Jaron Ennis: Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford is a 50-50 fight
Published
2 days agoon
Jaron Ennis described the Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford fight as a “50-50” fight.
According to ESPN’s Mike Coppinger, Ennis is looking to face Crawford, who is expected to move up two divisions to face Canelo in September in Las Vegas, and a deal is close to being finalized.
“Boots” believes his rival can handle it due to the weight jump, but admits he doesn’t put the Omaha fighter in the main underdog role like bookmakers do.
“It’s a 50-50 fight,” said the 27-year-old YSM sports media.
“I think this is a fight that everyone wants to see.
“It’s a good fight.
“It’s going to be a little bit hard because he’s going to have to gain an extra 14 pounds, so he might be a little slower or who knows, he might be faster.
“You have to gain more weight and gain more muscle by increasing the weight, so it’s a little bit more hard.
“But I don’t know, we’ll see on fight night what he looks like.”
Crawford moved up from welterweight, where he held the undisputed crown, and won the WBA super welterweight world title from Israil Madrimov in August.
Alvarez defended his unified super middleweight world titles following a unanimous decision victory over Edgar Berlanga in September, and Ennis advised Crawford to try to beat the Mexican superstar.
Asked how the 37-year-old might approach the fight, Ennis added: “Be shrewd, take your time,” he added.
“Pack and move.
“Don’t sit there and let him try to bomb you.”
IBF welterweight world champion Ennis is reportedly closing in on a unification fight with WBA champion Eimantas Stanionis on April 12 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, with the fight expected to be formally confirmed later this week.
The Philadelphia fighter defended his title after a wide points victory over Karen Chukhadzhian in November and opted not to change weight for the fight with Vergil Ortiz Jr. in order to pursue unification at 147 pounds.

Carl Froch sharply criticizes KSI after Wayne Bridge’s comments
Published
3 days agoon
January 23, 2025KSI is the latest person to be caught up in one of former super middleweight world champion Carl Froch’s infamous verbal attacks.
Froch has had plenty to say about KSI’s nemesis Jake Paul in the past, but up until this point, the London-based YouTuber has mostly managed to avoid harsh criticism from “The Cobra.”
However, everything changed when the YouTuber-turned-boxer developed a very personal relationship with former Chelsea left-back Wayne Bridge when they faced off at the stadium Darren Till vs Anthony Taylor Misfits last weekend in Manchester.
When the pair entered the ring, “The Nightmare” immediately highlighted the scandal surrounding Bridge’s ex-girlfriend and former teammate John Terry, which the 44-year-old was clearly surprised by.
And talking about it YouTube channelFroch criticized KSI for these comments and stated that he would “hit him like hell” if he were in Bridge’s shoes.
“I saw KSI jump in the ring and face Wayne Bridge. He walked right into it, didn’t he?
“Because KSI, the little bugger, started with his mistress and all the John Terry antics of aged. When bringing up aged shit, bring up some fresh material if you want to challenge someone.
“Wayne Bridge really should have just punched him in his stupid chops. If you’re going to talk like an ab****, you’re going to get hit like an ab**** – that’s what I would do.
“But Wayne Bridge kind of let him do it. And now he has been taken out of the fight. So the whole thing was kind of pointless.”
As Froch mentioned, Bridge he withdrew from the fight earlier this weekciting concerns about backlash against his family as a result of KSI raising the John Terry incident.
It is unclear who the 31-year-old, JJ Olatunji, will fight next, although he has been linked to former UFC stars Nate Diaz and Luke Rockhold over the past 12 months.
