During today’s Instagram Live, Devin Haney’s trainer and father, Bill, had the opportunity to confront Ryan Garcia regarding his positive drug test in a fight that was recently declared a no-contest. When he had the opportunity, Bill Haney pressed Ryan Garcia on the matter and explained why he would cheat in a fight with his son.
“I’ll say it to your face,” Garcia began. “I have never cheated, I have never cheated, I have never cheated in my career. Whatever I got kicked out for had to be tainted and I don’t care what you say, I don’t care what anyone says, I know I’ve never cheated in my life. And I blame it on my mother, who has cancer.”
At this point, Haney asked Ryan why he would plead guilty at NYSAC when he maintains his innocence.
“It’s either this or I go to court or go to trial, and even if I win the trial, they said they can suspend me no matter what. So I just took a year and said whatever. I know I didn’t cheat, I don’t have to cheat.”
Haney continued to ask how the ostarine got into his system, prompting a response from Garcia that certainly didn’t seem suspicious.
“The guy who came to facilitate me lose weight, his name was Scooter, he bought me supplements and I took them and it was the day before the fight and it just so happened that I tested (positive) the day before and the day before. later,” Garcia said. “So a guy came in to facilitate me lose weight, I took the supplements he prescribed and sure enough these are the ones…
“You know the bathtub technique,” Garcia continued. “Where you buy Epsom salts, it’s fucking heated, they wrap you in a towel and you do it over and over again. So that’s what I did all night trying to lose weight and my body stopped at 53 pounds. I couldn’t continue, I was hurting myself.”
Haney asked Garcia to name the specific supplement that was contaminated in order to raise public awareness. But Garcia insisted he didn’t know the name of the specific supplement, which made Haney skeptical.
“Ryan, that sounds like a lie, doesn’t it?” said Bill Haney. “Since you were so good at keeping people informed, would you let us know: OK, is it Scooter who messed you up, or is it the company?”
Ryan Garcia stood his ground.
“Scooter gave me supplements, I took them, and then I tested positive,” Garcia replied. “I don’t know what he gave me. I’m forthright with you, I can’t even be there live. I am real.
At this point, Haney made perhaps his most pertinent remarks, asking Garcia why he was spreading all these conspiracy theories that he was being framed by Victor Conte and himself when he knew he was taking supplements at the last minute to supposedly facilitate him lose weight (although Garcia denied that these supplements were intended for this purpose).
“Because I’m very skeptical,” Garcia replied in a stern tone. “I am still skeptical to this day. You are helped by a man who was kicked out of another sport. The Devin Haney in Your Son can lose so much weight, but then gain weight and still fight for 12 rounds. This screams fraud.”
