Gary Russell Jr responds to Devin Haney's insults

Gary Russell Jr was quick to defend his younger brother Gary Antuanne Russell following his split decision loss to Alberto Puello over the weekend. Immediately after the defeat, Devin Haney took to social media to ridicule Russell, whom many considered in impoverished taste, if for no other reason than Haney himself, who had just suffered a beating.

After learning what Haney had to say, Russell Jr. he felt the need to answer.

“I saw Devin Haney say something like, ‘Antuanne Russell is shit and his older brother was nice, but he’s shit.’ Shorty, you should have kept your fucking mouth shut. My little brother is a damn dog, don’t get it twisted. Don’t be fooled, little one. Some of the best fighters, the greatest fighters in the world, took the damn L. It kind of builds character.

“You’re full of shit. My little brother left like a fucking soldier, that’s a large difference. You should have kept your mouth shut – and you got a gift, you actually got a gift, because if you had known that if he had won that fight, we would have kicked your ass next. Lomachenko kicked your ass, you have a gift for it.

“Because my little brother is so shitty, you can see him. I bet you won’t line up and raise your hand to do this, will you?…my little brother will still cook for you.

Haney, who is taking a rather brutal beating at the hands of Ryan Garcia, is hoping to turn this defeat into a victory after Garcia’s failed drug test. Meanwhile, Antuanne Russell is said to be going back to the drawing board to come back better than ever.

Christian Mbilli is looking forward to a tough fight against Sergiy Derevyanchenko

French super middleweight fighter Christian Mbilli will return to the ring at the end of the summer when he faces Sergiy Derevyanchenko in a 10-round main event on August 17 at the Quebec City Center Vidéotron.

During today’s official press conference announcing the fight, Mbilli does not hide that he was particularly interested in this fight with Derevyanchenko.

“When ESPN offered us three names, I immediately told Marc: ‘We want Derevyanchenko,’” Mbilli said. “I have been following his career since I was 15. He beat a lot of elite boxers on the French team, but unfortunately he turned professional when I moved up to the seniors.”

Mbilli continued by mentioning that he had been watching his opponent closely to prepare for this moment and would be ready to take advantage of the fight night.

“I carefully analyzed Derevyanchenko’s fights to improve my technique,” Mbilli said. “It’s an honor to fight him and I’m going to thank him by giving him the hardest fight of his life. It’s going to be a war on August 17, you don’t want to miss it.”

Meanwhile, Derevyanchenko believes that he has had some unlucky outings in his career, but emphasizes that this fight will change his fate.

“He may have won against other fighters in the past, but the past is the past,” Derevyanchenko said. “I respect my opponent. Mbilli is undefeated, he’s a powerful guy, but I’ve been doing this for a long time. I’ve seen it all and on August 17 I will be the winner.”

Both players should be motivated to put in a powerful performance that they can benefit from with a win here, so hopefully we’ll see what they both have to offer after the opening bell.

The fight between Jake Paul and Mike Perry will take place on July 20 on DAZN

The fight between Jake Paul and Mike Perry will take place on July 20 on DAZN

With his hated Mike Tyson fight postponed to November, while “Iron Mike’s” body desperately tries not to shatter into a million pieces, Jake Paul will meet MMA veteran turned bare-knuckle star, Mike’ em Perry during their original date on July 20.

Perry (0-1 boxing, 14-8 MMA, 5-0 bare-knuckle) made an instant name for himself in the UFC with a combination of hellish knockouts and a mental state that could best be described as “two feet to the left of reality.” However, Perry’s technique soon deteriorated to the point where he lost seven of his last 10 for the promotion and was split following a decision loss to Daniel Rodriguez in 2021.

A year later, Perry focused on bare knuckles, which seemed to be his destiny all along. His current streak has seen him upset vaunted striker Michael “Venom” Page, change the teeth of former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold, defeat former Bellator champion and UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez, and most recently stop Thiago Alves in April of last year 60 seconds.

On paper, it is the most hazardous of Paul’s (9-1, 6 KO) MMA achievements. Although he competed in the Octagon at 170 pounds, he fought more than once at the MMA middleweight of 185 pounds, so he shouldn’t be much smaller than Paul compared to the likes of Tyron Woodley.

Amanda Serrano (46-2-1, 30 KO), who is scheduled to rematch Katie Taylor in the November gala, will still be busy with her fight with Stevie Morgan (14-1, 13 KO). Morgan’s streak of six consecutive first-round knockouts is undermined by the fact that four of her Colombian victims have recorded a combined 43 stoppage defeats.

Tony Aguilar (12-0-1, 4 KO) also met Corey Marksman (9-0-1, 7 KO) in a delayed rematch from the February draw.

Fabio Wardley reflects on the price paid in his draw with Frazer Clark

Fabio Wardley fought Frazer Clarke in March to a grueling draw, but says he is still willing to consider a rematch as both sides continue to negotiate terms. And while Wardley says he’s open to continuing, he’s not particularly committed to a rematch because he believes he has other good options as a still undefeated fighter.

Even if there was some mutual respect before their meeting, there was certainly much more of it later, considering how the fight turned out, with neither fighter having the satisfaction of officially winning. It probably wasn’t the easiest pill to swallow for Wardley as he tells the story Heavenly sports that he knows that the duel has taken a physical toll on him.

“I left a piece of my soul at The O2 that night,” Wardley recalls. “I really do [think that].

“I left at least a pint of blood there or something because it was a muddy business. I left a part of myself there that night. So O2 this event will always be a huge part of my memory.”

Even in featherlight of this, Wardley is aware that his name may still be linked to Clarke’s, which gives a potential rematch even more significance, especially considering the team’s fan base.

Fierce competition is something that can transcend any fighter’s career, and Wardley says it’s moments like these that he lives for. For now, we’ll have to see if the pair reunite and strike a deal for the second dose.
