Jake Paul has seemingly rejected a challenge from former UFC fighter Darren Till after his highly anticipated fight with Mike Tyson was postponed. The original date for the fight between YouTube sensation-turned-boxer and boxing legend Tyson was set for July 20, but health issues forced Tyson to postpone the fight to November 15 due to a flare-up of an ulcer.
Despite the setback, the event location remains unchanged at AT&T Stadium in Texas, and the fight will take place under the originally agreed terms. Meanwhile, Darren Till is preparing to make his own boxing debut on the undercard of the postponed Paul vs. Tyson event, where he is scheduled to face former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
The Liverpudlian, who previously fought for the UFC welterweight crown, admitted to talkSPORT that a fight with Paul would be more financially rewarding than a fight with Chavez. “I’m not going to sit here and say I wouldn’t want to fight him,” Till said.
“You fight Jake Paul, you make a lot of money and it’s a prize fight. The Jake Paul fight, he challenged me when it came to the Chavez Jr. fight. Logan Paul did it last year too. They both called me names, I didn’t. don’t call them.
“I thought, ‘OK, let’s put your money where your mouth is, I’m fresh, I’m 31 and I’m your size. Let’s do it”. Tumbleweed, suddenly I didn’t hear anything.
Weighing in at 185 pounds in recent UFC fights and likely being heavier outside the Octagon, Till weighs in at a comparable level to Paul’s, setting the stage for a potential heavyweight clash. Paul, his upcoming opponent, wished Tyson well after his recent health problems, but assured him that he would still knock him out in the upcoming fight.
Tyson, who has not fought professionally since 2005, plans to return to lithe training in the coming weeks and is fully confident he can be the first to knock out Paul. “Although we had to postpone the fight, I will resume training soon,” Tyson declared.
“I am grateful to the medical staff who treated me, as well as MVP, Netflix and AT&T Stadium for working diligently to find the best rescheduled date for all parties. Even though we have a fresh date, the outcome will be the same no matter when we set it. fight Jake Paul gets knocked out.”
Paul, who is thirty years Tyson’s junior, says the fight has been a long time coming. “We’ve been calling on each other for years and we finally made it happen on Netflix, the biggest platform in the world, and it just keeps getting bigger and better,” The Problem Child added.
“A joint event [Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano]…I mean, that’s literally the story we’re looking at here. Mike wanted this. Mike wanted it to be a professional fight. He wants war and that’s why I respect that. “I respect him for taking this fight, for trying to put an end to me, because that’s what all these fighters wanted, was to end the YouTuber and if Mike can do that, he’ll be a hero.”
