Zhilei Zhang admits that he was motivated by the desire to extort money, opening the door to the Jake Paul competition

Published

on

Heavyweight colossus Zhilei Zhang admitted he would consider fighting Jake Paul in the future because it opens the door for him to a “money grab” fight. The Chinese powerhouse last fought in June when he defeated former WBC world champion Deontay Wilder with a brutal fifth-round knockout.

The victory saw the 41-year-old rebuild his reputation in the ring, defiantly responding to his defeat in March in his fight for the interim WBO heavyweight title against Joseph Parker. Despite defeating the latter twice in this contest, he lost by majority decision – thanks to his determination to re-establish his position in the weight class clearly observable in his match with Wilder.

After picking up arguably the most crucial victory of his career in his last fight, “Massive Bang” now sets his sights on a flashy fight against Paul. In an exclusive interview for Express, organized by Ace coursesresponded to speculation that he might take on the internet sensation in the future, saying: “Yes, I will. And who wouldn’t like to earn some money?

“If that happens, it will be a money grab. All jokes aside, he’s fighting Mike Tyson, who is my idol growing up. I feel like at 50, 60 he’s still there, training challenging and trying to hit with the youngsters, I feel like that’s great motivation. I wish him all the best.

Before any hypothetical fight between the pair can be arranged, Paul will face legendary former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson for the first time this month. Giving his verdict on the fight’s validity as a competition, Zhang said: “I know a lot of people have their own opinions on this fight and whether it should happen.

“But in my opinion, when I was growing up, I watched Mike Tyson fight and I think he’s like a god of war. Now, in his 60s, he’s fighting a guy in his 20s, which is already an amazing achievement. I really hope all the best for him and I wish him all the best and good luck.”

As for his own reputation after defeating Wilder, the Chinese fighter admitted that the victory potentially discouraged his peers from getting into the ring with him. He continued: “It’s a double-edged sword. The good thing is that after losing to Parker in March, I was a little unhinged, but after winning I got back into contention.

That’s what’s good about it. Thanks to this, my career got back on track. The negative side is that after knocking out Wilder, people look at me like I’m from another planet. They don’t want to fight me. They look at me like someone they want to avoid at all costs.

“This puts me and my team in a tough position when it comes to scouting opponents and securing massive fights. I really feel like elite heavyweights should just come and face me and just let it happen.”

That said, after his stunning victory over Anthony Joshua, Zhang has set his sights on fighting IBF world heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois next year. He added: “Well, definitely yes, but I don’t think it will happen this year because we are coming to the end, but hopefully in 2025 it will happen. Daniel, if you want to fight me, send me the contract and I’ll sign it right away.”

Jake Paul bet his entire £31million purse on the outcome of the Mike Tyson fight

Published

on

YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has placed his entire $40 million (£31 million) bet on the outcome of his upcoming fight against boxing legend Mike Tyson. The fight, which will take place next Friday in Dallas, will be Tyson’s first professional fight in almost two decades.

Considering he is 31 years younger than the former undisputed heavyweight champion, Paul is the bookmakers’ favorite to win. During the pre-main event bout, Paul accepted bets from several undercard fighters, including Neeraj Goyat, who bet his $1 million house.

Katie Taylor, who is ready for a rematch with Amanda Serrano, went a step further. When Paul asked her how much she wanted to bet, Taylor replied, “Do you want to bet your wallet?” Without hesitation, Paul agreed, saying, “Yes, let’s put the bag down. Deal” and shook Taylor’s hand.

While many doubt whether the bets will hold, Paul insists that contracts will be signed before Friday evening. Earlier this year, Paul bragged about his earnings from his 12th professional fight.

When asked if he brought Tyson in to “legitimize” his boxing career, Paul replied: “I didn’t bring him in for any shit; “I’m here to make $40 million and knock out a legend I don’t want.” don’t worry about anything else, he wanted it to be a professional fight and he really will get knocked out.”

Paul doesn’t hold back before fighting the legendary Tyson, boasting to reporters: “You’ll see in his record: Jake Paul knocks out Mike Tyson; I’m not here to do shit except make a bag. Every time fighters sit across from me and watch ‘YouTuber this, Disney kid that’ and they end up on the canvas… this will be no different. I offered this deal to this ancient bastard he signed with Netflix and we brought him the deal, you’re welcome my son.

Meanwhile, Tyson made the pre-fight farce clear during his latest press conference, giving terse answers and showing perceptible irritation when asked about a possible loss to Paul. “I said everything I had to say,” Tyson declared, quickly trying to deflect further questions.

But not to be silenced, he assured firmly, “I’m not going to lose.” When pressed again, his patience wore slim as he repeated, “Did you hear what I said?” In a edged response, Paul joked: “That’s cute. I’m not afraid of any man, so I want him to be wild ancient Mike.

Tony Bellew sent off as Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson press conference descends into chaos

Published

on

Former world champion Tony Bellew was kicked out of Mike Tyson’s press conference with Jake Paul after he went on a tirade against the YouTuber. Bellew is in Texas for Tyson’s heavyweight clash with Paul on Friday and interrupted the press conference to criticize Paul.

However, the stunt backfired when Bellew’s microphone failed and no one could hear the former cruiserweight champion. He was then awkwardly escorted out of the room by security as a confused Paul looked on.

Bellew has consistently criticized Paul, who has built a boxing career since his professional debut in 2020. In his 12th professional fight, he will face 58-year-old Tyson, and his only defeat was last year against Tommy Fury.

Earlier this week, Bellew criticized Paul for the Tyson fight. He said The best books about sports Offsore: “Mike Tyson is a grandfather.

“He is 58 years vintage. He’s approaching 60 and fighting a man who’s not even half his age. Disney Boy is attacking grandparents right now. It’s really scary. We might as well go to the nursing home and start digging out some of them.”

“If Mike shows up and puts his right hand on him, he will fall asleep. So who should he fight? 70 years vintage? If he wins, will he continue to play like this as he gets older? Is he going to come down? Will he face a real boxer?”

Despite a break from Bellew, Tyson remained largely hushed just two days before returning to the ring. The boxing legend last fought four years ago when he and Roy Jones Jr ended in a dull draw after eight rounds.

However, Paul had doubts whether Tyson would keep his promise and knock out the social media sensation. “He says he’s going to kill me, doesn’t he? I want this killer, I want there to be no excuses when I knock him out.”

Asked if Tyson had called him a “fabricated killer”, Paul replied: “Whatever you want to think, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but the deadliest weapon in the world being produced is nuclear weapons.

“Someone is put to sleep, it will be a war. We’re both weighty hitters and it doesn’t go the distance.
