Mike Tyson snubs Tyson Fury as he picks his favorite current boxers ahead of his fight with Jake Paul
Published
4 hours agoon
Former undisputed champion Mike Tyson has crossed two-time world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury off his list of five favorite current boxers.
During his professional career, Tyson became the youngest champion in the history of the division – defeating Trevor Berbick in 1986 at the age of just 20 for the WBC title. The American with a professional record of 50-6-2 can boast victories over such notable names as Marvis Frazier, Larry Holmes, Michael Spinks and Frank Bruno.
Widely regarded as one of the greatest heavyweights in history, Tyson wasn’t done yet. Despite hanging up his gloves in 2005 after losing to Kevin McBride, the American returned to the ring four years ago in an exhibition match against another legend, Roy Jones Jr.
The 58-year-old is currently completing his training camp and preparing for his November 15 clash with YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul. In the lead up to his fight with “The Problem Child,” Tyson recently appeared on Pound’s Podcast For-Pound with former UFC champions Kamaru Usman and Henry Cejudo.
While the main discussion centered around the boxing icon’s upcoming clash with the 27-year-old, Tyson was also asked to name his five favorite current boxers.
Surprisingly, Tyson’s top five choices included no mention of Fury, Anthony Joshua, Oleksandr Usyk or even superstar Canelo Alvarez. His official selection included David Benavidez, Gervonta Davis, Shakur Stevenson, Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr.
Benavidez made a name for himself as a top super middleweight. However, in his last fight he decided to move up a weight class, defeating Oleksandr Gvozdyk to win the vacant interim WBC delicate heavyweight title. There have been rumors about a potential megafight with Canelo, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
A lightweight genius, Davis is known for his powerful punches. With an undefeated record of 30-0, the American has only fought two distance fights so far.
“Iron Mike” expressed his desire to see “Tank” face Shakur Stevenson, who was third on his list. Olympic medalist Stevenson has maintained an undefeated streak since turning professional in 2017.
Boxing legend Tyson has named 37-year-old Terence Crawford as one of his favorites, touting the American’s impressive record of winning world titles in four different weight classes and touting him as one of the world’s best pound-for-pound gladiators.
Fifth on his list is none other than Errol Spence Jr., Crawford’s former opponent who, despite being outclassed in the previous fight and absent from the ring since, Tyson is eager to see him return. “I think Spence can come back and still get his title back. I think Spence is an underrated fighter,” Tyson noted.

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul called for major rule changes just days before the boxing match
Published

November 5, 2024Former UFC heavyweight sensation Brendan Schaub boldly called on Mike Tyson and Jake Paul to fight bare-knuckle next week.
The match between the two teams will take place on November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Texas. In the upcoming fight, two boxers will face each other in a professional fight, consisting of eight rounds of two minutes each, different from the usual three-minute rounds.
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation has given the green lithe for the sanctioned fight, in which both fighters will wear 14-ounce gloves, tipping the scales above the standard weight.
The initial clash was postponed earlier this year due to Tyson’s peptic ulcer outbreak, but the legendary boxer is back in training and is adamant he will be ready for his dramatic return next week. In lithe of recent events, event organizers have reportedly cut ticket prices in half to ensure maximum attendance for the Titanic brawl.
Schaub expressed his views on his podcast, noting, “Yeah, no bullshit. I like my boy Mike, but I just don’t have the appetite for it. Nobody wants to see this.” He then said, “It just doesn’t make sense. They played in an arena that was too gigantic. I think they overshot. Yeah, you know, the other thing is that Mike has to retire because of ulcers.
“I don’t understand how you want to twist this. Mike Tyson, God bless him, had it pulled out because of the ulcers. You know, it’s just difficult. You want people to be intrigued by this fight, and they can’t, they keep trying, but they can’t… make it a bare-knuckle fight.
“If Jake gets punched bare-knuckled in a fight with Mike Tyson, it’s over because now you’re asking yourself, ‘Are they in cahoots together?’ Is something happening? ».
During the same podcast, the 41-year-old explained why he thought continuing to fight in the heavyweight division was a bad decision for Paul. “I love Mike Tyson, I love Jake. Jake is my boyfriend. I hope this fucking crushes me. But I sure as hell can’t find any positives to this. Let’s run through the scenarios if you’re Jake.
“If you knock him out, people will say, ‘What a terrible guy, you just beat up an vintage man.’ If you get knocked out, people will say, “I told you this guy was a joke, a 58-year-old beat you.” The third scenario is to make a decision that would be a disaster and then no one would be interested.”
However, the American analyzed in detail why he was confident that Tyson would emerge as the sole winner, regardless of the outcome of the fight. “It’s a disaster from a business perspective for Netflix, it’s a disaster for Jake Paul, who made the decision with 58-year-old Mike Tyson. The only person who wins isn’t Netflix or Jake Paul. Mike Tyson wins. He can do no wrong. He gets knocked out, he’s 58 and he’s still making money. He beats Jake Paul, fuck yeah… He makes the decision, Mike Tyson wins.”

Conor McGregor explains why he would like to see Dubois vs. Joshua 2
Published
12 hours agoon
November 5, 2024Conor McGregor has revealed he can’t wait for Anthony Joshua to face IBF world heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois for a second time.
McGregor was one of the 96,000 spectators at Wembley Stadium in September who witnessed Dubois shockingly stop Joshua in five rounds to retain the title.
It was a crushing loss for pre-fight favorite “AJ” and many prominent voices in the boxing world called for him to hang up the gloves altogether.
However, ‘The Notorious’ believes that the Watford player has what it takes to reverse the result of the match against Dubois.
I’m talking to talkSPORT this week, McGregor explained why he wanted Joshua to “try again” to take down “Triple D.”
“I thought there was a bit of tension on Joshua’s side, even on the way out – he looked too heated!
“I wasn’t that surprised, fair play to Dubois. I think Joshua did some good things too.
“He was coming back into the game but he made a few mistakes, he got a little too excited after hitting it with his backhand.
“I’m excited to see this event again and I’ll tell you why.
“Joshua has shown in the past that he can make adjustments and make amends, like in the Ruiz fight.
“So I would like to see him again. Dubois fought phenomenally that night and it would be a tough challenge for Anthony.
“But if anyone can do it, it might be AJ.”
Despite the wishes of McGregor and everyone else wanting an immediate rematch, it was confirmed that it would not happen.

Dubois’ promoter, Frank Warren, told the media on Monday that he had received word from Joshua’s team that their fighter it won’t be ready for February.
However, “Dynamite” is still expected to defend his world title next year, with the likes of Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang reportedly among the favorites to get their shot.

Trainer Jake Paul’s brutal two-word response to Mike Tyson fight, video of which went viral
Published

November 5, 2024Jake Paul’s trainer J’Leon Love has rejected the notion that his student will face former undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson. The clash between the two teams will take place on November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Texas, with up to 90,000 fans expected to attend.
This fight will fulfill Paul’s three and a half year ambition. “The Problem Child,” as Paul is known, comes into this fight off the back of a win over former UFC star Mike Perry in July.
Since his professional debut in 2020, Paul has been fighting regularly in the boxing ring. In his tiny career, the newborn American scored victories over Anderson Silva, Nate Diaz, Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren.
With a record of 10-1, his only loss was a points defeat to Tommy Fury last year. On the eve of next week’s gala in Texas, “The Problem Child” posted a video on his official Instagram account in which he reveals how the idea to fight Tyson came about. While talking to Love, it seemed like Paul’s coach was completely against the potential matchup.
The video, which dates back to 2021, before his fight with Askren, shows the YouTuber-turned-boxer humorously hinting at the prospect of fighting “Iron Mike.” “I just had a crazy idea,” Paul said. “Do you think I could beat Mike Tyson?” Love can be seen laughing before replying, “—- no.”
Paul then questioned his coach’s advice, asking incredulously, “Even in a year?” Love, who has experience in the ring himself, emphasized the depth of Tyson’s skill, saying: “Mike Tyson just got a —-. He knows how to do it bro, it’s just…”
Paul, 27, agreed and nodded, saying: “Tyson is a dog,” and mused: “I was just thinking about Jake Paul fighting Mike Tyson? That would be fun.”
Paul’s fantasy fight is about to materialize next week. However, since the fight was announced, the influential boxer has been bombarded with criticism for agreeing to fight Tyson.
Dismissing skeptics, the newborn American recently defended his decision during an interview TODAYstating, “A lot of people wonder, ‘Jake, why are you doing this? Even if you beat him, they will say he is ancient.”
“But for me, Mike Tyson wanted to fight me. It’s an honor. He is one of the most famed boxers in the world who has ever done this. “It’s an honor and a dream come true to be there with someone of his character. It’s going to be a show on Netflix.”
Some fans are skeptical that “Iron Mike” will take his upcoming fight seriously after the sensational revelation. In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, the 58-year-old boxing icon stated that she trains six hours every day.
“I train extremely challenging, I practice six hours a day. I start at 11 a.m. and can leave the gym at 5 p.m.,” Tyson revealed. A clearly surprised Kimmel replied, “Oh no. 11:00? So it’s six hours straight, is there a break for lunch?”
Tyson admitted that there was indeed a tiny pause, prompting a stunned Kimmel to exclaim, “Oh no.”
