Oleksandr Usyk’s team has reportedly filed a complaint regarding the ring cloth that will be used during Saturday’s colossal fight with Tyson Fury.

Both Fury and Usyk practiced for the gathered media on Wednesday in a ring that will be identical to the one used at the Kingdom Arena in Saudi Arabia during their undisputed heavyweight title fight.

According to Sky Sports NewsThe Ukrainian’s team believed the canvas could pose a tripping hazard, even though it was the same canvas he used in both victories over Anthony Joshua.

Former world cruiserweight and heavyweight champion David Haye arrived in Riyadh on Wednesday and cited similarities to when Fury’s team complained about the ring canvas before their 2015 victory over Wladimir Klitschko.

“I remember when Tyson Fury was supposed to fight Wladimir Klitschko,” Haye said Box Nation.

“The ring canvas was super supple, which would have made it impossible for Tyson to move.

“So I definitely feel that the harder and stronger the canvas is, the more it works in Usyk’s favor.

“If the ring cloth is supple, it stops you from moving, it drains your legs.

“This would work to Tyson Fury’s advantage as Usyk will need to constantly move back and forth on his feet to secure victory here.”

The week of fights was not full of controversy with Fury’s father John Fury On Monday, he headbutted a member of Usyk’s team as tensions subsided after both players completed their media duties.

The two were supposed to fight on February 17, but the “Gypsy King” suffered an injury during sparring, so the fight was postponed to Saturday.

His Excellency Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, which is responsible for bringing fights to Saudi Arabia, confirmed this week that Fury and Usyk will rematch in October regardless of the result.

Fury and Usyk are vying to be crowned the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis achieved the feat in 1999 and the inaugural holder of four belts.

Jake Paul warned Mike Tyson about respect and was told to run away before the megafight

Published

on

Boxing icon Larry Holmes has given Jake Paul a stern warning ahead of his controversial fight with Mike Tyson. The pair are scheduled to fight on November 15, and Holmes advised Paul to distance himself from Tyson in the ring.

The fight was originally scheduled to take place in July, but was postponed to next month due to “Iron Mike’s” health problems. Tyson, 58, says he is back in shape and will be ready to fight Paul in his first professional fight since 2005. The showcase gala is being held at AT&T Stadium and 90,000 fans are expected to attend. The fight will also be streamed live on Netflix.

It’s a remarkable rise for 27-year-old YouTube star Paul, who boasts a 10-1 boxing record, including notable wins over former UFC stars. Despite the 31-year age difference, boxing great Holmes is confident that heavyweight boxing great Tyson will prove a step above his class and over Paul’s other opponents, and is adamant that his only path to victory will be to exploit his speed advantage.

“If Jake moves like Larry Holmes, going around and dodging punches, maybe he can survive,” Holmes said. OLBG. “But if he doesn’t move and avoid Mike’s punches, he won’t make it.

“He needs to deliver that jab. Block what he throws and deflect it. If he doesn’t fight Mike Tyson smartly, using movement and jabs, he won’t win. If he tries to trade blows, he won’t win.

“The only way to win a battle is to flee,” Holmes added. “If he doesn’t apply jab and move, good night, Irene. If he doesn’t apply his jab, he’ll be in trouble. You have to beat Tyson, apply your jab and be the first. When the bell rings, Tyson will run at it and will have to stop Mike with a mighty right hand and a left hook.

Tempting the former world champion to come out of retirement, Tyson dealt Holmes the first knockout defeat of his career in 1988. Their fight was stopped in the fourth period after “Iron Mike” knocked down Holmes three times in the same round.

There is no suggestion that Tyson still possesses the same destructive power. However, Tyson’s boxing expertise and the risk of a knockout mean Paul will need to start the fight well to avoid a worrying result.

“If he doesn’t earn Mike’s respect first, Mike will run him over, believe me,” Holmes said. “He must hit Mike difficult right away, or goodnight, Irene. If he can do it, he can do it, but Mike can do it too, so it’s going to depend on who strikes first.”

Jake Paul decided to change sports immediately after Mike Tyson’s boxing fight

Published

on

Jake Paul is ready to discuss a potential MMA debut following his highly anticipated boxing fight with Mike Tyson.

Internet sensation Paul is preparing to fight boxing titan Tyson next month in Texas in an event that has been met with significant delays and much controversy. With a 10-1 record in the ring, Paul suffered just one defeat last year at the hands of Tommy Fury, and yet when they meet on November 15, he will boast a significant 30-year age difference to Tyson.

However, Paul does not limit his horizons in combat sports to the ring, because he dreams of fame in the MMA octagon. Having signed a contract with leading MMA organization PFL in 2022, Paul has ambitions to make his mark in the world of MMA perhaps next year, taking a break from his pursuit of a world boxing title.

I’m talking to Mirror on Francis Ngannou’s return to Renan Ferreira, PFL CEO Peter Murray shared his thoughts on Paul’s future in MMA: “I’m not sure if this will be his next fight in combat sports, but he will make his debut in 2025,” the boss said.

“Look what Jake has proven in boxing; he is an amazing athlete, a professional boxer, he has faced several legal opponents and blazed his own trail. He’ll do it the same way in MMA; “His main goal is to be a supporter of athletes and blaze up-to-date trails, so he will definitely take up the MMA fight and be as focused and dedicated as he is to boxing.”

Paul has consistently expressed his determination to settle the score with Fury, who secured victory over the YouTuber in Saudi Arabia. Now there is speculation that their rematch could move from the ring to the octagon following Fury’s recent training sessions with UFC heavyweight Tom Aspinall.

Murray sparked excitement for the potential clash, commenting: “I believe [they could fight in PFL]; We’ll see, the list is there and growing, that’s what’s stimulating about it. There are a lot of fighters who would like to take part in this debut, so we will talk to Jake after the Tyson fight.”

Further fueling the MMA rumors, Nate Diaz, a UFC pioneer who fell to Paul in a previous boxing fight, has been mentioned as a potential opponent in Paul’s mixed martial arts venture. Although he appears to have turned down a massive £7.7m offer amid talks to return to his ancient stomping ground.

Additionally, there is talk of Paul returning to the ring for a third confrontation with Tyron Woodley, whom he has already defeated twice, although he continues his war of words with Jorge Masvidal, another top-class fighter who is currently on a break from the UFC.

However, before any of these scenarios come to fruition, Paul will face Tyson, who has not taken part in a professional fight since he bowed to Kevin McBride in 2005. Nevertheless, Tyson laced up the gloves again for an exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020, which ended in a disastrous stalemate after eight rounds.
