The WBA gold champion supports the blood donation campaign of the World Boxing Association

On Tuesday, May 7, in Madrid, Spain, Jennifer Miranda, the World Boxing Association (WBA) gold featherweight champion, organized a boxing activity with The Boxer Club, the Community of Madrid and Hospital Universitario La Paz for blood donation.

Although Miranda is currently in the United States, she coordinated everything remotely to make this event possible: “Individually we are sturdy, but together we are unstoppable. That’s why I helped collect as many boxers as possible to donate blood, because life is attractive when you understand that if God gives you success, it is because He chose you to share it with others. And I know that my role in this life is to assist box. Boxing chose me and I show it to the world,” said the WBA golden champion.

The classes were intended for a group of youthful students who encouraged passers-by to donate blood and raised awareness of how critical it is.

The training was led by Javier Pardo, who showed that he was satisfied with the course of the event. “Today is a very positive day for us because we can see how boxing can be incorporated into social causes, in this case blood donation, because each donation saves the lives of three people. Therefore, encouraging sports activity, supporting this type of activities and meeting people who are so committed to their passion is something very nice.”

Sergio Pérez, director of the Boxing Club, was the liaison with the Community of Madrid in the implementation of these activities: “Our company is committed to noble causes, and blood donation is one of them. We want to encourage the public to support and contribute in this regard,” he said.

Miranda, always committed to social causes, also said that she is proud to be a part of this pioneering organization because she believes that the WBA and its president Gilberto Jesús Mendoza also apply boxing to assist people achieve their goals.

The campaign was a success, and youthful people had a nice and different time, learning more about boxing and realizing the importance of solidarity and blood donation.

Jennifer Meza defended herself fiercely – the World Boxing Association

Argentine boxer Jennifer Meza once again successfully defended her World Boxing Association FEDELATIN atomweight belt after unanimously defeating Venezuelan Roxana Colmenarez at the mythical Luna Park stadium in Buenos Aires.

Meza had a tough challenge against the Venezuelan fighter who knew how to operate her physical conditioning and her arm length was put to good operate looking to push Meza away from distance.

Colmenarez showed dominant technical boxing that allowed her to take control of some rounds. However, Meza, who never stopped moving forward even though she had difficulty finding her space, began to leave Colmenarez without a chance to think and narrowed the space for her, giving her a well-deserved advantage that led her to victory.

In this way, Meza is still the holder of the FEDELATIN WBA Atom belt and increases his tally to 9 victories, with 3 knockouts and 3 defeats.

Elif Nur Turhan is the 130-pound gold champion of the World Boxing Association

Turkish boxer Elif Nur Turhan was crowned the novel World Boxing Association super featherweight gold champion after defeating Argentine Iara Altamirano by unanimous decision on Saturday in Leverkusen, Germany.

In the novel presentation of the Turkish boxer, she had to face another Argentinian competitor, Iara, who tested her skills in the ring. Iara Altamirano tried to apply pressure, but the solution was Turhan’s. They both created an attractive spectacle for the audience.

Turhan has been an athlete with wide projection since the beginning of her amateur career and during the development of IBA competitions, in which she was even after turning professional on May 14, 2022.

Hughes and Johnson ready to steal the show in Australia – World Boxing Association

Nina Hughes will defend her World Boxing Association (WBA) bantamweight title for the second time when she defeats Cherneka Johnson this Sunday at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia.

The fight will be part of a huge event on Oceania soil, headlined by Vasyl Lomachenko and George Kambosos.

Hughes has been champion since November 2022, when she won the title from Jamie Mitchell by unanimous decision in Dubai. She then returned to the ring in June last year, beating Katie Healy the same way at Wembley and earning her first defense.

Johnson will fight super bantamweight Ellie Scotney for her world title on June 10, and will now move down a weight class to take advantage of that opportunity. He will get a second chance to fight for the title and he intends to take advantage of it.

Hughes has 6 wins, no losses and 2 knockouts, while Johnson has 15 wins, 2 losses and 6 knockouts.
