“I'll cut his s—”: Berlanga on De La Hoya's “hatred.”

Edgar Berlanga slammed Golden Boy promoter Oscar De La Hoya, who, unsurprisingly, was the main critic of Saturday’s fight between Canelo Alvarez and Berlanga.

“Guys like Oscar De La Hoya are trying to destroy my reputation, destroy Canelo’s reputation, trying to say that we won’t sell any tickets, that the PPV numbers – no one will buy, it won’t exceed 100,000. . He’s a female dog and if I see him, I’ll kick his head.” – Berlanga he said.

“He’s just upset, he’s just upset that he’s aged. He’s got a guy like Canelo, who’s a real Mexican, that’s unquestionable, and I know where his hatred comes from. As for me, he wanted to sign a contract with me. He flew in from Vegas, trying to fly out of Los Angeles and sign me. We signed one of the best, Eddie Hearn.

“So Oscar, fuck you.”

It is true that De La Hoya wanted to sign Berlanga when the fighter parted ways with Top Rank in early 2023, which has been documented. We all fully understood that Canelo and De La Hoya have a real beef, which came to airy earlier this year when Canelo fought Golden Boy’s Jaime Munguia, and Canelo even accused De La Hoya of trying to steal money from fighters.

Anthony Joshua talks about his motivation to continue fighting

In September, Anthony Joshua will face Daniel Dubois. January 21 at Wembley Stadium as he tries to regain his world title and discusses the fight as well as his desire to continue boxing despite already having a very lucrative career. Joshua says that at this point in his career he is fighting more for other people, which motivates him to keep going. Below you will find some excerpts from Joshua’s words.

Joshua if he has to give his all to beat Dubois

“Probably better than my best result in beating Daniel. I respect him as a fighter. Yes I know. He’s very, very talented and I like… I look for the positives in people and I like the family, the synergy with the family. It plays an essential role, it plays a huge role, the influence that families have on a player’s career. I think that helps Daniel along the way.”

On whether he is disappointed that the fight with Wilder didn’t happen

“No, the fight can still happen. For me, why not? I’ve always said it’s not a gigantic deal to me, it just is what it is. I’m paid to fight. I often fought for free. Now I get paid to fight, so there’s no problem. Let’s say we get rid of the dazzling lights and the bullshit and all that, it’s just a fight. So yes, I would fight Wilder.”

Is he surprised how quickly Dubois reached a major world title?

“Yes. They believe in him, that’s why they keep giving him these opportunities. Someone believes in him, and he gets opportunity after opportunity. It reminds me of the story of Frank Bruno, he had opportunity after opportunity to fight for the heavyweight championship of the world and sooner or later he will achieved.

About what motivates him to continue fighting

“One of the main reasons right now is my community. I want to fight for charities because I want to start sustainable charities… I believe in sustainability and creating an ecosystem, and I’m fighting now not just for myself – because I have everything I need, not in the sense that I have everything I need, but I’m quite joyful with what I need. I am well, I am joyful, I have enough sweatpants, I have enough sneakers, I am blessed. Now it’s even more so because we’re trying to create something that will aid other people. So when I fight, I’m fighting the spirit of the thousands of people I’m trying to aid. So it’s just not for me.”

How to Watch Canelo vs. Berlanga: Boxing Schedule for September 11-14, 2024

Wednesday, September 11

DAZN, 4:00 p.m. Eastern timeCanelo vs Berlanga press conference during the main event. Canelo and Eddie B make a last-ditch effort to talk through their feud before settling it with their fists. Sometimes random other people show up and try to hijack Canelo’s press conferences to gain publicity, so that can be fun. And remember when Caleb Plant took his sunglasses off his face? Wild, right?

ProBox TV20:00 Eastern time, Lester Martinez vs. Joeshon James. Nice little main event here! Martinez put in a robust performance last year at ProBox and is winning a long decision over Carlos Gongora. James is still undefeated despite four B-team appearances against undefeated prospects, the most memorable of which was his first-round knockout of David Stevens last October. Sorry… No BLH live stream for this one, but we may have a meetup thread for anyone watching live.

DAZN, 8:00 p.m. Eastern timeRocky Hernandez vs. Thomas Mattice. Matchroom show in Hermasillo, Mexico. Hernandez gave us a great performance last October against O’Shaqua Foster, and Mattice is 7-1 since his narrow loss to Isaac Cruz in 2020.

DAZN, 3:30 ESTDavid Nyika vs. Tommy Karpency. Joe Parker is co-presenting this program out of Novel Zealand. The main event will be a fight for Nyika’s “Intercontinental” IBF cruiserweight belt… But Novel Zealand isn’t actually part of the continent! Oceania is regionsure, but I’m afraid the geographical identity of this strip may be absolute bullshit. Hemi Ahio wants to take revenge for his only career defeat against Faiga Opelu.

DAZN, 1:00 p.m. Eastern timeDream Boxing. Your main event will be the fight between Etinos Oliha vs. Alexander Pavlov. Oliha is ranked No. 8 in the WBC and IBF middleweight rankings, so he’s as essential as anyone in the current middleweight landscape.

DAZN, 3:00 p.m. Eastern timeMF x DAZN 18. The main event will be Elle Brooke vs. Jenny Savage. This time the trick is a tournament taking place on the same night. The semi-finals take place at the beginning of the show, with the winners facing each other in the main support of the finale.

US$89.99 to watch on DAZN, US$89.95 on Amazon Prime for the frugal among us. There are three fights on the main card: Erislandy Lara vs. Danny Garcia for Lara’s WBA middleweight belt, Caleb Plant vs. Trevor McCumby for the WBA interim belt, and Rolando “Rolly” Romero vs. Manuel Jaimes. The official fight of Adam Azim vs. Ohara Davies will take place on October 19

The official fight of Adam Azim vs. Ohara Davies will take place on October 19

After a long-simmering showdown with Harlem Eubank fell through, top super lightweight prospect Adam Azim will face Ohara Davies at the top of the Sky Sports/Peacock main event on October 19 at the Copper Box Arena.

Azim (11-0, 8 KO) knocked out Franck Petitjean in his European title fight last November, then forced a stoppage in Enock Poulsen’s defense due to injury. These victories set up a mandatory defense against Dalton Smith, but Azim elected to face Eubank instead, only for the feud to begin and end with an April bout.

In “Two Tanks” steps, Davies (25-3, 18 KO) fights for the first time since being knocked down at 1:53 by Elderly Man Barroso in January. The defeat snapped a seven-game winning streak that began in 2018, when he lost a unanimous decision at the hands of Jack Catterall. This is definitely the loudest opponent in Azim’s career, although the 22-year-old is his clear favorite.

“I can’t wait to get back in the ring and get back to what I do best,” Azim said. “It was a great honor for me to win and defend the European title, but now I am ready for the next challenge. I have known Ohara Davies for many years. I respect him and what he has achieved in sport, but when we meet in the ring, he is just another opponent and another step on my way to the top. He is a good fighter. I think our style will make for an electrifying fight, but there will only be one result. I’m ready to make a statement and show everyone that I’m ready for the biggest names in the division.

“I’m excited about this fight,” Davies said. “I like Adam Azim. I’ve known him since I was a juvenile boy and it’s amazing to see his boxing success so far. I followed him in amateur competitions and always respected him. But he’s not a child anymore. He grew into a man with enormous potential. And that’s why it’s a pity that I have to give him his first defeat. Without a needle and without hatred, I want us to return to our families ecstatic and fit after the fight. But this is where everything changes for him. I’m sorry, Adam. This is where it ends.”
