Former President Donald Trump doesn’t like his longtime friend Mike Tyson’s chances against Jake Paul. The heavyweight boxing great, 57, was scheduled to fight Paul, 27, at AT&T Stadium on July 20, but Iron Mike’s medical emergency forced it to be postponed until November.
On Logan Paul’s “Impaulsive” podcast, Trump explained: “Mike was fantastic, but Mike’s a little older now and you guys can fight… you can really fight… I always thought a UFC fighter, a top fighter, could win at 75, but that’s not works this way, a clock is still a clock.”
There is a good chance that Trump will be able to take part in the rescheduled November 15 fight and could become president-elect if November 5 goes well for the leading candidate of the Republican Party.
“And Trump, if you’re watching this, this is an invitation,” Tyson’s rival Paul said in an interview on FOX News. “I know you promoted Tyson, so I would love to have you at the fight. Vivek came to my second fight. And of course the silver fox, Barron Trump. So Donny, stop by, we have got tickets for you.”
Tyson’s July return to professional boxing was interrupted by a recurrence of his peptic ulcer. He was on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles. “I want to thank my fans around the world for their support and understanding during this time. Unfortunately, due to the recurrence of my peptic ulcer, my doctor recommended that I reduce the intensity of my training for a few weeks to rest and regenerate,” Tyson said.
Tyson also confirmed that he believes Paul will be knocked out in a fight later this year. “My body is in better overall shape than it has been since the 1990s and I will be back to a full training schedule soon,” he added.
“Jake Paul, you may have bought yourself some time, but in the end you will still be knocked out and taken out of boxing for good. I appreciate everyone’s patience and look forward to delivering an unforgettable performance later this year.”
Trump, a huge combat sports fan and UFC regular with his friend Dana White, was particularly keen to see if the Paul brothers would ever go to war in the squared circle.
“I was willing to fill in for Mike Tyson when Tyson got ailing and had to postpone his fight. We actually took it to the next level at Netflix,” older brother Logan Paul replied to the former president’s question. Trump added: “It’s difficult for brothers to fight.”
The WWE United States Champion replied: “No to Netflix. Not for a immense bag.
“Let’s solve this once and for all. Me and Jake decided that, obviously we both come from a place of love. And regardless of the outcome, we have to come to terms with it. But of course I love my brother.”
