Frank Martin expects Davis to be in great shape against Gervonta

As Frank Martin approaches his June 15 fight in Las Vegas, where he will headline a fight against Gervonta “Tank” Davis, Martin spends a few minutes talking to TMZ about his thoughts on the fight and why he’s ready to take advantage of it times.

Martin on how he feels before the fight

“I feel good, man. Just tapering. You know, we’ve got about two weeks, so we’re dialing back the intensity and being edged, but mentally we’re staying on track. That’s the most critical thing.”

About what challenges Tank faces

“I feel like it gives us a lot of challenges. He’s a balanced, well-rounded player, so he’ll bring out the best in me.”

About how he was the first to defeat Tank

“I feel like I have a lot of things that he and the world and a lot of people might not expect. So I’m just ready to go in there and seize the moment. “

About being the underdog in a match

“This shit has come together. You know what I say: “Bet with me, win with me.” This shit is one of those things, I like it. I devour it, it fuels me, so it is what it is. It’s not going to change, so I just have to go out and do something unexpected.

About how the victory over Tank will affect his career

“It means everything. You know, for many players this moment doesn’t come so easily. So if I get that and I can change the seat, get in that seat, it’s a blessing to have that opportunity.

Zhilei Zhang discusses his knockout win over Deontay Wilder

Following Zhilei Zhang’s emphatic victory over Deontay Wilder over the weekend, the heavyweight fought with Fight Hub TV to react to what happened in the ring and how his tactics worked out best for the former heavyweight titleholder.

Zhang on his reaction to beating Wilder

“I feel really good. It’s something for me in the ring and also for the team… Great fight (Wilder), I have great respect for him. His power is still there, he hit me with a few shots and I felt it, but I was a better man.

“I was able to remain serene, serene and composed (under fire). I was patient and that’s the most vital thing. I would cut off the ring and push it into a corner, making him mentally upset at the same time, and he too would worry about my power. So I think patience was the key today.”

About how he set up Wilder for a knockout

“I used a lot of feints to set it up. I knew he was going to hit me or counterattack me, so I used a lot of feints in the fight. I believe he fell into my trap, so that’s how I set it up.

About Wilder believing the fight shouldn’t have been stopped when it did

“I think that after the count of eight, when the referee counted to nine, he got up, but at the same time mentally he is not in his place. And if the fight continues, it will cause more damage. I think the referee did the right thing.”

About what the victory over Wilder means for him in the future

“I have options. I have a rematch with Joe Parker, AJ doesn’t have an opponent yet.

Dubois makes a statement, Wilder hits a wall: boxing rankings

The next update will appear on Monday, June 17.

Ranked fights during this period:

  • cruiser weight: (2) Chris Billam-Smith v (3) Richard Riakporhe, 15 June
  • cruiser weight: (6) Michał Cieślak vs (7) Isaac Chamberlain, June 15
  • Featherlight heavyweight: (7) Oleksandr Gvozdyk vs. David Benavidez, June 15
  • Featherlight heavyweight: (9) Dan Azeez vs. Hrvoje September, June 15
  • Super middleweight: (9) Kevin Lele Sadjo vs. Durval Palacio, June 13
  • average weight: (2) Carlos Adames vs. Terrell Gausha, June 15
  • Superlight: (1) Subriel Matias vs. (8) Liam Paro, June 15
  • Superlight: (7) Gary Antoine Russell vs. Alberto Puello, June 15
  • Featherlight: (2) Gervonta “Tank” Davis vs. (5) Frank Martin, June 15
  • Minimum weight: (1) Oscar Collazo vs. Gerardo Zapata, June 7

Comments: And now the division is waiting for Turki Alalshikh to pay for all its next moves. Usyk vs. Fury 2 is already scheduled for December, and it seems likely that we’ll soon find out what’s next for Anthony Joshua and others, and then the dominoes will fall.

Obviously there are some gigantic things here. Daniel Dubois moves into the No. 1 ranking after a win over Filip Hrgovic, who dropped to No. 6.9, and Zhilei Zhang moves into the No. 7 ranking after a win over Deontay Wilder, who moved out of the rankings for the first time in many, many years top ten heavyweight and looks like a cooked fighter, not even terribly risky because he just doesn’t throw punches anymore, and even if he does, it’s definitely not the same. It’s difficult to put into words, but you just can’t see the intention and confidence he had in his shots.

You could have Zhang a spot up, or he or Dubois ahead of Kabayel.

Upcoming Fights: (1) Oleksandr Usyk vs. (2) Tyson Fury, December. 21

Upcoming Fights: (2) Chris Billam-Smith vs. (3) Richard Riakporhe, June 15 … (6) Michal Cieślak vs. (7) Isaac Chamberlain, June 15

Comments: Michael Eifert would be officially inactive in the next ranking, but why not now? Never mind, man. He was sitting here because of the kind of laziness I was talking about earlier, where you just stick with a guy there because he did one thing that time and he doesn’t do anything else, and when you think about it, often it wasn’t even that great, or something.

In second place was Ravidoje “Sizzling Rod” Kalajdzic. 10, at least for now. He will face David Morrell in August, and both Morrell and David Benavidez – who will face Oleksandr Gvozdyk on June 15 – should come into the league soon and shake up this division.

Upcoming Fights: (7) Oleksandr Gvozdyk vs. David Benavidez, June 15 … (9) Dan Azeez vs. Hrvoje September, June 15 … (10) Radivoje Kalajdzic vs. David Morrell, August. 3

Comments: Christian Mbilli easily defeated Mark Heffron, and now he will face Sergiy Derevyanchenko in a much better duel, which will take place on August 8. 17, so at least on paper he will take a step forward.

Upcoming Fights: (9) Kevin Lele Sadjo vs. Durval Palacio, June 13… (3) Christian Mbilli vs. (5) Sergiy Derevyanchenko, August. 17

Comments: Hamzah Sheeraz made a real statement after his victory over Austin Williams, who fell out of the top 10 and Sheeraz climbed into the top 10. Williams could have stayed in 3rd place. I think 10; he lost in a really high quality match and was stopped because he didn’t stop trying to win. I think Williams would do it probably he beat Nathan Heaney or Shane Mosley Jr, but now we’ll see how he bounces back because whatever flaws these two have, they’re tough as hell and they fight hungry.

Upcoming Fights: (2) Carlos Adames vs. Terrell Gausha, June 15… (1) Janibek Alimkhanuly vs. Andrei Mikhailovich, July 13

Upcoming Fights: (3) Israil Madrimov vs. Terence “Bud” Crawford, August. 3

Upcoming Fights: (10) Lewis Crocker vs. Conah Walker, June 22… (1) Jaron “Boots” Ennis vs. (4) Cody Crowley, July 13

Comments: Well, here we go. Jack Catterall is still better than today’s Josh Taylor and this time he got an official W that proved it without a doubt. Catterall remains at number 1. He currently sits fourth in a rather strange top four for various reasons, while Taylor drops out of the top ten and is replaced by Dalton Smith.

Upcoming Fights: (1) Subriel Matias vs. (8) Liam Paro, June 15… (7) Gary Antuanne Russell vs. Alberto Puello, June 15… (3) Teofimo Lopez vs. Steve Claggett, June 29… (6) Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz vs. Jose Valenzuela, August. 3

Upcoming Fights: (2) Gervonta “Tank” Davis vs. (5) Frank Martin, June 15… (3) Shakur Stevenson vs. Artem Harutyunyan, July 6… (4) William Zepeda vs. Giovanni Cabrera, July 6… (8) ) Keyshawn Davis vs. Miguel Madueno, July 6… (6) Andy Cruz vs. Antonio Moran, August. 3

Upcoming Fights: (10) Andres Cortes vs. Abraham Nova, June 21

Comments: Nick Ball won his first world title in a really good fight against Raymond Ford, close but I think the right guy definitely won. I would expect the Ford could add some weight; he talked about it after winning the belt and stayed because fighting the ball brought good money in a gigantic program.

Upcoming Fights: (2) Rafael Espinoza vs. Sergio Chirino, June 21… (1) Luis Alberto Lopez vs. Angelo Leo, August. 10

Comments: Azat Hovhannisyan is out of the game due to inactivity.

Upcoming Fights: (7) Liam Davies v Shabaz Masoud, 20 July

Upcoming Fights: (1) Junto Nakatani vs. (10) Vincent Astrolabio, July 20

Upcoming Fights: (1) Juan Francisco Estrada vs. (3) Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez, June 29… (2) Kazuto Ioka vs. (4) Fernando Martinez, July 7… (10) Suzumi Takayama vs. Isao Aoyama, July 18. .. (5) Kosei Tanaka vs. Jonathan Rodriguez, July 20

Comments: Julio Cesar Martinez vacated the WBC title with plans to move up to the next level full-time, so he’s out of the fight.

Upcoming Fights: (1) Bright Edwards vs. Adrian Curiel, June 29

Upcoming Fights: (9) Shokichi Iwata vs. Jahzeel Trinidad, July 6… (3) Carlos Canizales vs. Ivan Garcia, July 19

Upcoming Fights: (1) Oscar Collazo vs. Gerardo Zapata, June 7… (2) Ginjiro Shigeoka vs. (9) Pedro Taduran, July 28

Upcoming Fights: (4) Chantelle Cameron vs. Elhem Mekhaled, July 20
