Carl Froch has hit back at Anthony Joshua after the former heavyweight champion called his fellow countryman a “p****.” Froch shared screenshots of a recent text exchange between the pair, in which “The Cobra” confronts Joshua about comments he made in a recent interview.
Joshua, who will face Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium on September 21 in a bid to become a three-time world heavyweight champion, was asked to describe Froch in one word, and his response drew the ire of the former super middleweight star.
Froch started his YouTube channel Froch on the fight to address the situation, including a screenshot showing him asking Joshua, “Who the f*** are you calling, a**hole?!” Joshua replied bluntly, “Because… I think so.”
Froch asked why and Joshua gave little away, saying: “It’s just what I do,” before Froch flew into a rage: “Do something about it, b***h!” Froch, who has been one of Joshua’s most prominent critics in recent years, claims Joshua added fuel to the fire by sending a video of a Rolex and a pile of cash in which he said: “Get to my level.”
Froch, to put it mildly, did not respond kindly to Joshua’s comments and responded mercilessly in his latest YouTube upload. He said: “He came back and said, ‘I don’t like you’ and honestly, you don’t like me, but all I did was be sincere and give constructive criticism of what you’ve done since the defeat to Ruiz and Usyk, and where you’re going now , you’re fighting Dubois.
“No need to go into detail, no need to start with man boobs – which look pretty good, by the way. And then you have your £10 and £20 notes spread out on the bed with the words ‘horizontal’ written on them, it’s all about the tiers.
“Where did the humble guy go? Where is ‘stay humble, stay humble’. He talks about levels and says I’m not at his level. But he’s talking about money. Honestly, he made a fortune, he broke it.
Froch continued: “But let’s talk about levels in terms of legacy, fights and career victories. A little fat kid from Mexico told him to go away, for fuck’s sake. He spit out his rubber shield and looked around, looking for a corner, looking for people in the crowd who could support him.
“He was hit from pillar to post. The referee looks at him – ‘do you want to continue, do you want to continue fighting?’ And what did he do? He got back on his feet.
“This is embarrassing – something Cobra would never, ever do. And he can take it to the bank!”
