ANTHONY Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn believes the team could land a rematch with Daniel Dubois despite last night’s one-sided match at Wembley Stadium.

Finally, a perfect miniature right hook put Joshua to bed and stunned the 96,000-strong crowd after five rounds of thrilling brutality. AJ was knocked down several times and appeared to be on his feet before the final blow.

Still, Eddie Hearn somehow found plenty of optimism, pointing to Joshua’s heart and guts in defeat. Joshua even seemed on the verge of a surprising breakthrough seconds before he went to bed.

While Dubois’ power and punching power have never been in question, his own resilience has been questioned in the past following tough losses to Joe Joyce and Oleksandr Usyk. No one can question Daniel’s courage or his status as a legitimate world champion after adding the biggest name of his career to the list.

“All credit goes to Daniel Dubois, he deserves it, it was a great performance,” said Eddie Hearn after the highlight reel.

Hearn added that he expects his fighter to exercise his rematch clause after a period of rest.

“[He’s] “I’m still gaining confidence,” Hearn added, which is a bit odd given Joshua’s long career and experience in large fights.

Joshua’s talk often revolves around learning curves, gaining knowledge, and coming back stronger, wrapped in false philosophical statements. For many years, AJ was seen as an overthinker.

Daniel Dubois didn’t give him much time to think last night, and there was nothing to suggest his return would be much different.

Amir Khan told World Boxing News he was disappointed with Manny Pacquiao’s performance following their brief meeting in London this weekend.

Speaking to WBN after walking the streets of the English capital ahead of Anthony Joshua’s fight with Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium, the Bolton man no longer buys what Pacquiao is selling.

In a previous article for WBN, Khan admitted that he believes the Filipino superstar is sincerely interested in fighting him. However, Khan is not cheerful about the lack of action. Pacquiao has yet to make an offer, despite MP Promotions president Sean Gibbons telling WBN that he wants to start talks with Khan about a fight in the UK in December.

With time running out for both former world champions, Khan, 37, wants the 45-year-old boxing legend to take it seriously and make their relationship official.

“You know what, we’ve been in this situation many times and I think Manny talks too much,” Khan told World Boxing News in an exclusive interview. “He talks but he doesn’t do anything.

“Now, whatever I’ve said in my life, I’ve always kept my word. Whether it was Manny Pacquiao and he said, ‘I’m ready to fight you,’ or whether it was [Floyd] The Mayweather fight that I signed a contract for and he didn’t sign his part of the contract and pulled out. He fought [Marcos] Instead, Maidana, the guy I beat. Then, of course, I went and fought Canelo. [in 2016]. I mean I was never afraid and I always fought the biggest names. I was never afraid of anything or anyone.

“But with Manny, you never know if he’s going to be earnest one day, because we’ve been talking about it for so long. Look, if he wants to, it could be in London, it could be in Manchester. Wherever it is, it could be anywhere in the world, really, because we’re both substantial names. We could have a fight, but I just feel like Manny’s wasting everybody’s time. That’s how I see it. He’s wasting his time. He’s getting older too. It’s not like he’s getting any younger. I heard he looked terrible in his last fight.

“So respect where it’s due and respect to the guy. He’s a friend too, and this whole name-dropping thing, I think he’s just talking nonsense, really. I just don’t believe it anymore, so it is what it is,” he added.

Khan met with Gibbons after a meeting with Pacquiao that WBN said was a business deal. Now the two men must discuss the details of getting the fight done in the UK. Pacquiao must also assure Khan of his intentions.

According to Gibbons, Pacquiao wants to have “one or two more fights” and is open to fighting Khan, Conor Benn and even Kell Brook if the terms are right.
