J. HumzaBefore sold out Arena in ManchesterTommy Fury was frustrated and egged on by KSI during the six-round cruiserweight fight, but still managed to score a miniature number of points on top of the Misfits bill.
KSI (5-1-1, KO4) landed a sweeping right hand on the first throw and was elated to rush in and smother Fury’s work. Fury (10-0, KO4) lost a point in the second quarter for repeated blows to the back of the head and had difficulty immobilizing his opponent, and in the third quarter the action was more lively. It was a clinch fest with Fury trying to let go but getting choked out by KSI, and as the fight got to the final round there was a chance to get it. Fury was able to land a few shots as KSI tired, but the war of attrition was decided by the scorecards.
One of the judges ruled the score 57-57, while the other two judges scored it 57-56 in Fury’s favor. A rematch will be more than likely.

Danis had a strange approach and in the last round he resorted to grabbing Paul’s legs and then tried to guillotine Paul, which caused security to storm the ring and Paul was awarded the victory and Danis was disqualified.

O’Shaquie Foster won the vacant WBC super featherweight title in some style, ending Rey Vargas’ long undefeated streak with a decisive victory at the Alamodome in Texas.
Vargas previously reigned as the WBC super bantamweight and featherweight champion and was undefeated in 36 fights leading up to this fight, while Foster was on a nine-fight win streak after two early career losses.
Foster (20-2, KO11) unexpectedly dominated the fight, while Vargas (36-1, KO22) paid off with a leisurely start to the fight. Foster countered with a solid hook, and in the third round Vargas was cut off in what looked like a clash of heads. Foster’s quicker footwork was winning, Vargas was unable to gain a foothold, and by halftime it looked like the American had probably won every round. The Mexican had his best round so far in the seventh set, landing on his opponent’s body, but Foster quickly regained control. Although Vargas finished a respectable ninth, Foster closed out the championship rounds decisively, and when the fight was on the cards, the outcome was in no doubt.

On Saturday at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, Mauricio Lara became the WBA featherweight world champion by defeating Leigh Wood in the seventh round.
Wood (26-3, 16 KO) was on cruise control for the first six rounds before Lara (26-2-1, 19 KO) landed a huge left hand that knocked him to the canvas and he was dragged out of the corner. after getting back on my feet.
Wood won the belt in July 2021 by defeating Xu Can in the last round, and then repeated the trick in his first defense against Michael Conlan. The guy rose to fame after stopping Josh Warrington in 2021 and was considered a formidable player.
After a technical first round in which the home favorite was decapitated by a clash of heads, the champion came alive in the second round but was caught by a large right hand from Lara tardy in the frame that rocked him.
Wood produced a fluid and precise third and landed several eye-catching right hands in the fourth.
The 34-year-old landed a successful body shot that caught Lara’s attention on the fifth throw, and “Bronco” began to lose strength, with Wood regularly punching first.
Almost out of nowhere, the pair landed simultaneously and Lara’s left hand landed squarely on the money, dropping the champion strenuous.
This left him on unsteady feet, and when the fight was about to resume, Wood’s trainer Ben Davison he threw in the towel to signal the end of the competition.
Wood has a rematch clause and confirmed that he wants to repeat it with the 24-year-old.
Smith defeats Flores to retain the British title
Dalton Smith defended his British Super Lightweight title for a second time, enjoying a crushing points victory over former English and Southern Area champion Billy Allington.
Allington (10-2-4) trailed in the eighth to his left hand, and Smith (14-0, 10 KO) ultimately won by two scores of 119-108 and the third by a score of 120-107. despite a cut above his left eye.
The Thunder will meet Commonwealth champion Sam Maxwell on April 29 in Sheffield.
Cully blows Flores away
Gary Cully further strengthened his credentials by winning the vacant WBA Intercontinental lightweight title with a devastating second-round stoppage of Wilfredo Flores.
In the second half, the Irishman knocked down the American with his left hand, and after the restart, Cully (16-0, 10 KO) went at it and after another attack, the end came quickly.
Following her victory over Flores (10-1-1, 5 KO), “The Diva” now occupies a spot in the large ticket for the Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano rematch on May 20.
Clarke decides on Duffus
Cheavon Clarke won ten rounds for the first time in his career, defeating Israel Duffus at the distance in the cruiserweight division.
Clarke (5-4, 4 KO) hurt Duffus (20-9, 17 KO) tardy in the fifth quarter and had two knockdowns a round later as the visitors began to fade.

The Panamanian native lost again with a right hand in the seventh period, and then again with a perfectly placed right hand tardy in the final frame as the fight went in favor.
Two scores of 98-88 and the third 98-90 confirmed Clarke’s dominant win.
Ruiz annoys Yafai
Gamal Yafai was sluggish and Diego Alberto Ruiz took full advantage, scoring three knockdowns in a points victory out of ten in the super bantamweight division.
Yafai (19-3, 11 KO) landed a left hand in the second round and went down again in the third, landing a right hand as Ruiz (24-6-1, 12 KO) took over.
The initial deficit was too great for the Briton to overcome, and the visitor scored another knockdown in the tenth and final round with a compact left hook and eventually overtook the winner by scores of 98-89, 97-91 and 97-90.
Undercard remaining
Kieron Conway (19-3-1, 4 KO) returned to winning ways after his September defeat to Ammo Williams, winning all eight rounds against Jorge Silva (21-8, 12 KO) in a super middleweight fight.
The next winner was Sam Maxwell (17-1, 11 KO), and the super lightweight won all six rounds against Shaun Cooper (13-5), which set him up for a meeting with Dalton Smith.
Aaron Bowen (1-0, 1 KO) was thrilled to make his debut as the Commonwealth Games bronze medalist stopped Matieu Gomes (5-5, 5 KO) mid-round with a stunning body shot in their super middleweight fight.
Junaid Bostan (5-0, 5 KO) impressed by defeating Peter Kramer (12-8-3, 8 KO) in the seventh of eight scheduled super welterweight fights.
O’Hara Davies won a crossroads fight at the Newcastle Arena, defeating Lewis Ritson in the ninth round of their WBA super lightweight title eliminator.
Davies (25-2, KO18) comes into this fight on the back of six straight wins, while Ritson (23-2, KO13) has won twice since a tenth-round stoppage in June 2021 at the hands of Jeremias Ponce.
It was a tight start and both players gave their all early on, with Davies being the better in action. It took Ritson around the fifth round to get going when he landed several tough left hooks, but a round later Davies took complete control, hurting Ritson in the body. Ritson was injured again in round seven and more body work in round eight put the fight back towards the Londoner, with the end soon to come. Davies’ wicked left hook left Ritson writhing in agony and he was unable to take down the count, securing the victory for ‘Two Tanks’.
