Tyson Fury warns Joshua: “I’m not extending” the deadline

By Charles Brun: Tyson Fury says he won’t be extending today’s 5:00 p.m deadline until tomorrow or later for Anthony Joshua to sign for the December 3rd fight.

Fury’s public ultimatum suggests that he’s not excited about the thought of fighting Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs) next and is using this as an excuse to weasel out of it. If Fury really wanted the Joshua fight, he wouldn’t be setting up a deadline, which he knows that AJ has no chance of meeting.

It’s believed that Fury wants Manuel Charr. That’s the easy mark for Fury to take on December 3rd because he’s not going to get the living daylights beaten out of him like he will against Joshua.

Once Fury beats Charr, he’ll fight IBF/WBA/WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk in February or March in a 50-50 fight. Fury’s chances of beating Usyk are greatly increased if he’s not shell-shocked from a war against Joshua on December 3rd.

Hence, Fury is looking to squirm his way out of the AJ fight by setting up an arbitrary deadline. Yeah, it’s totally pathetic, but it shows Fury’s mindset for all to see.

He just wants to avoid getting the stuffing beaten out of him by Joshua because he wants the superficial accomplishment of becoming the undisputed champion by beating the much smaller Usyk.

“Guys, body builder [Anthony Joshua], today is the drop-dead date. Get your lawyers, get your managers and get everybody that thinks for you to sign that contract.

I’m not extending till Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, a week on Tuesday. Today is a drop-dead date. If it ain’t signed, I ain’t going to tomorrow.

“I just had Frank Warren on the phone. I’m not going until tomorrow. Sign it, b****h, sign it,” said Fury.

So there it is. Fury saying he won’t extend the deadline for Joshua to sign the contract. Of course, Fury isn’t extending the deadline for AJ because he clearly doesn’t want that fight because it’s bad news for him.

Really, Fury doesn’t want to be torn apart by Joshua and be one of the walking wounded heading into a battle against Usyk. To beat a fighter like Usyk, you’ve got to be sound of body & mind, and Fury will only be half there after a war with Joshua.

All that gimmickry that Fury uses in terms of leaning, grappling & throwing rabbit punches isn’t going to work against Joshua because he’s got the size to get the better of him in those areas.
