Misfits Boxing women’s middleweight champion Elle Brooke was the latest social media star to pick the winner of the upcoming professional boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson on July 20. One evening before the fight with Paige VanZant, there was a draw at the Misfits Boxing 15 gala, the middleweight champion supports the youth in defeating the boxing legend, whom she called “grandpa”.
Brooke gave her perspective on the highly controversial matchup. The significant age difference in the fight sparked fierce debate on the Internet – Tyson will be 58 on the day of the fight, and Paul will be much younger – 27.
“You would think that Jake Paul should beat a 60-year-old,” Brooke exaggerated in an interview with Express. “It doesn’t matter how much experience [Tyson] he’s, he’s 60 years vintage. It’s vintage. And he could still be Mike Tyson, but he’s a grandfather. So Jake should win.”
Scheduled for July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the long-awaited fight promises to be a spectacle. At least in the eyes of Paul, who predicted that the stadium would sell out at a level equal to that of the Super Bowl.
Tyson addressed concerns about his age ahead of the fight, expressing confidence in his abilities and emphasizing that he wanted the legality of his participation in a professionally taped fight. Despite scrutiny from renowned brain doctors, Tyson remains steadfast in his decision.
In a lively nod to his self-confidence, he shared a message on Instagram with a photo of himself with the caption: “Keep looking, I know I’m handsome.” But his concern for his safety even reached former rival Evander Holyfield, who advised Tyson on how to avoid getting knocked out in a fight.
Despite her growing profile and almost a million followers on Instagram, the British boxer’s prediction for Paul also reflected her approach to content creation. After sharing her recipe for success online, Brooke emphasized the critical need for controversy.
“I think a little bit of both because a lot of people copy me and it really annoyed me, especially when I was just starting out in the game,” Brooke said, referring to following social algorithms instead of creating trends. “But I realized that if it works, it works.”
“I draw inspiration from people. And if the idea works and can be replicated, why not? If it’s going to make money and get views, this is the easiest way to do things,” she continued. “You have to be controversial, otherwise it’s a lot easier, because if people love you or hate you, they’re going to want to know what you’re doing.”
The middleweight champion boasts a significant following across social media platforms including TikTok, Instagram and more, amassing over 3 million followers. Brooke’s boxing record is four wins and one loss, with 2 of her wins coming by knockout.
Brooke and VanZant fought to a draw during the main event of MF & DAZN: Both fighters expressed a mighty desire for a rematch, a sentiment shared by enthusiastic fans online. The fierce fight set the stage for the eagerly anticipated sequel, with Brooke promising even more excitement in the ring.
