Jake Paul was unhappy after antique rivals KSI and Dillon Danis’ social media posts that showed another Mike Tyson opponent in a wheelchair from two years ago. The YouTuber-turned-fighter’s upcoming opponent suffered a medical incident during the flight, but representatives from both camps insisted their summer fight would still go ahead.
The upcoming event at AT&T Stadium in Texas has proven to be a controversial proposition in the boxing community since it was announced earlier this year. The event, supported by Netflix, is the most significant fight of Paul’s career, and Tyson will put on gloves in a professional ring for the first time in almost twenty years.
Since both fighters are 30 years apart, the validity of this fight has been widely discussed in recent months, and its supporters include, among others: Lennox Lewis and Tyson Fury. However, critics including Oleksandr Usyk and Frank Warren have been vocal in their opposition to the event.
After 57-year-old “Iron Mike” suffered health issues this week due to an ulcer that he developed during his trip from Miami to Los Angeles, KSI and Danis were among those who expressed their reactions. However, Paul decided to respond to speculation that the former heavyweight world champion would be forced to withdraw from the fight, assuring on Twitter/X: “You love doing [expletive] before you know the facts about clicks/likes. Nothing has changed, #PaulTyson.”
Clearly concerned about KSI and Danis’ reactions, “Problem Child” took to social media to repost a comment from his promoter that read: “KSI and Dilon Danis are very similar people. The two posted a two-year-old photo of Mike Tyson intended to mislead viewers regarding Tyson’s health Mike Tyson is doing great after developing ulcer symptoms during a cross-country flight.
Tyson has previously spoken about photos of him in a wheelchair from two years ago, revealing that he sometimes suffers from sciatica. He said: “I have sciatica from time to time and it flares up. When it flares up I can’t even talk! Thank God this is the only health problem I have. Now I feel great. Everyone in my house is truly blessed and we are all very grateful for everything we have.
As for his current health following his domestic flight scare in the U.S., Tyson’s representatives said: “Thankfully, Mr. Tyson is doing great. He became nauseous and dizzy due to a flare-up of an ulcer 30 minutes before landing. He is grateful to the medical staff who were there to lend a hand him.”
The source said Daily mail that half an hour before landing, the plane’s crew issued a statement that Tyson needed medical attention. According to their informant, an eyewitness recalled the event as follows: “He was in first class, but we were in the exit row.
“They asked us to stay on the plane and land so paramedics could get on. [The stewardess] he said something like, “He’s a really significant passenger, so we want to make sure he’s okay.” I knew it was him, but I mouthed the words “Mike Tyson” and she nodded yes.
The current situation indicates that Tyson will need to pass testing in order to compete on July 20, in accordance with Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation regulations. In the case of “Kid Dynamite”, over the age of 36, these tests will check the condition of his brain and heart before he can compete.
