shown interest in is a fight with WBA world heavyweight champion Fabio Wardley.
Wardley became champion after defeating Fury’s friend Joseph Parker, whom he stopped in the 11th round.
Fury revealed the motivations behind his return to the sport.

“I love this fighting game,” he went on to say Instagram.
“It’s not for financial gain. I could have retired 10 years ago.
“I’ve made an absolute fortune. It’s not about the money, although I always want to have a good deal.

“It’s mostly about the love of fighting games and sports.”
Another name that could be a possibility in the future is Oleksandr Usyk, who he has already fought twice.
He recently talked to “Kot”. Inside the Ring and revealed his plans for the last three fights of his career.
“Rico [Verhoeven]this is the first. Secondly, either Wardley or Dubois will win, and the third fight will be my friend “Greedy Belly”, Tyson Fury.

The promoter wants Chisora-Wilder to be at stake for the world title

With Derek Chisora and Deontay Wilder set to share the ring in both of their 50th fights respectively, Kalle Sauerland has called for a world title to be on the line.
Wilder once ruled the heavyweight division for many years, and Chisora fought for the title numerous times.
The fight between “Del Boy” and “The Bronze Bomber” is something of a turning point in both fighters’ careers.
Chisora stated this though He will end his sports career on April 4.
However, in Wilder’s case, his eyes are set on the final path to becoming world champion.
Promoter Kalle Sauerland called for the title to be on the line in this fight. He talked to Sky Sports Boxing.
“Given Chisora’s current position at the very top of the heavyweight rankings, as well as Wilder’s position, and the high-profile nature of this fight, the opportunity to fight for the belt would be an incredible addition for them.”

He actually called up two-time world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, who he believes holds the belt.
“The Cat” is set to return to the ring against former kickboxing world champion Rico Verhoeven.
Interestingly, the fight will take place in the Pyramids of Giza, and the title of WBC Ukrainian world champion will be at stake.
Sauerland demanded to have the IBF belt.

“Oleksandr Usyk did not have a single IBF mandatory defense during his tenure as IBF heavyweight champion.
“This is boxing policy. We will talk to the IBF to see if there is anything that can resolve the situation and we will lobby for such a move.”
Usyk regained his IBF world title just a year ago in July when he stopped Daniel Dubois for a second time.

Sauerland, who held the belt for just seven months, may find it complex to force him to vacate the belt or step aside.
A fight with Usyk for the winner may be possible, but an immediate world title fight in April seems unlikely.

“The Script” – Terence Crawford’s controversial take on the Jake Paul fight

March 13, 2026
Undisputed three-weight world champion Terence Crawford accused Jake Paul of writing a script for his fight with Mike Tyson.
Crawford summarized the Paul-Tyson fight.
“The Problem Child” fought Tyson in 2024 at AT&T Stadium in Texas.
The event aired live on Netflix during the historic night.
“Bud” recently appeared in The Joe Rogan experience and discussed the fight, claiming the former world heavyweight champion was forced to hold back.
“I think so [Paul vs Tyson] was written. I never saw Tyson bite his gloves and he had to do everything in his power not to hit him.
“It’s painful to see an icon continue in this condition.”
Tyson once ruled the heavyweight division. At the age of 20, he became the youngest heavyweight champion in history, defeating Trevor Berbick in the second round.
“Iron Mike” went down in history as one of the most recognizable and at the same time threatening players in the history of the sport.
His return at the age of 59 came as a shock to many, especially after the first fight with Paul was postponed due to “life-threatening” health complications Tyson experienced in the months before the fight.
Crawford continued and discussed the financial side of the competition.

“He shouldn’t have been there at all. There are other ways [to make money]”
There are rumors that Tyson pocketed a hefty sum of $20,000,000 and Paul received double the amount of $40,000,000, according to Sports News.
Crawford recently retired with an astonishing record of 42 fights and 42 wins, 31 of which came after a stoppage.

“Bud” ended his career with the best possible fight of his career against Canelo Alvarez. The event was also streamed live on Netflix.
He dominated throughout the 12-round fight, despite moving up two weight classes, to become the undisputed world champion in five weight classes and the undisputed world champion in three weight classes.
Crawford talked about a potential fight with Paul himself when he appeared on the show Club Shay Shay Podcast already in April last year. He initially ended the fight with Paul.

“No, (I wouldn’t fight Jake Paul). Yes, Jake is gigantic, but he does his thing, let Jake do what Jake does.”
Crawford jokingly changed his mind when he heard what the stakes might be for fighting Paul.
“I’m fighting Jake Paul. I’m gonna fight Jake Paul, come on Jake. Hey, Logan (Paul) I gotta fight your brother, man.”
