Keith Thurman tells critics to stop questioning him ahead of Sebastian Fundora’s title fight

“Stop asking these questions,” Thurman told Premier Boxing Champions. “Stop questioning me about who I am and what I can do.”

For much of the delayed 2010s, Thurman was viewed as one of the top contenders in the welterweight division after victories over Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter helped him unify the titles. Injuries and long breaks slowed down this momentum, and his only defeat came in 2019 against Manny Pacquiao.

Injuries and long layoffs have slowed his career, leaving some fans wondering how much longer he has left. Thurman feels that the narrative ignores what he has already accomplished.

“They could still put me in the Hall of Fame as it stands,” he said. “But something in my heart, something in my stomach, something in my soul says this story is not over,” Thurman said.

The upcoming fight against WBC junior middleweight champion Fundora gives Thurman a chance to win a second division title and change the perception that has followed him later in his career.

Thurman acknowledged that the lack of activity raises concerns about boxing, but insists that the criticism has gone too far.

“I fought twice in five years,” Thurman said. “Every time they looked at me, all they saw was a question mark. Will he make it to the finish line? Will he break down? Is he at this point in his career?”

Thurman believes the answer will come when he returns to the ring against a distinguished champion.

“I know where I belong, compared to the best in the world,” he said. “I have a chance here and now to return to world champion status.”

The Fundora-Thurman fight is scheduled for March 28 and will be broadcast on Prime Video pay-per-view.

Thurman clearly understands the skepticism surrounding his return. Whether he can silence the fight against Fundora is a completely different question.

Hall of Famer Claims He Was Better Than Terence Crawford: ‘You Know It’

Hall of Famer says he was better than Terence Crawford: “You know that”

Terence Crawford is viewed by many as one of the best fighters in contemporary history, but one recent Hall of Famer ranks even higher than “Bud.”

Crawford retired from the sport in December after a historic victory over Canelo Alvarez three months before he became the undisputed super middleweight champion.

This was the third division to have “Bud” as its sole ruler, following his previous undisputed reigns at super lightweight and welterweight. It was at 147 pounds that his next iconic victory took place, defeating Errol Spence after the break.

Crawford finished his career with a perfect record of 42-0, and still became three-division world champion James Toney said FightHype that he believed he was better than his compatriot.

“He looked good, alright, but it wasn’t James Toney’s performance, you know that. Every time I fought on the gigantic stage, [Iran] Barkley, [Evander] Holyfield, John Ruiz and countless others – I dominate them.

Terence Crawford, I love Terence Crawford, but he didn’t even do what I did. He failed, but won 12 rounds. I caused damage, I stopped people, I knocked people out, that’s why they called me “Lights Out.”

Toney won middleweight, super middleweight and cruiserweight world titles, and at one point became world heavyweight champion, although this reign was vacated after he failed a drug test.

His final record is 77 wins from 92 fights, which will lead to his Hall of Fame induction in 2022, which will also be a formality for Crawford in the coming years.

Image: VIDEO: Moses Itauma vs Jermaine Franklin - PREDICTION

On March 28 at the Coop Live Arena in Manchester, undefeated heavyweight powerhouse Moses Itauma will face Jermaine Franklin in a heavyweight contest that will be available worldwide only on DAZN.

Download DAZN here

Itauma is one of the most threatening teenage heavyweights coming through the ranks. He has a lot of punching power, although his durability and ability to handle incoming force remain largely untested. Against Franklin, he will face a robust opponent who has never been stopped.

Franklin comes into the fight on the back of three straight wins. His record is 24-2 with 15 knockouts. His only defeats came in 12-round decisions to Dillian Whyte and former two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. Even in those losses, Franklin showed that he could box at a high level and absorb bulky shots.

Itauma’s undefeated record is 13-0 with 11 knockouts. His fights ended quickly. He boxed only 26 rounds in his career, averaging two rounds per fight. In his last fight, he faced Dillian Whyte, the same veteran who had previously defeated Franklin. Many expected Whyte’s experience to prolong the fight, but Itauma stepped in and finished the job in the opening round, stopping Whyte in less than two minutes.

The fight now comes down to a basic question: Can Franklin’s durability take Itauma into deeper rounds, or will the teenage heavyweight’s strength end the fights early again?

At this moment, Itauma’s power quickly solves any problem.

March 28 may reveal what he will look like if the fight doesn’t end sooner.

This release Rummy Corner will try to answer this question with a breakdown and preview of the upcoming showdown between Itauma and Franklin. Watch and enjoy the video to hear one man’s opinion. This is Rummy’s Corner (written, narrated and produced by Geoffrey Ciani).

Regis Prograis explains why he will be the second man to beat Conor Benn: ‘Don’t be surprised’

Regis Prograis explains why he will be the second man to beat Conor Benn: “Don’t be surprised”

Regis Prograis is set to hand Conor Benn a second defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on April 11.

Next month, Benn will fight in a 63,000-capacity venue for the third consecutive year. He first suffered a close defeat there against Chris Eubank Jr in April 2024, but seven months later he returned to convincingly defeat his rival in a rematch.

Both fights were held at the middleweight limit of 160 pounds, but Benn insisted that he would fight for world titles at welterweight – 147. On his way back to retirement, he will meet two-time super lightweight world champion Prograis at the 150-pound catchweight division.

I’m talking to Fighting Hub TVPrograis said he took the fight despite the weight disadvantage because he simply “knows” he is better than the Briton.

“I just feel like I’m better. That’s all. I know I’m better than Conor Benn. Look, if he didn’t have the name from his dad, who’s a legend, he wouldn’t be where he is now. I didn’t have a daddy who boxed. I was a world champion, already at the top twice, fighting in the mud. He had a lot of strength. I know I’m better skill-wise, and don’t be surprised if I’m stronger than him.”

When asked specifically about the fact that Benn – who is reportedly paid close to $15 million for the fight – goes down and goes up, Prograis believes he can match or even surpass the bigger fighter when it comes to raw power.

“Let him come in with that loaded sh*t. I have the power and like I said, don’t be surprised if I get stronger. Conor Benn fought on my undercard in 2019 when I fought Josh Taylor. I watch his videos. I know he likes to be with weights and shit like that. They think the weight carries over to the ring and maybe it does, but I know I have the power. Let’s see if he can hit the same shots with me… My coaches have gained confidence, I have confidence, I know it will be a really good evening.

“If he wants to come and leave it alone, we can do that. I’m okay with that too. Then we’ll have to see who’s more of a dog. And I’m not backing down.”

The fight headlines Tyson Fury’s heavyweight return against Arslanbek Makhmudov and will be streamed live on Netflix.
