As heavyweight legend Mike Tyson prepares to step between the ropes again for his fight with Jake Paul, he appears on Hannity to discuss the fight and the underlying fear that actually drives him to want to take part in the event . Check out what Tyson had to say about his fight with Paul below.
Tyson about Jake Paul, who has the advantage of youth and speed over him
“I don’t know, I don’t think he’s faster than me.”
About how challenging he’s training for this fight
“I train every day. Hey, I take it seriously. Look, it’s all day, it’s a process. I get up in the morning, I do road work, then I go to the gym at 1, then I go to the strength and conditioning guy, and then it starts all over again.”
On his assessment of Paul’s boxing skills
“I think he’s come a long way from YouTube. And listen, I’ve seen his 16-year-old dance on YouTube where he does weird dances – he’s not a guy I’m going to fight. This guy will come and try to hurt me, which is what I’m used to, and he’s very wrong.”
On rumors of a fight, including 18oz gloves and headgear
“No, that’s not true at all. Not true. Listen, it’s called an exhibition. If you look at the exhibition, you won’t see any of the laws we fight against. This is a fight.”
About what made him want to get back into fighting at this point in his life
“Listen, I have a weird personality, but I don’t think it’s weird. Whatever I’m afraid to do, I do it. And that’s how it is. I was afraid to fight Roy, I was afraid to fight again. I was 100 pounds overweight, regardless of age, 54, 53, and I said, “Let’s do it.” Whatever I’m afraid of, I face it and that’s my personality. Like now, I’m scared to death, but the closer I get to the fight, the less nervous I become because it’s reality and in reality, I’m invincible.
