Boxing icon Mike Tyson is preparing for a sensational return to the ring, and has previously expressed his readiness to fight heavyweight titans Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder as part of a charity event.

Ahead of his highly anticipated fight against YouTube sensation Jake Paul next Friday at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas, Tyson is expected to return to the professional boxing arena for the first time since his last official fight, a loss to Kevin McBride in 2005. prior to his 2020 exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr for philanthropic purposes.

The powerful former heavyweight champion known as “The Baddest Man on the Planet” has clearly not lost his edge despite the years since his prime. In the build-up to his draw with Jones Jr, which ended in a draw, Tyson challenged boxing’s then top heavyweight dogs – Fury, Wilder and Joshua – by offering to take part in exhibition fights with them for charity.

Committed to donating his earnings from fighting the boxing legend to those in need, Tyson praised his potential opponents, saying: “I think they’re brilliant,” and then commented: “They’re great fighters. They could do so much for society. They could organize exhibitions and take money from them, because they attract such a enormous audience and they could facilitate so many people.

Fury expressed his passion for giving, emphatically stating, “There are so many people we can do so much for, and it wouldn’t take even a tenth of their charitable hearts to do something like that. In fact, fight exhibitions with me and most of our charity would go to people who desperately need it.”

The heavyweight champion revealed earlier this year that he wants to take on the best in the boxing scene with his lofty charity goals in mind: “If it means we can have bigger representatives for charities, then so be it, I’m willing to do that too,” adding: “It’s all for charity, and if they’re willing to do it, I’m all for it too. It’s entertainment, it’s just charity – and it’s for a good cause, but we give it our all.”

When asked about a potential fight with Joshua, Tyson couldn’t contain his excitement: “I would love to do it. That would be stunning. I want you to mark them as show because they don’t cause any strenuous feelings. representative of charities and I see it as something bigger than myself. “Buying a recent car, a recent girlfriend, a recent mansion, a recent plane”…that doesn’t work for me anymore. ” Fury raised the issue of failed negotiations for an exhibition match with Tyson, citing financial disagreements as the reason the fight did not materialize.

“I’m the type of person who likes a schedule and likes to know what I’m doing. It just decided I couldn’t do anything, it was out of my control.”

He added: “Nobody can tell Mike Tyson what to do and if he wants to fight me, of course I will say yes. This is the chance of a lifetime to fight one of the two most celebrated boxers of all time; Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson I see Mike Tyson as a killer, so I never expected something like this.

Paul faced bare-knuckle fighter and former UFC challenger Mike Perry on the day originally scheduled for his fight with Tyson and was victorious in the sixth round.

He stated: “At the end of the day, the Mike Tyson fight is great, but I have a goal to become world champion and I won’t ponderous it down for anyone.”

Tyson Fury admitted that he would like former opponent Deontay Wilder to hang up his gloves.

Fury and Wilder shared an epic trilogy from 2018 to 2021, with the Briton racking up back-to-back victories after a controversial draw in their first meeting.

Since then, the ‘Bronze Bomber’ has looked like a shell following defeats to Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang, the latter of which was an emphatic fifth-round stoppage.

Some observers believe his grueling fights with Fury have weakened the Alabama fighter’s fight, and the consensus in the boxing world is that it’s time to call it quits.

And keep talking Pound 4 Pound Podcast“The Gypsy King” revealed that he shares this view.

“To be straightforward, I would like indigent ancient Deontay to retire from boxing.

“Of course he lost three fights against me. We have taken many years of our lives away.

“This war, which ended in the 11th round by knockout, takes a lot out of your tank and you don’t recover from such fights.

“There were ten knockdowns in our trilogy between me and Wilder. It demands a lot from a warrior.

“Even when he came back and has had several fights since then against Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang, he is only a shadow of his former glory.

“The only thing left of Deontay is his name. And that’s it. So I would definitely want him to retire before he hurts himself.

Despite calls for retirement, Wilder is expected to continue his career, and his trainer Malik Scott has confirmed that his goal is to make money in fights. Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou.

And while the American would undoubtedly be handsomely rewarded for both fights, one wonders whether it’s worth the attendant risks to his long-term health.

Mike Tyson’s last professional opponent overcame his addiction and, after being upset, became a tree surgeon

Published

on

Kevin McBride pulled off one of the biggest upsets in fighting history when he defeated Mike Tyson, but he traded the excitement of boxing for the peace of mind that comes with tree surgery. The Irishman has also had to overcome some significant demons in the twenty years since he celebrated the biggest result of his career.

Tyson, who is scheduled to retire and face Jake Paul on November 15, was unable to appear in the seventh round of their 2005 fight and retired from the sport shortly thereafter. While one might assume that such a triumph would pave the way to sporting immortality, the man known as the “Clone Colossus” has now focused on more humble pursuits.

“I’m working with a tree surgeon now,” McBride revealed Daily mail (By Mirror) in 2020. “He tells me to knock down trees, shovel snow, shout “wood” and so on. That’s good. It keeps me busy. My job is to pick things up and put them down.”

The 51-year-old former heavyweight is now enjoying a simpler life after basking in the Sweet Science spotlight. Living with his family in Boston, McBride is a content person, although his journey to a humble life has involved some adversity.

He struggled with alcohol addiction after losing six in eight fights following Tyson’s upset, eventually hanging up the gloves in 2011. Discussing his battle with alcohol, McBride described it as a “bigger fight” than any other he has faced in the ring.

“It’s difficult to believe so much time has passed,” said the Co. Monaghan man, recalling the peak of his boxing days. “It’s coming up more and more at the moment because every time they talk about it [Tyson] when I come back they say I was the last one to defeat him.

“I like it. I don’t sit back and watch the fight again, but someone recently posted a clip on Facebook and I saw it – a dream come true, right?”

It’s difficult to argue with the logic of a man from a miniature town of less than 2,000 people. McBride rose to the top of boxing before falling precipitously, but his legacy remains intact.

Tyson is scheduled to return to fight “The Problem Child” Paul in Arlington, Texas later this month. Nearly 20 years after his last professional test, he aims to improve on an already illustrious legacy and, in a sense, take revenge for his surprise defeat to McBride by ending his boxing days on a happier note.
