Dillian Whyte believes Francis Ngannou is too happy with Anthony Joshua's presence

Dillian Whyte claims Francis Ngannou was getting too comfortable and complacent ahead of his fight with Anthony Joshua. Interview with Sky SportsWhyte reacted to Ngannou’s knockout loss and comments that Ngannou did not take Joshua as seriously as he needed to given his performance against Tyson Fury.

“I think that fight gave him false confidence to the point where when he got hit strenuous, he stayed in the pocket and didn’t try to move his head or hold on or anything,” Whyte said. “He fell and stood in the same place. He didn’t move his head, fell down, stood in the same place and basically waited for the third right hand.

The end result was not surprising to Whyte, who says he knew from the beginning that Joshua could handle the business based on his experience and power. Until the end, Whyte believes he would have done the same to Ngannou if he had tried to get this fight earlier.

“I tried to fight Ngannou four years ago,” he said. “I definitely would have knocked him out. I said I would fight him in boxing and MMA. I always believed I could knock him out because I had no boxing skills.

Whyte (29-3, 19 KOs) is currently scheduled to face Christian Hammer this weekend in Castlebar, Ireland, and says he is excited about both the fight and the opportunities that lie ahead. Whyte still has world title aspirations and wants to get his name back in the mix with the top heavyweights.

Joseph Adorno vs Nicholas Walters to headline ProBox on March 27

Joseph Adorno vs Nicholas Walters to headline ProBox on March 27

In a matchup that is both bizarre and captivating, lightweight contender Joseph Adorno will face former featherweight champion Nicholas Walters during the ProBox telecast on March 27 in Plant City, Florida.

“Blessed Hands” Adorno (18-3-2, 15 KOs) is and always has been a phenomenally talented fighter, but destitute discipline, an unwillingness to let go of his hands and constant weight issues have kept his record at 4-3-2 the last four years. Although his biggest win came in February 2023, when he defeated Hugo Alberto Roldan, he has failed to win in subsequent fights against Elvis Rodriguez and Edwin De Los Santos.

He then defeated Jonathan Perez 41-38 last November, and now faces another contender on the comeback trail in Walters (28-1-1, 22 KOs).

“The Axe Man” briefly reigned as the world’s most feared featherweight with fights against Vic Darchinyan and Nonito Donaire, but lost his featherweight title to Miguel Marriaga. After moving up to 130 pounds, he fought Jason Sosa to a draw before beginning the infamous “No Mas-chenko” streak, dropping out in seven.

The 2016 fight seemed to spell the end of his career, but he returned to action in 2023 with two wins over Colombian cannon fodder. He’s 38 years antique and last weighed 148, so chances are he doesn’t have much left in the tank, but Adorno is a truly incredible fighter who has no successes.

Honestly, I think the risk of both of them not gaining weight is non-zero.

“I have made huge changes in my personal life, which are reflected in my boxing career,” Adorno said. “Everything is positive and has a direction.”

“I have matured not only as a fighter, but also as a person,” Adorno said. “I think I can fulfill my potential at ProBox TV and work towards becoming a world champion.”

“Of course I respect him,” Adorno said of Walters. “He is a former world champion. But I will show that I am at a completely different level than people expect.

“In this fight, I want to show that I’m back and I’m feeling better and better. Walters is on his way to becoming a world champion, so I’ll fight him on March 27 live on ProBox TV.”

In other notable fights of the evening, 22-year-old super lightweight Jesus Saracho (13-1-1, 11 KOs) takes on ShoBox veteran Starling Castillo (18-1-1, 13 KOs), featherweight contender and former Olympic reserve David Navarro (6-1, 3 KOs) meets Justin Goodson (8-0, 8 KOs)

WBC clears Anthony Joshua of Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk fight winner

Fresh off his brutal stoppage of Francis Ngannou, Anthony Joshua has made it clear he is ready to return to fighting heavyweight champions – namely Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, who will both be fighting for the ever-elusive, undisputed heavyweight crown.

WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman sees no reason why Joshua should not be allowed to return to title contention. Sky Sports Result that they would allow Joshua to fight the winner of Fury vs Usyk, barring any contractual obligations.

“The WBC received a request for a sanction, which was to fight for an undisputed position. The WBC accepted the sanction, and we accepted the rematch that they requested,” Sulaiman said Heavenly sports. “But if it has nothing to do with a contract or promotion, we would absolutely accept a fight for the winner against Joshua.”

Sulaiman continued by saying that his organization was very instrumental in facilitating the undisputed heavyweight unification and will continue to support the undisputed champion put on the fights that fans most want to see, especially considering the emphatic stoppage that Joshua just pulled off.

“That’s the way the world is, they judge you on your last performance and now he’s the driving force and everyone says he’s the best heavyweight in the world and last year they said he was slept on.”

For now, the matter is between Fury and Usyk, who are reportedly keeping their clauses for an immediate rematch, so Joshua will likely have to wait at least a year before the opportunity presents itself.

Coaches Pick Isaac Cruz to Defeat Rolando Romero

Boxing coaches Calvin Ford and Kevin Cunningham take part in a virtual interview where they are asked for their thoughts on several upcoming fights, including Keith Thurman vs. Tim Tszyu and Rolando “Rolly” Romero vs. Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz. Here’s what both coaches had to say, sharing their thoughts on the fights.

Kevin Cunningham on His Rolly vs. Pitbull Fight Predictions

“I think Pitbull can out-box Rolly, which could mean a tardy stoppage. I think he’s going to fight with a lot of volume, and unless Rolly uses his distance and reach and catches him with something that slows him down, I think Pitbull will overwhelm Rolly and win by decision or tardy stoppage.”

Kevin Cunningham on His Thurman vs. Tszyu Prediction

“I think Tszyu will be a little too juvenile, too robust and he’ll put a lot of pressure on me, so I just think the younger, stronger, fresher guy will come out on top in this fight.”

Calvin Ford in Rolly vs. Pitbull and Thurman vs. Tszyu

“I say the same thing, but I don’t want to exclude Thurman. I’ve known Thurman since the amateurs – great guy to be around. He was a great professional, always has been. I want to see him have a great performance tonight. But age matters, he’s one of the last Mochikans and all that. You never know, sometimes the guys that come in that night make the difference.

“And as far as the Rolly and Pitbull fight, I’m going to fight Pitbull in that one. I’m going to hang around with Pitbull because he doesn’t have to do much with his body, just get in there and fight tonight. Rolly needs to work on a few things to scare people off.
